Coming up where thousands of homes are being threatened tonight several have been lost already we have more on the evacuations underway in the back to our top story tonight, breaking news crime for monitoring dozens of fires that are burning as we speak across the bay, including the lnu lightning complex fires burning in napa sonoma and solano lake and yolo counties huge area so far theyve scorched a combined 131,000 acres, 105 structures have been destroyed 70 others damaged right now the fire has no containment on it 0 contain the flames forcing thousands of families and people to evacuate. Heres a look at a map for all of Solano County vacaville is also here as is fairfield the areas in red are under mandatory Evacuation Orders. The yellow indicates evacuation warnings and that is where we find kron fours michelle kingston she is joining us live from vacaville with more on the shelf. The more video and pictures you see come out of that area, its just so so sad. Yeah, its absolutely devastating up here. I am not one of 5 Evacuation Centers on outside the eu lettuce Community Center there isnt much activity here. But i gotta tell you i was outside Pleasants Valley road up in the hillside earlier today and it is just devastating to see all that destruction. An American Flag still waving off Pleasant Valley road despite the fastmoving fire that traveled sell from napa county toward vacaville early wednesday morning forcing evacuations of thousands of homes the fire jumped interstate 80 clogging traffic for hours today we see the devastation fences burned power poles down. I have been driving up and down these roads in the hills in vacaville and i have to say there is just so much smoke these hillsides are completely charred. Wildlife is devastated. And so many homes and barns have burned to the ground fire Officials Say while the fire vacaville is still active. Its doing a lot better crews are working to stop the spread putting out hot spots throughout the city now as you mentioned there really isnt a fire season, you know you can expect wildfires. All throughout the year it and so i it i dont think it surprised any of our but uh to to tell you the truth i was out there on the line. Early wednesday morning when this fire hitting the city of back bill in its 30 years and in the fire service. I very rarely seen the extreme. Fire conditions or or firefighters were up against that night. Conditions here in town are certainly better than they were up there in the hillside earlier this afternoon but it is still very tough to breathe out here. Theres quite a orangey brown tend to the sky here theres ash falling and it is very smoky. Back to you guys. Thank you. Michelle reporting for us tonight from Solano County the lnu lightning complex fire. What she was talking about is also burning in sonoma and napa counties in the bay area and heres a look now at the Evacuation Orders and warnings in Sonoma County anyone in the red area is under a mandatory Evacuation Order the yellow area indicating an evacuation warning that means you have to be ready to go at a moments notice. Sheriffs deputies will be in those areas. If the evacuation is upgraded to let people know it is time to go. Meanwhile, theres an evacuation map we have for napa county here, the blue area is where evacuations are mandatory in that county, the yellow is where evacuations are at a warning level again if youre in the yellow area you have to be prepared to go in case it becomes mandatory. The map also shows the evacuation shelter where people can seek refuge that set the Cross Walk Community church there due to the Widespread Evacuations and unhealthy air quality several School Districts in the north bay have paused their Distance Learning for the rest of this week at least its a lot of county this includes the following districts fairfield to soon. Travis and vacaville thats on the county office of education is also pausing all of its other programs that operates within these districts here, several schools and districts in Sonoma County also closed this week including Alexander Valley guerneville healdsburg cation monte rio. Montgomery and westside families advised to check the School District websites for any updates on when virtual Distance Learning may resume again want to check in now with our meteorologist Mabrisa Rodriguez who has been tracking the conditions that firefighters are facing as they battle these flames mabrisa yeah grad definitely warm and dry out there still at now at this 5 oclock hour 80 degrees relative humidity in the 40th percent help 48 so not that much moisture there, but wind speeds fortunately on the breezy side in the teens sustained winds at 40 Miles Per Hour. Lets take a look at the air quality out there right now for the bay area. And its not an issue for those of you in the north bay, especially that Northwest Quadrant but for napa starting to notice moderate amount support air particles as the winds starting to shift from the westnorthwest 20 Miles Per Hour or less. So we are noticing the poorest air quality no surprise as the wind shift from west to east into the inland valleys of the east bay tracking por an unhealthy air quality specifically for cities like san ramon and even livermore and conquered, so if you do have any respiratory or pulmonary issues, specifically those of you young and you know heart make sure to limit your Outdoor Activity as much as you can we are still going to notice unhealthy amounts of air particles even for your friday, but the poorest in the east bay, so thats still going to be an issue there just because of that change in wind direction going to get more of a cool sea breeze cooling down temperatures in the coming days and also adding that relative humidity with that increase in moisture content in addition to that we have a spare the air alert in effect from now through sunday just because of smoke and ash impacts temperatures out there right now for your thursday night, 67 degrees for downtown San Francisco, another warm day and this should be our average daytime high and we are right now in the low to mid 70s for the east bay shoreline widespread 80s as you make your way in line with concord n livermore at 88 degrees napa in the low 80s as we just saw but flirting with 90s for those of you in santa rosa, so current wind speeds out there right now tracking winds sustained at around 30 Miles Per Hour less for downtown San Francisco fortunately, calmer conditions for everyone else but we are going to notice that increase in moisture with the return of that marine layer and cooler temperatures ahead. More coming up my next full fore welcome back to our continuing wildfire coverage cal fire saying tonight about 11,000 lightning strikes over the weekend sparked more than 370 fires burning in the state. And while Officials Say most of the fires have been put out thanks to address a firefighting there are still more than 10,000 firefighters on the front lines battling. 23 major fire complexs 3 of which are right here in the bay area. The flames are proving difficult to fight because of the high heat the low humidity. And the strong winds that are expected to continue into the weekend at least to a certain extent. We have more wildfire coverage ahead including well be speaking live with it. Air quality expert here in the bay area when will all that smoke start to dissipate. We have that answer coming dear california, we know these are challenging times. And with summer here, energy bills are rising. Together, we can save energy and money. By taking steps to stay cool while using less. Keep safe and keep it golden. Some breaking news out of vacaville and its actually good news. Some evacuations have just been lifted in the city of Vacaville Police theyre tweeting just 3 minutes ago, quote were happy to report Evacuation Orders have been lifted for the remainder of the city with the exception of the following area south of foothill drive and west of alamo drive from monta vista avenue to interstate 80. Again that news just in is. We now take a live look outside San Franciscos embarcadero right here. You can see hazy skies normally that would be a thick fog bank this time of year here in mid august or so but as the wildfires continue to burn the smoke and ash from those fires says settling down here in the bay area in some spots and were currently experiencing some of the. Unhealthiest air quality on the planet believe it or not and you can believe it one of the best things you can do to protect yourself from unhealthy air. Stay inside stay out of that smoke here but how much longer is going to stick around joining us now for a little bit of insight is ralph mormon with the bay area air Quality Management district, ralph. Thank you for joining us tonight. So lets cut to the chase how much longer you think. Well we have a situation where you know you dont expect wind conditions to change a whole lot between now and tomorrow but its possible on sunday, we may have some cooling that low assist in terms you know being able we do some of the fire and its its all dependent on wind direction and fire containment right now a lot of those fires are not contain. Depends again on the wind direction in terms of what were getting so you know right now and yesterday we got a lot of impact from things that work. Fires are occurring in napa and also in the a marine we manage this kind of scared that today and hopefully that will continue through tomorrow. Interesting you mention them are in fire. Theres one burning and point raise in an ordinary circumstance resources would be thrown at that and it would be extinguish pretty quickly but since its not really threatening people and homes that fires. Got a burning out of control and a lot of that smoke is said to be settling in not only marine but the San Francisco area and obviously some other parts of the bay when you look around the bay area are there specific regions that seem to be experiencing some of the worst air quality these days. Yes is moving on the wind direction like you know we expect the eastern parts of the bay area so. From livermore all the way up all the way up to santa rosa to get the most unhealthy air thats currently happening. Today you know well we because of the change in wind direction from yesterday too avoid a lot of the smoke that you know happening yesterday in an insular and santa clara valley. So the worst right now is really in the eastern parts of the bay area. These days with the pandemic so many parents are getting their kids outside is really one of the only ways to. Get their willies out if you will you cant really go indoors to many places, whats your advice to parents who might be skittish about taking their kids out to player for a walk should you wear the masks that you have been wearing for the pandemic whats your advice. So you know if you can smell smoke, youre going to get impacted by it so basically the best thing is if youre smelling smoke, you should stay indoors with the windows and doors closed. If if youre using an air conditioner keep it on recirculate otherwise all those particles are going to be coming right into your home. You know in the future its possible to make a sort of a clean room where you get to have a soldier air filter. Device put that in there and that will provide a clean room thats not an option. Each county usually has a clean air facility usually a library or some place that has filtered air system which is a place you can go if need be so generally i would avoid Outdoor Activities if youre smelling smoke at all. Again you know we expect could continue for a couple days hopefully. Sunday things weather cools theres more containment. But you know all all depend on these factors which are really sort of. Not in our control at the moment but for now spare the air alert through sunday, correct. Well ralph gorman with the bay area air Quality Management district we appreciate your time hope that the situation improves. Alright checking in now with kron fours meteorologist Mabrisa Rodriguez who has been tracking the wind conditions and. How that is all relating to the air quality mabrisa hey theyre granted. Yeah fortunately wind conditions going to shift from the west northwest were going to get more of a cool sea breeze influence. Right now our fog us nowhere in sight off the coast. Why were noticing those hazy clear skies out there right now in above average temperatures but by tomorrow were going to see the return of that marine layer we are going to notice a fog bank returning along the bay area of coastline even making its way throughout the east bay shoreline as well still going to remain fairly clear though for those of you in land, but we are heading in the right direction as far as relative humidity goes and cooler temperatures heading our way tomorrow right now very hazy skies. A lot of port air particles out there right now so limit your Outdoor Activity as weve been saying all day long overnight lows tonight still going to be on the mild side widespread low to mid 60s upper 60s though for those of you in concord in antioch just cooling down to 72 degrees so still have a warm air mass in place during the overnight hours. But tomorrows daytime highs going to cool down a bit so still going to be about 5 to 10 degrees above average downtown San Francisco cooling down into the mid 70s low 80s for the east bay shoreline like oakland and hayward 87 degrees for those of you in san jose with mid 90s in the tribe alleys and force anna rose as well napa in the low 90 so still going to be warm inland, but we are going to notice little change in the coming days and on monday could actually see remnants of what is now Tropical Storm genevieve out in the eastern pacific that could bring us another round of popup thunderstorms with that risk of dry lightning a little bit too early to tell how it will impact the bay area going to keep us dry for now, but certainly going to keep an eye on that in the coming days back to hugh grant. Thank abrasive well as the fires continue to burn cal fire tonight is issuing new guidance for people might be asked to leave their still to come on kron 4 news at 6 we have new evacuation alert just issued late this afternoon at several fires are still raging out of control in the bay area. The latest on the fight to put them out as more and more homes have gone up in flames also at cal fire. Representative giving his insight on whats happening with the fire situation keep it here kron 4 news at 6 is coming up next with vicki liviakis. Frias local news stations.
