Fine. Im sure their lawns are full of smoke and look at the left side of your screen you can see the smoke and the flames still there they easily could have been killed. Look at the hillside right behind them completely charred and then to the left of them as well thats also charred so those flames easily could have jumped into their field, but it never did. Apparently according to sources that people who live here they water this area very well for the llamas to have their food and because of that you can see the grass is much greener here then on the other side. Yes, its burned, but there are patches of a lot of yellow indicating dry vegetation. So because of that it looks like the llamas are saved and i just noticed over there on the right side of your screen a couple of cows. Theyre doing just fine as well among Pleasant Valley road driving into this location. There are many homes great news to pass along there are many homes that are still intact, theyre not allowing people to go back in. Unfortunately a handful of homes. Without a home as the fire continues to burn and you guys have faced many challenges i mean the terrain its really rough. But also you guys have some personnel challenges as well currently we have a 591 personnel assigned to this the to the many fires around the state. And makes it very difficult to get resources to help fight this fire you. Now for a lot of people and ive seen some people out here this morning. He just do not want to leave this is their home. He yourself you dont live too far from here and im so sorry and youre also experience in this as well. What would your advice be to people who maybe dont want to leave. Well if they see a evacuation warning go out. My for First Responder advice is um to ah take that seriously. It is very important for the safety of a the public in the safety of first First Responders as well. Thank kevin garcia, thank you so much for joining us this morning and again if youre watching at home on your screen. Its going to county has responded not only back to being its rinse Operation Center deploy additional staff, some sort feel operations were also activated operating temporary evacuation point some county fairgrounds as well as the co located emergency shelter. A complete thank you we are also joined the nichols from cal shes because i dont know if you have a brief report out you want to follow chris godley there with any Additional Information you can provide. Thank you. So the fires this getting Additional Resources into the area. Has it really is aware, but the amount of fire activity across the state resources have been have been premium. The good news for us specifically on the wall for fires that we are the priority fire for the entire l a new light. That doesnt pay enough attention to whats going on. The state right now. I dont know what does resources were able to maintain that line long sweet water springs road last night has gotten over the road a little but it did not make the run as we anticipated and the burning conditions overnight were not as severe as they were the night prior. We did and push down towards and west side road yesterday unfortunately during the afternoon. And then we have significant impacts to that area so were still evaluating at today. But the myers fire is looking much better. I want to jinx where were at where where able to hold that fire west of myers, gray road. And then this currently south of fort ross road so it is in a confined area and not continuing to grow at this point. And as director godly put out there. The stewarts fire from yesterday. We through the Aerial Assets that we had at it and 17 fire engines from our agency and across an agencies across the county due to the commitment of resources here in the county. Unfortunately that fire continue to grow in size so its been a determined that we will allow that fire to burn into the eu walbridge so we can make sure that allocating the resources that we have to make sure that were keeping communities safe as these fires continue to grow so the stewarts fire will become a division of the overall. Walbridge fired this morning and that firefight is progressing well with the fact that weve got lake sonoma at the heel of that fire and were working addressing the left flank of that fire. So that it does not impact the top end of the West Dry Creek valley, any more than it has to. What thatll. As far as updated anchorages i believe that director godly it 14,500 acres or teen walbridge and. 3,000 acres for the myers both fire still 0 contained. Thank you chief. Will go ahead and open it up to questions for either direct or godly chief nichols or apollo involved with a center is on fire. So its a little cooler today welcoming in an onshore flow with the marine layer all these factors. The we like to see weve got 2 good days of this. We may lose some of that support over the weekend as temperatures may jump a little bit going on. On our saturday look at the shot from to run or if you saw this about a half hour ago or so we kind of a clear shot except for that heys going on, but now. Think it might be the marine layer coming back again but in the foreground looks like its covering us up a little bit almost current winds here we have him out of the northwest up and miranda if youll notice and quite active. Those winds are. Meanwhile elsewhere across the bay com to Single Digits for those winds again it will be onshore sort of becoming do westerly temperatures now weve got 60s some 70s poking out a little bit in the east bay 50s 60s up north 66 san jose for comparison boy, the east bays really trailing by almost a dozen degrees. Also School Districts in Solano County have cancel Distance Learning for the rest of the week. And well take you i take a look at this map that shows the current air quality in the bay area the smoke filled skies from the wildfires triggering an extended spare the air alert in all 9 bay area counties and just because were wearing mask doesnt mean were protected from everything kron 4 says he can do and has more on that. Bay area air Quality Management district has now extended the spare the air alert through sunday. A historic speech from senator Kamala Harris taking center stage as he accepted the nomination for Vice President of the Democratic National Convention Last night. Good morning signed 20 welcome back to the kron 00 04am morning news, lets go ahead and get a check of the forecast and eva things are going to cool down a little bit. Well not as warm i will take it though you and more moisture in the atmosphere which is another good thing too good morning. Marty good morning, everybody were jumping over to sfo real quick to give another kind of i deal with the skies are looking like were getting a little bit better blue skies aloft here some leftover fog or haze little leftover just a touch there. Temperatures are starting to move a little bit any ox up to 79 now but elsewhere in the east bay, pretty much 60s 70s for this hour up to the north bay 50s and 60s mixture, 66 san jose in much of the peninsula still in the 50s. Now that High Pressure still here but its starting to wane allowing in that little frontal boundary get more progress well call kind of hazy going on for today because of some of the fog that we have well some of the smoke rather than we have then that onshore wind will be in place for this afternoon tonight and then for tomorrow as well sort of be working in tandem to bring those temperatures down increase that marine layer. Lets check that part of the program out here as we head on into tonight theres the flood the recovery of the humidity levels and you can see the progress in the central valley, so just about the entire bay area is pretty green at this hour which is close to typical now compared to the dry scenario. Weve had just about all week long it does dry out a little bit tomorrow afternoon and returns again with the onshore flow. All right so putting it all together its minor calling going on not as warm. The onshore flow returns for the weekend is a little bit of a pop on saturday just temperature wise, retreating a little into sunday, then for the early next week were looking for unsettled weather on monday. Not exactly sure all the pieces together with all of this. What were worried about is maybe some lightning dry lightning with all of that because we have the warm of the rain happening a lot too high. It will evaporate for striking the ground would like to get some rain out of this week and 73, San Francisco 79 going on for open 87 for san jose. Now as far as highs today across the region. Were sub 100 which is worth celebrating a little bit about couple degrees below that of antioch unconquered 92 for livermore east bay shoreline pretty much in the lower 80s with 90s 80s up in the north bay 87 san jose about some greens happening around the beaches, Half Moon Bay for example around 68 coming up in a bit of course well be checking in the 4 zone forecast whats going on in your neighborhood as well as that extended which has a thunder bolt on our marty all right dave thanks a lot. All of these wildfires are happening right in the middle of this blistering heat wave. Lets go ahead and take a look at a map that shows the areas where those fires are burning. The l a new lightning complex fires are burning in sonoma lake napa and solano counties. The woodward fire is burning near Point Reyes National seashore the scu complex fire consists of several fires burning in contra costa Alameda Santa clara stannis law and san joaquin counties. Now lets focus on the l and you from complex fire. This map shows the area where the fire has burned so far is outlined in red on your screen. It has crept into parts of vacaville and move towards fairfield as well. Evacuation orders are in place in parts of both of those cities kron fours will tran has the latest now from vacaville this morning. I want to show you another home on Pleasant Valley road that was destroyed by the fire. This one at one time im sure was a big beautiful home. Its still smoldering at this time after catching fire in the overnight hours. Yesterday you can see its just rubble at this point. Well walk around here just to show you. Just how horrible the situation is fortunately. We did not hear of anybody inside this home being injured or killed by the fire, but look for yourself at one time fully furnished beautiful belongings. Valuable items instead this morning you can see it looks like a moonscape everything is either crumbled melted. It looks like an explosion and over there. Look at that its still smoldering at this time. And they want to step back a little bit just to show you the landscape Pleasant Valley road. This area was shut off to the public. As people had to flee for their lives when they got the knock at the door by the Sheriffs Department this really nothing left to come back to foremost a Pleasant Valley road there are offshoots of this road where neighborhoods are still intact look at this field here this home caught on fire but that field looks pretty much intact. It did destroy the trees in front of this house here. Fell to the ground theres a boat off in the distance a little bit chart look at how hot the heat was. This a onetime obviously was. Metal it was straight, but the heat was so intense that it actually twisted the metal. Heres the side of the house in the back of the house. Still on fire off in the distance you can see the cars just destroyed as well. Still smoldering, and that pays off in the background that is not fog thats the smoke is still sits on top of us, breathing is still very difficult. Fortunately, it is not windy at this time and we dont see any embers flying around that could cause other fires in this area we do know that at least 50 structures were destroyed. Thousands of others are still in harms way. Well thats just heartbreaking to see well we want to continue our focus on the l a new lightning complex fire which has now increased to 131,000 acres burned. They are affecting people who live in Sonoma County and earlier this morning we got an update from Sergeant Juan valencia is with the sun up Summit County Sheriffs Department. I was working closely with cal fire. In the mister that were going to have to do any further evacuations. The total acreage for the walker expired little its 14,500 acres. What yearold person can and information that i have teams morning was at first, i was kind of brain cells. So theyre going to try to attack that with by eric black today. So the thing i want to remind the or weeks. I think health is in a heavily impacted especially northern california. All the agencies are court with the high low siren. So if you hear the highlands from which sounds very different than a regular sired by the person that its an emergency and we are asking people to evacuate immediately. Also sending a officer door to door to contact people. And were also using our social media we do Everything Everything is all the message in a motion spanish to reach Dollar Community and then at this time right now we have a total of approximately 30,000 people that have been evacuated in. Parts of northern Sonoma County in washington county. Started you mentioned that the fire seems to be moving south. Uh what does that does that a new threat to any subdivisions or any people who are living in the path of the fire. Here are the fire it to a north. Armstrong that top of armstrong would and yet its obviously a big concern about why we could not a tory vaccination better if you get people out there were fire personnel to go in there and fight the fire due to occur. You know what theyre good after expert in that field. So now that were getting the population are better able to go under by fire and not worry about he backed motion. Unfortunately this is our 3rd big part within the last couple years, yeah. It its safe to say we do have some experience now from the community the public looking at us or for direction. We do have your members are refusing to evacuate. But we do remind them that its important not to evacuate because now theyre going to put our see your firefighters bp at risk we have to go up there the back end. Rescue them. What are some of top things that you have learned over the past 3 years in terms of communication with the residents in terms of just how you get the word out to to people that its time to get out. Im truly important that we provide clear Accurate Information that theyre at and very quickly. Because. Public safety is in danger. So when we are able to do that in both english and spanish. I believe that there is some of the best beer in value, thats been triggered by. Now another ah huge a fire in an area. I believe our messaging is really important she keeping people calm and not stress. Yeah. Well Sergeant Juan valencia thank you so much for joining us and taking some time out of your very busy morning. And we wish you nothing but the best as you work your way through yet another fire in Sonoma County. Thank you. Well happening now officials in marine county holding a briefing for the fires in the north bay then burn up to this 0. 1500 acres with 0 containment, lets listen in to improve. Holding on the north and south side of the fires. Thats what were focusing on today and tomorrow resource demand has been very high for firefighters and equipment and engines. And the access into this fire is little bit difficult for half a hike in in troops going in and out of some very thick heavy fuels. Its those who view that are familiar with the Coastal Range and the fuels in the trees and the vegetation thats what were dealing with an unprecedented dry temperatures from the lightning. Afterwards, so usually its cold and foggy but not right now tormund sunny and thats having a major impact on fire behavior and fire activities. Thank you. Good morning, jason emery county fire chiefs and i just want to start by thanking the community. Youve all been very supportive of weve been passing along the appreciation. To the firefighters that are here on the front lines as our incident bernard mentioned then and captain schneider. Or an unprecedented times and we said that you know for the last several years but my 25 year career in the fire service. Statewide lead never seen this level of drawdown and that means that the aircrafts engines fire crews. All the tools we use on these fires. You know theres great competition across the state even the western United States. Aircraft and other things are being prioritized the fires where they have an immediate life threat. And and structure loss. So that is part of the reason youre not seeing across lying this fire. This because were were holding right now and a pretty good position. You know we do resources those being National Resources but not necessarily a critical resource that related to structures being lost. Or peoples lives being rest we do have evacuation warnings in place. Id like to highlight thats there. Because we need you ready if the wind picks up in the fire starts to move. We may issue evacuation orders and we ask that when we do that. You be ready to leave immediately. You know i kept the shockers point. This fire has been in full suppression mode sense census started the other day. We put every resource we could on it immediately. The axle access. This fire is very difficult has been since the beginning and theres a lot we cant do in these heavier feels without aircrafts port and other and Incident Management Team a federal Incident Management Team has been ordered theyre coming from montana. Thats an indication also how drawn down the western United States is were looking forward to getting them in this weekend in assisting us. In making this a successful event for everyone. So we appreciate your patience. Notice the stressful thank you for your time. Zoom call a woodward fire a press conference just giving people an update on where they stand with the woodward fire thats burning in napa county 1500 acres have been burned so far 0 a 0 containment understand in marine county were talking about they also mentioned the importance of being ready to leave as soon as you get the word so again just a warning that things can change very quickly and that you need to have you go bag a new car packed and ready to go just in case also they talked mited resources that are available and that includes the inability to fight this fire by air so theyre still having some issues there and well continue to stay on top of this for you. Throughout the morning we do have continuing coverage of the fires on our website as well kron 4 dot com and also remember to download the kron 4 mobile app youll get updates 24 7 really come in handy. The time like this. Also the forecast comes in handy at a time like this because weve been sweltering over the past several days were going to check in with days borrow has more on the weather heidi ok good morning morning, good morning, everybody still that hazy sunshine we see at the bay bridge toll plaza going on because of the additional smoke that weve been having all over the bay area upstream whats going to help us out a little bit as a frontal boundary to provide a little onshore wind and some of that marine layer to work out here. Throw it into the firefighting efforts a bit that will help a little bit as opposed to being dry and hot numbers are starting to move though the far east bexar antioch coming in at 79 now 74 conquered, 69 livermore the east bay shoreline is the lower to middle 60s. A mixture of 60s and 50s up north 66, san jose but were trailing this morning compared to where we were from yesterday in some cases about a 1000 degrees by good chunk air of the east bay little bit up to the north bay around santa rosa. So thats nice to see as well futurecast winds though were talking just earlier about these winds they do pick up they are on shore but they will be winds out of the northwest it looks like up in the north bay. Meanwhile, the peninsula and San Francisco kind of more due west going on not as pronounced on the east bay shoreline but some of those valleys in lucknow get some of that treatment thats going to linger looks like till late tonight again bringing in that marine layer too. So the lowdown blood lining up for a 2 day by 1 oclock word 8991 by 4. Not the triple digits not 100 plus so its a bit of an improvement with all of that will have a check in your 4 zone forecast in a bit marty. All right dave thanks a lot.
