Very nicely here even the foreground just give this a couple of hours and we should see big improvements. A matter of fact the Golden Gate Bridge shot. But almost kind of clear at the very lower levels right at the base where that it will hire up as we get rid of the fog issue and there you see the clearing up that happens fairly quickly this morning, so well actually see it quicker than we did yesterday. Temperatures around the bay. Weve got 50s and 60s mixture off to the east bay santa rosa will chilly up there 49 54 going on for napa 55 San Francisco in 59 meanwhile to the south bay in san jose, up in the north a little cooler this morning and the south bay off to the east bay a touch warmer again all that will be corrected later on today we line up like this 75 by 11 by 2 were talking 87. Its going to be quite toasty as we get into the afternoon hours, however, no recall quite a heat spike will go and investigate all that coming up in a bit robin. Sounds good. Thank you dave what we have an updated look at coronavirus cases right here in the bay area and we broke it down county by county so check it out of your screen. Right now Alameda County continues to lead with more than 11,000 cases Santa Clara County is not far behind with nearly 10,000 cases and 91 deaths now in total the bay area now has more than 51,000 cases and 796 test. You can get a complete breakdown of the cases and deaths by county and city its always available on our website just head over to kron 4 dot com. On the peninsula this morning businesses in San Mateo County now preparing to close again after 3 days on the states covid19 watch list kron fours reyna harvey live in daly city this morning she has all the details rana. Yeah mari the residents i talked to this morning are frustrated to say the least they say were going to be closing again and told him yet a strong possibility so the county spent more than 3 days. On the states watch lists and county officials when they first learned that the county and ended up on the watch list. They were not too optimistic about being able to get those numbers down in the threeday span time. So they started notifying businesses letting them know that they could have to close their doors yet again a lot of businesses. I didnt fall on that list here salons we have barber shops along with nail so loans if you looking forwardrto possibly getting back to the gym and Fitness Centers. Those are also on the list places of worship along with places that you hold cultural ceremonies like weddings or funerals even also offices for noncritical infrastructure sectors are also on that list now the only exception being made there if any of the following businesses can be modified to operate outside or by pickup theyre going to have to close their doors altogether now the countys case rate is based on a 14 day rolling average they look over 14 days and look at those cases out here in the county its around a 110 positive cases out of the population they take that sample out about a 100,000 people to look at the positive rate out here. Now the state threshold when they decide to include you is when you go over a 100 cases out of that population so the county has surpassed that consecutively. Now officials are just going to be closely monitoring like theyve been doing over the past few weeks cases in the different areas throughout the county to see when and if they can allow these businesses to safely open their doors again and marty like i mentioned earlier a lot of people just frustrated with the possibility of closing but they know that its all into line with trying to keep them safe over these next few weeks marty. All right ray thanks a lot for that live report from daly city of San Mateo County. Now added to the list of closures robin. Well happening today here silas and salon owners they want action as their salons remain close. Theyll meet today to come up with a plan to push city leaders for safe reopening. A great job, the window now says were not allowed to open its 1600 hours of just indication the murders and carefully know how to do here they want to make sure. I have lost a ton of money in income and i feel like everyone else has the same situation going on. Governor newsome is allowing salons to open only if they can provide Services Outdoors with restrictions but San Francisco and alameda counties or not. Now to the north bay this morning, a hate Crime Investigation is underway. After of the laos City Council Member was targeted with racist graffiti at his downtown office. Surveillance video shows 2 people spray paint enough offensive language early friday morning. The graffiti displayed blm and if an vallejo pd but it also includes a racial slur as the citys only black councilmember hakim brown says his outspokenness might be the reason he was singled out. Residents we talked to dont believe the destroying city properly property is a solution. The first time i had to do these kind of my time as an elected official. I think that theres no place in our community for and hate speech very frustrated, sad to see. You know that kind of language because you know my moms going to see that my son is going to see that the community is going to see their little scary. Its a little scary, its immature childish in its unbecoming of our world today. The layers police chief called the vandalism disgusting and said quote this is a despicable act of hate that will never be tolerated in the city of oil. Health officials in San Francisco say that were in the major surge right now of covid19 cases and of course we know the best way to fight the spread of coronavirus is to physically distance to wear a mask and of course wash your hands. But in an interview on friday, San Francisco mayor london breed said that even if we take every precaution. We could still get sick. Weve got to get wearing mask socially distancing and not getting comfortable. I mean there was a woman a case here in San Francisco where she held a baby shower they warm and stay socially distant in the woman who was pregnant still contract the virus and i think its really you know trying to get people to understand that we are not out of the woods in the virus may be we may be tired of the virus. But the virus is not hired about were going to be living like this for at least another year, so its important that we start to change our behavior to reflect that. Health officials continue to stress the importance of wearing face masks some now say that those face coverings alone just might not be enough. Brian todd reports on the new push for people in some professions to wear face shields and goggles. Doctor deborah birx is now recommending adding a face shield in addition to wearing a mask, the thing about the face shields we think that that could protect the individuals and that it would decrease the ability for them to touch their eyes and spread viruses. Well as those droplets coming towards them. So theyre 2 different technologies for 2 Different Reasons her colleague doctor Anthony Fauci spoke about teachers getting back to classrooms this year saying while they dont need to wear medical grade protective equipment, the minimal things you might want to do. Is you could use. Just a mask and eye goggles and possibly gloves. Fauci later clarified that in cnns town hall saying he wasnt recommending that all americans should wear face shields still all of this is raising questions about whether masks have been enough to protect us from coronavirus all these months masks will provide a very significant measure of protection and what it really is doing is its protecting everybody else from you the point here is now. That wearing a face shield could provide extra protection experts say face shields or goggles are especially important for teachers who could be more vulnerable if they deal with younger children in classrooms or likely to be in environments where children might pull down their masks are not being very compliant with them. And it might get cost close to the face there is concern that you could get arrested for a drop was in the eyes, but what about the rest of us for that trip to the grocery rpstore should we be Wearing Masks and face shields. The bottom line here is at minimum you should be wearing a mask if you want to add a face shield goggles large classes that is all going to help reduce spread. Public Health Experts acknowledge getting large segments of the u. S. Population to wear masks has been a struggle. People have bought that the discomfort the inconvenience the very principle of and there could be even more resistance to the appeal to wear face shields many may complain that theyre hard to find bucket paying the extra money. But experts have some reassurance. Really i protection and facials are much more available and theyre much cheaper than people realize a lot of companies are able to print them and make them for a couple of dollars. Well that was brian todd reporting. The cdc says that say shell should not be used as substitutes for mass theyre supposed to be an added layer of protection and also says that newborns and infants should not wear them. Health this morning usually summer means backyard barbecues and picnics but of course this is not a usual summer. The latest restrictions on dining outside leave a lot of us wondering whats safe when we go outdoors so all bay area Health Officials close everything down including Outdoor Dining our Health Expert, karen dolan joins me with some tips on safely gathering outdoors and karen good morning. It is safer outside compared to inside when we talk about the coronavirus isnt it. It sure isnt the weathers going to be beautiful this weekend. So this is a great time to be outside. So when youre outside definitely you know those respiratory droplets are going to be dispersed it says its a scientific facts and nothing about the science has changed and interesting enough that the japanese did a study. And they found that your is 20 times higher to get the virus inside than it is outside that make sense, yeah or not and the eu the raises are also going to help kill the virus. So definitely that said a great thing another great reason to be outside just wear your sunscreen. Yeah, of course in care and did that study showed just how long it takes to you the raise to kill the virus. No i didnt i didnt see that all right well, you know we could do an entire segment on just how important it is for us to socialize we really do need that social interaction with others dont we. We do and and its and to be restricted from being social and seeing family are being together with its its very frustrating a lot of people are our suffering from depression and anxiety because of that so im really encouraging you to be able to meet with your families just do it safely do it safely and that includes limiting the number of guests right. Right so if you do have an outdoor well i encourage it to be outdoors outdoor just limited to and another set of families or you know keep it keep that limits mall because of fact that youre youre just going to reduce your risk of contracting the virus. You also recommend that you should just as you mention keep it to one household in other words. Just one set of neighbors or or one set of friends dont dont mix different households together because that would increase the risk right. Friday, it increases exponentially because you think one person can to how many people that person has come in contact with ryan and so just try to keep it to one family at a time. What do you recommend as a safe number of guests. Well so what i say look definitely less than 10. Okay, i would be as a safe this can try to keep it a small as possible. Yes, so let less fewer than 10. And also from the same household. Yeah, you also lose your spatial awareness when you have a lot of people in what in one place all of a sudden you find people crowding together because they feel like theres theres not enough room in the back yard away from the party may be right and you feel very comfortable and its just not normal to talk to someone that youre close to 6 feet away. You know he does have this tendency to one of the closer in and talk to that person yeah i found that to be true and you know we get with with my kids and i find that you want to get closer to them. And i really have to remind myself not to hug to them and you have to run i have to remind myself to stay that 6 feet away. And that 6, 8, foot distance just doesnt feel natural. No not at all not at all one thing you talk about as well is is if youre going to party theres going to be music. But keep the music down. Yes keep the music down because when it gets loud people going to start shouting and he starts outing are talking really loud youre going to expel moore those respiratory respiratory droplets to still keep the music softer in thats just another reason why to keep the numbers of people down because the more numbers of people then youre also going to be talking ladder and shouting so, and another reason to get to keep that were looking at. Were looking at your tips on the screen right now and youre bullet point number 2 is to limit Alcohol Consumption does Drinking Alcohol affect susceptibility to the coronavirus. Well it just makes you feel a little bit more you got to lose your sense of awareness and it just doles you sense is still for that reason you know you feel tend to not stay within that 6 foot right just right. Yeah thats youre just youre just going to get closer to people just naturally, yeah, youre right you kind of lose the sense of barriers i right another tip that you have is to use separate serving utensils when serving food. Yes, and when we had a Little Family a couple weekends ago i had a separate utensils servings utensil for each family so we are we had one big salad but everybody had a name on there you tend to let certain idea. Yeah so they they just handled the family had their own. Thats one way to just you know passing around germs what about just separate and knives and forks utensils for each family aside from the serving utensils the individual utensils yeah and i recommend having those rap and sometimes some of those plastic utensils they do come individually wrapped id if you could purchase owes or of kind of wrapped and then separately and have those ready for the families because he just dont want people going through the in touching all the forks and knives and and and such just havent already sees grab yours and and eat her food and also as a guest you dont want to be wondering where of these utensils right exactly in and whos touched them in and all of that. Another thing you can bring your own utensils if you feel market thats a great idea to yeah and you can bring your own food bring everything just oh yeah that brings up another point should you bring your own your own chair. I recommend it, i mean it sure makes it easier on the host you from it because you would want to sanitize everything young for your guests come and that ties him after so it just makes it easier on everyone and its if its outside during a camping chair, which is fabric is oh its just better to bring your own and and just make it easier on everybody and. We do said that what if that sense of were yeah. And above all. Take your mask. Yes and thats another thing even though youre outside. We still have to Pay Attention to the that the rules of the mass killing. And especially when youre around the food and serving food definitely karen thank you for these tips be well. Its im jimmy dean and uh, i wish i could tell ya how i feel about a mornin like this. And that includes a good hearty breakfast. You need somethin to kinda warm the whole body up and gets it going. Low priority calls for service away from the Police Department to non Law Enforcement agencies. I want black girls growing up today to rise up not in spite of their upbringing here in this city, but because of it was that a lot of talk and no money behind it you know. In my own personal opinion i am moved by the process and the fact that theres been some allocation. San francisco Police Department chief bill scott said in part that while the cuts are significant. They are cuts that we can absorb and that will not diminish our ability to provide essential services at the end of the day all san franciscans including the San FranciscoPolice Department benefit from a city that is more just and that and more just and equitable unquote its important to note that this is the mayors proposed budget. Now if approved that newly proposed San Francisco budget will prevent employee layoffs. But it will also delay pay raises kron fours dan kerman explains how some workers may have to make some sacrifices. We had a lot of plans. This one requiring the closure of a 1. 5 billion dollar deficit due to the Economic Impacts associated with the coronavirus but she says if City Employees are willing to play ball. There wont have to be layoffs or service cuts we need them to agree to delay any plan wage increases. For 2 years right to raise that the mayor placing. But and sing the budget squarely on the backs of. Frontline workers. Theresa rutherford with s e i u local 1021, which represents 16,000 city workers says employees have already deferred raises for 6 months this year totaling 49 Million Dollars. She says the likely have to defer a similar amount next year. She says asking them to give back 24 months worth of raises is asking too much. These are some of the lowest paid workers in the city that were talking about were talking about janitors wake up in the book kirks were talking about nurses. Were talking about nurse assistance were talking about museum guards most of us are women of color. People of color. You know who cant even afford to live in San Francisco. So or economic situations are domestic economic situations still continue to rise we still are facing the same challenges. No later than october 1st. Well to the north right now police are looking for the man who assaulted a couple who asked him to wear a mask. The altercation happened on the gertrude or trail thats near phoenix lake a wednesday morning. Rangers searched the area, but they did not find the suspect one local who frequents the area says that she stunned that people refuse to wear a mask. Yeah, its a huge problem. Because the numbers keep going up. And they say you know science says the. This will make a difference. Posted signs say masks are required if youre within 6 feet of anyone anyone with information on the attack can contact them or and municipal Water District ranger station. Well Health Officials in San Francisco say that were in a major surge of covid19 cases we know that the best way to combat the spread of coronavirus is to physically distance wear a mask and of course wash your hands. But in an interview on friday mayor london breed said that even if you take every precaution you could still get sick. Well Public Health officials continue to stress the importance of wearing a face mask and theres some now who say face coverings alone may not be enough. Brian todd reports on the new push for people in some professions to wear face shields and goggles. Doctor deborah birx is now recommending adding a face shield in addition to wearing a mask. The thing about the face shields we think that that could protect the individuals and that it would decrease the ability for them to touch their eyes and spread viruses. Just a mask and eye goggles and possibly gloss. And it might get cost close to the face there is concern that you could get was that for a drop was in the eyes, but what about the rest of us for that trip to the Grocery Store should we be Wearing Masks and face shields. The bottom line here is at minimum you should be wearing a mask if you want to add a face shield goggles large glasses that is all going to help reduce spread. Public Health Experts acknowledge getting large segments of the u. S. Population to wear masks has been a struggle. People have balked at the discomfort the inconvenience the very principle of it and there could be even more resistance to the appeal to wear face shields many may complain that theyre hard to find bucket paying the extra money. But experts have some reassurance. Really i protection and facials are much more available and theyre much cheaper than people realize a lot of companies are able to print them and make them for a couple of dollars. Well that was brian todd reporting. The cdc says that face shields should not be used as substitutes for masks, instead theyre supposed to be an added layer of protection. Cdc also says the newborns and infants should not wear them. Well more than 30 cases of coronavirus have been reported at 4 Costco Stores in the south bay. You see them right here check out the map gilroy Mountain View sunnyvale and center road and san jose testing at the center road costco suggest the infection came from outside the stores. One shopper at the gilroy a location says shes not surprised with the outbreak. I dont feel safe anywhere because people think that this whole well the president that is not the series and people are dying. Well so far no other Costco Stores have reported clusters but officials remind us that frontline workers have a higher risk of covid19. And still ahead this morning socializing safely this summer looks a lot different during the pandemic our Health Expert coming karen on joins us for the dos and donts to make sure you stay welcome back for your health this morning usually summer means backyard barbecues and picnics but of course this is not a usual summer. So when youre outside definitely you know those respiratory droplets are going to be dispersed it says its a scientific facts and nothing about the science has changed so yeah and interesting enough that the japanese did a study. You also recommend that you should just as you mention keep it to one household in other words just one set of neighbors or or one set of friends dont dont mix different households together because that would increase the risk right. Write it, it increases exponentially because you think one person can to how many people that person has come in contact with ryan and so just try to keep it to one family at a time. What do you recommend as a safe number of guests. Well so what i say look definitely less than 10. Okay, i would be as a safe this can try to keep it a small as possible. Yes, so let less fewer than 10. And also from the same household. Yeah, you also lose your spatial awareness when you have a lot of people in one in one place all of a sudden you find people crowding together because they feel like theres theres not enough room in the back yard away from the party may be. Right and you feel very comfortable and its just not normal to talk to someone that youre close to 6 feet away. You know he does have this tendency to one of the closer in and talk to that person yeah i found that to be true and you know we get with with my kids and i find that you want to get closer to them. And i really have to remind myself not to hug to them and you have to run i have to remind myself to stay that 6 feet away. And that 6, 8, foot distance just doesnt feel natural no not at all not at all one thing you talk about as well is is if youre going to a party theres going to be music. But keep the music down. Yes keep the music down because when it gets loud people going to start shouting yeah, he starts outing are talking really loud. Youre going to expel moore those respiratory respiratory droplets so keep the music softer in thats just another reason why to keep the numbers of people down because the more numbers of people then youre also going to be talking ladder and shouting so, and another reason to keep that were looking at. Were looking at your tips on the screen right now and youre bullet point number 2 is to limit Alcohol Consumption does Drinking Alcohol affect susceptibility to the coronavirus. Well it just makes you a little bit more have got to lose your sense of awareness and it just doles you sense is still for that reason you know you feel tend to not stay within that 6 foot right just right. Yeah thats youre just youre just going to get closer to people just naturally, yeah, youre right you kind of lose the sense of barriers i right another tip that you have is to use separate serving utensils when serving food. Yes, and when we had a Little Family a couple weekends ago i had a separate utensils servings utensil for each family so we are we had one big salad but everybody had a name on their utensil that said i do. Yeah so they they just handled the family had their own. Thats one way to just you know passing around germs what about just separate and knives and forks utensils for each family aside from the serving utensils the individual utensils yeah and i recommend having those rap and sometimes some of those plastic utensils they do come individually wrapped already if you could purchase owes or of kind of wrapped and then separately and have those ready for the families because he just dont want people going through the in touching all the forks and knives and and and such just havent already hes grab yours and and eat your food and also as a guest you dont want to be wondering where of these utensils right exactly in and whos touched them in and all of that. Another thing you can bring your own utensils if you feel market thats a great idea to yeah and you can bring your own food bring everything just that brings up another point should you bring your own your own chair. I recommend it, i mean it sure makes it easier on the host you from you because you would want to sanitize everything young for your guests come and that ties him after so it just makes it easier on everyone and its if its outside during a camping chair, which is fabric is oh its just better to bring your own and and just make it easier on everybody and. We do said that what if that sense of were yeah. And above all. Take your mask. Yes and thats the other thing even though youre outside. We still have to Pay Attention to the that the rules of the mass killing. And especially when youre around the food and serving food definitely karen thank you for these tips be well good morning, welcome back it was a very spent a special celebration in stockton for the countrys oldest living marine, hes major bill white.
