Yeah thats right this is all in the mayors Budget Proposal a lot more difficult this time around because coronavirus in the Economic Impacts of that is broad but some changes in the Police Funding thats part of it also the mayor wants to defer some raises for City Employees. We have a lot of plans. What we didnt have plans for was the coronavirus but it certainly have plans for us. So here we are today in a very different San Francisco friday, San Francisco mayor london breed unveiled a very different to your Budget Proposal than she originally conceived. This one requiring the dollar deficit due to the Economic Impacts associated with the coronavirus but she says if City Employees are willing to play ball. There wont have to be layoffs or service cuts we need them to agree to delay any plan wage increases. For 2 years right to raise that the mayor placing. Theresa rutherford with s e i u local 1021, which represents 16,000 city workers says employees have already deferred raises for 6 months this year totaling 49 Million Dollars. She says the likely have to defer a similar amount next year. She says asking them to give back 24 months worth of raises is asking too much. The mayor says her goal is for Young African americans to rise up and thrive in the city. Because of changes like these. The mayor also indicated that she believes the coronavirus will be around at least for another year as a result her proposal also includes 93 Million Dollars for response funds to covid19 live in San Francisco. Its a big job and oakland is doing it right we didnt respond to immediate requests by cutting 14 Million Dollars out of our Police Department but we believe that any further cuts need to be done with full analysis and full Community Participation and transparency and so the 17 Member Task Force will over the next 6 months really analyze what a 50 cut would look like how it would Impact Services how we could replace those services and also during that time oakland will be starting to implement its a macro mobile Crisis Response team a non Police Response to 911 calls where we can send communitybased medics and Mental Health professionals to answer many of the calls that 911 gets it is so important that we have our community at the table helping lead this reinvention of public safety.
