Reporter Jessica Mensch has more on how the cleanup went. Shattered glass shattering the hopes of some protest organizers who saw what was meant to be a peaceful demonstration turned into destruction. Distractions like that set us back 10 more steps lay a shank with the nonprofit and packed helped organize the Community Demonstration saturday evening to honor and remember george floyd 2 months after his death but as it got dark everything shifted. Another group came im not sure if it was just one group but it was several. And everything changed energy changed. Police say several buildings were damaged following throughout the demonstrators marched to a t from windows broken out of city hall to graffiti spray painted on the Attorney Generals Office and county jail. Much of the destruction seems to target government buildings. I understand the fury i understand the rage, however we have to find a way to impact the Community Without being violent because nothing is going to get done if we do it that way police say the group was wearing all black clothing and protective gear and holding various weapons like metal pipes and rocks, according to investigators, some pointed lasers at a Police Helicopter and motorcycle officers. Funding from the countys Emergency Operations center has allowed the program to run, but that money is set to expire at the end of the month. This is an issue taking place all over the country. So what happens next. Well we talk with susan gilmore, shes the president and the ceo of the north bay Childrens Center. And the childcare system across the United States has been fragile long before covid19 and is now on the brink of collapse and this is a system that has been underfunded and undervalued and primarily subsidized by the labor of women of color. And now we are looking because of covid guidelines and regulations operating requirements or make it impossible for many providers to reopen and what that means is that the way the economics are is at the a typical child care a classroom is usually have about 20 our children are more. Those classrooms can now have no more and tell 10 children her cohort but requires more staff to meet the regulate the code of regulations. So this is its we have heard north a Childrens Center for example. We have now opened all 13 of our locations and we can only operate at 46 moment, but it does require a 113 are typical staffing. And thats simply not sustainable and thats how it spends leno for most child care providers across the United States. So we have lost more than 50 of our licensed childcare pass of the nation. My and many providers are probably not going to reopen. If this goes on much longer. Gilmore hopes the child care is essential act is approved in the next recovery package it would put 50 billion dollars into childcare re stabilization and would help providers safely reopen and operate. Well hurricane hanna weaken to a tropical depression after making landfall as a hurricane along the coast, the gulf coast and southern texas yesterday afternoon a depression did bring heavy rain and threats of flooding to sections of the state reeling from the coronavirus pandemic so now theyre dealing with all the storm damage. This is video from edinburg texas which is near the border with mexico. You can see a man theyre swimming in a flooded street and then parts of hawaii under a hurricane warning tonight as hurricane douglas approaches storm surge, strong winds heavy rain and dangerous surf threatening a number of the states shorelines as of this afternoon, douglas was still a category one storm that would make it the 3rd hurricane in modern history to hit hawaii. If it does make landfall. Well lets take a look at the radar for hurricane douglas and see where it is right now and you can see is just passing oahu right there heading toward. The island of kauai either the Garden Island in the wet asylum in the wind changed out lost a lot of us have a soft spot why i think we all do and certainly dont want to see that make a direct and were talking landfall, well talk about the eye of the hurricane actually passing over land. Thats why its so important is because right around that eye you have the stronger storms strongest thunderstorms you get that moving on shore you can get the highest storm surge. And the heavy rain of course to go along with it now they are seeing the heavy rain were going to see maybe 5 maybe 10 inches there might be some isolated places i in kauai where you can see as much as 15 inches of rain maybe the holly bay certainly a dangerous hurricane out there even though a category one hurricane warnings have been extended across the entire Hawaiian Island chain really the focus though is going to continue to make its way han lei and also a kauai as were seeing the storm system moving now north of a honolulu by about 60 miles or so from the center of that storm system sustained winds of 85 Miles Per Hour is moving at a pretty good clip thats some good news. So this is going to be moving out of town by tomorrow afternoon were pretty much done with the watch the track here is going to move a closer to a quien so by about 5 oclock in the morning that will be just passing the island there and thats where well see some very heavy rain right along the pali coast some strong downpours theyre likely going to see some flash flooding in that area as it moves on through that looks like it will finally push out of some open waters begin to weaken somewhat down to Tropical Storm strength but will soon be done with that, heres the remnants of hannah though as it made landfall yesterday bringing the heavy rainfall doppler estimates are showing some of the rain in around brownsville 15 inches of rain some places much as 18 inches that is now move for the south and start to fall apart in parts of northern mexico certainly still going to be some issues there are some flooding and some more heavy rain getting back out west. Weve got some thunderstorms over the Sierra Nevada in the fog moving in along the coastline you see that moving right through the Golden Gate Bridge right now well see more of that overnight tonight tomorrow morning starting out with a blanket of fog given way to some sunshine in the afternoon in San Francisco 70s in oakland by the afternoon to talk with some low 80s in the san jose very nice there. So some really nice weather ahead kind of a baggie troughs and along the west coast by tomorrow afternoon High Pressure in the Desert Southwest of the move a little further to the east that allow the temperatures come down at least a couple degrees. I mean to be a little more fog low cloud cover and some cooler temperatures coming our way through the middle of the week. Fog moving into the bay overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning giving way to some sunshine by the afternoon looks like a pretty pleasant day and then the fog starts to surge back on shore again were going to cool down those temperatures over the next few days in fact as we get to wednesday and thursday these temperatures likely to be running well below the average but High Pressure should start to build in.
