Kron 4 Sarah Stinson live at the long haul at the hospital now she explains why they walked out sarah. Martin thats right. Im live here at the santa rosa Memorial Hospital or caregivers are out here on strike trying to be as safe as possible, but also fighting for change. In the contract that theyve been negotiating with the hospital for over a year now take a look at this you can see there on that side of the street a little more distance and they go all the way down the street along the hospital the Health Care Workers here are people of all kinds imaging technicians. And susie all just people working alongside nurses and doctors to care for people during a pandemic they have been in contract, they said for every year but have not come to a conclusion to sign that contract. Hospital workers say even though coronavirus numbers have been surging in Sonoma County the last 2 weeks they still dont have enough ppe theyre not being given to these types of Health Care Workers, youre looking at now for now on strike. They say some caregivers or even provided an n 95 mask all working and caring for coronavirus patients so Health Care Workers here at santa rosa memorial feel their lives are at risk all while the hospitals offer a contract that they say this unacceptable it reduces paid time off including sick leave this is what that those on strike are saying they also say it also increased Health Care Costs by more than doubling the cost of premiums for the most popular family plan. The hospital has responded saying the contract is a generous package of benefits with a 12 wage increase over the next 4 years the set a little bit more of that in their lengthy oppressed press release but the hospital says they are disappointed their staff is on strike during a pandemic can see part of the statement from this press release on your screen. It says we all want the same thing the competitive pay and benefits package that will allow us to retain and attract the best talent to serve Sonoma County. It is our desire to reach an agreement with the union on the few remaining article so our employees may receive the significant and immediate wage increase over current offer. We provide the hospital has contracted a contracted within an agency to replace the caregivers on strike right now they said the emergency room is fully staffed the only Department Impacted is the Outpatient Imaging Services it will be closed during the strike so patients with appointments they should have already been called about this you know who you are, but that is going to be closer than that theyre running the Hospital Business as usual. Will be here live covering this all morning long. Were going to talk to more people out here and see you know whats making them come out and strike its obviously they said it was a very difficult decision to come out here during a pandemic but they said they cannot wait any longer again over a year in contract negotiations and now theyre just sat there this the last straw of course now were in a pandemic so thats why the hospital was very frustrated to hear that theyre going to go through with this strike. Again join us marty will be here to show you more, but its its actually pretty tame at times he gets a little more excited when someone comes by and hoax but they got their signs out here and theyre willing to do this are going to be here all 5 days of the week. Sarah in that message from the hospital did it mention anything about the claims that the Hospital Personnel are making about a lack of ppe. Yeah i didnt see anything in that press release about pp so that is a question that i have remaining because that is a big concern not only for the people working here but also for patients, its not concerning to hear. I mean thats very concerning to hear that they dont have enough of that and as we heard from that guy he says so that we dont have enough theyre just not being given to us and thats where they are very frustrated. Theyre saying you know what word risking our lives being in this hospital and yet were still not getting what we want at the negotiation table. So well have to continue to fall as marty hopefully we can get a response on that about the pp yeah, lets hope so all right Sarah Stinson reporting live for us from the north bay. And as we head to break, lets take you outside for a live look at conditions at sfo this morning, the fog still hanging in there over a sfo but no delays so far this welcome back everyone, the time 7. 53 before we end this hour, lets get another update on your monday forecast with dave spahr day a good morning robin good morning, everybody bay bridge toll plaza shot were still in the overcast we dont see the sun peering through yet well way for some brightness but later on this morning. Model say they still have to wait too long maybe an hour or so we should start to see at least some brightening going on but still hovering the coast as you can see well into the afternoon as we get thats going to be truly temperatures as well picking off towards the west. So far no movement going on here lower 60s upper 50s for the most part now with the sun with doing its thing we should start to see some the coupling happening here for those inland valleys. Today we expect 6911 oclock by 2 at about 80 or so now we may see one or 2 locations reach about 90, but were really retiring those until we get into the weekend back to you. All right, lets check in on the traffic looking pretty good behind you dave a peek at the bay bridge toll plaza where i think its safe to say the morning commute is pretty much over here for the westbound 80 drive unless something major a big pops up but this is much better compared to the last hour so a delay free trip into San Francisco. A quick peek at the golden gate smooth. We havent had any problems throughout the morning. So a great trip here in both directions, smart. Ok robin will coming up in the next hour, the kron 4 morning news, a north bay town that once made headlines for not having any covid19 cases is now reporting confirmed cases were going to hear from residents there. Plus the san quentin guards fighting for his life after being infected with covid19 well hear from his family. And the second wild Animal Attack in the east bay is leaving a lot of people theyre worried about their safety will have everything we know about this latest attack coming up. Youre watching kron 00 04am morning good morning everybody, thank you so much for joining us on the kron 4 news morning news. It is a monday july Marty Gonzales and im robin wentz and lets start off with a check of your forecast with daves far its been so cloudy and foggy out there where is this sunday. Yeah, good morning morning rob good morning, everybody slow going were in this a pattern its been nice to keep us cool but each morning, well have to deal with the fog and the leftover overcast going to be so much ground fog per se and its got a lift and go to the higher levels but still not entirely mix out. Now its keeps conditions cool not only because it starts us off in a cool no, but also in the later on during the day will do nicely with that job as well. Now lets check on the progress of the fog here by even 10 oclock we saw some pockets in the east bay at that point there will be some scattered fog clouds lights call it. Meanwhile different story to the west in places Like Northern moran. Youre going to still be socked in with quite a bit of that fog cloudiness going on in at the coast we may never see a clear even in the afternoon so were going to keep some scattered clouds going on even in the afternoon hours as the inland areas start to open one of the things weve been watching here are temperatures Slight Movement happening here we have some 61 is on the board here concord in antioch but we also have the same action along the east bay shoreline too. So we dont quite see that separation happening yet which we will by the afternoon upper 50s going on up here in the north bay meanwhile, 57 San Francisco, 63 san jose. Now compare this for 24 hours ago. Pretty much trailing where we were at this time yesterday and just a couple of pockets a little warmer for today with overcast in the background still keeping it mostly cloudy. The fog clouds this is inland valley still as late as this hour. But by 11 should open up their sluggish on the temperature 69 word, 80 by 2 oclock the coming up a little bit later on well be having of course the 4 zone forecast. But you know its going on in your neighborhood a lot of areas still trailing behind where they might have been from this weekend back to you. All right dave, thanks a lot of us get to the news this morning happening right now in the North Bay Hospital workers at santa rosa Memorial Hospital.
