Spike happening in prepare for real summer as well see a lot of 90s on the board marty. All right dave thanks a lot. Well get right to our top story this morning Bay Area Health officials are encouraging everyone to stay home this 4th of july weekend. Now this comes as the state and the bay area continue to see an increase. In coronavirus cases kron 4 Sarah Stinson standing by live in Contra Costa County this morning. She has more on this sarah good morning. Marty i wish it was a good morning, were heading into a 4th of july weekend it falls on a saturday could be better but were also at a point with the coronavirus were seeing a resurgence which means we have to take it as seriously as we did before we flatten the curve and now Health Officials are telling everyone please stay home this 4th of july something we never thought wed here before but why take a look at the numbers, the numbers speak for themselves and that is what our Bay Area Health officers go off of you can see the percentage increases in each county on your screen. I know its a lot of numbers will break all of them down for you, but just to name a few Contra Costa County is seeing a 10129 increase in cases in a 111 increase in deaths from may 31st until yesterday napa county saw a huge huge increase of 207 increase in cases with only a 33 increase in deaths we put all this data provided by each countys Health Department on our website kron 4 dot com for you to review to see which county you live in and compare it to others looking at total numbers Alameda County is still doing the worst in terms of most cases almost doubled in Contra Costa County Bay Area Health officers put out a joint statement urging people to stay home this Holiday Weekend traditionally we go see fireworks we go to parades we have barbecues and we hang out with friends and family. But its getting to the point where Health Officers are even saying dont even gather at the park theyre telling everyone to stay home. They said you should only hang out with people you live with and avoid gatherings if you are going to go outside and you have something planned already make sure youre doing the rear following the rules and weve been going over the rules since about 3 months ago, that means wearing a mask you doing social distancing and making sure that if you feel even from only sick you do not leave your house no i talked to a lot of people this week from monday until now and i will say ive met more people who are taking this serious then not. And a lot of people who are saying im not doing anything for the 4th of july they dont want to risk it just talk to a man here in walnut creek who says im going to watch netflix im going to hang out on a few projects to do he doesnt seem fazed but thats because he says hes way more willing to put his health first then to risk for some 4th of july so well hear from him coming up in the next hour for now, im live in walnut creek Sarah Stinson kron 4 news and you know sarah its a very small sample size but watching the people behind us see most of them if not all of them are Wearing Masks, so thats a good sign. And weve gone from netflix and chilld to quarantine until now haha. Well Health Health experts are sounding the alarm as we head into the Holiday Weekend in the span of just one month california has gone from optimistic too alarmed in the fight against covid19 doctor art rheingold with U C Berkeley School of Public Health says the getting a handle on the virus will take a joint effort and was no vaccine expected until at least next year. Doctor ryan gul says that a spike in infections was likely with the relaxing of restrictions and reopening of some businesses. This is pretty much what youd expect within reason when virus on the right like the one that causes covid19 if no huge problem to deal with and we dont we have limited means. Well the latest numbers from the state now show the infection rate has gone up from just over 4 to now 6 and with no vaccine and without many people following Health Guidelines such as wearing a mask. Doctor ron gol suspects at those numbers will climb. Now to the north bay this morning Sonoma County was one of the first bay area counties to loosen restrictions and now there are some concerns about reopening too quickly. Lately Health Officials have seen a jump in covid19 cases every day and as of thursday to more coronavirus deaths were reported in the county. Developments these new developments may land the county on the governors watch list, which means the possibility of businesses having to close once again and that has city leaders asking the community to remain vigilant. I think our covid dont necessarily surprise me but nevertheless it saddens me greatly try to limit interaction with people as much as possible to avoid any potential transmission of covid. So the county will be monitoring covid19 hot spots and also is encouraging people to follow the Public Health guidelines. If you have to go out be sure to take your mask and where it be sure to keep your distance from others and bottom line remember its best to stay home. Absolutely. Well in the south bay now a new health order will soon go into effect in Santa Clara County. Yeah, well allow hair and Nail Services gyms and small gatherings to resume as soon as july 13th or once its approved by the state kron fours michelle kingston has more. Despite a rise in cases here in Santa Clara County Health Officials are allowing some businesses to reopen but they must follow some pretty specific orders. This virus has proven time and again in communities around the country and around the world. That it will come back with a vengeance if you let your guard down. We will not let our guard down here in Santa Clara County. Health officials are urging residents to protect themselves and their community by celebrating the 4th of july from home this Holiday Weekend and the last 2 weeks county of Santa Clara Health officer doctor sara cody says theyve had fewer coronavirus cases 400,000 residents than any other county in the bay area. But their daily case counts are rising in are much higher than they were at any time in april the number of patients in county hospitals is also increasing in recent weeks weve seen a continued and now accelerating increase in covid19 cases in our county. In surrounding communities and throughout the state despite this they county is moving ahead with reopening some businesses the new health order allows hair and Nail Services gyms in small gatherings to resume but only with strict social distancing protocols in place like the consistent use of face coverings in significant capacity limits just one worker per 250 square feet in just one customer. Per 150 square feet businesses also must report positive cases to the public Health Department Indoor Dining public swimming nightclub stadiums theaters and arenas remain closed. We want kids back in school we want our lives back were going to have to Work Together to make that happen in Santa Clara County, michelle kingston kron 4 news. 4 inmates at the 7 county jail are being treated for covid19 the Sheriffs Office says that there are among 8 inmates who tested positive for the virus. Before it really starts to kind of mix out a little bit. If the shot looked a little bit better couple of hours ago, but so this may show that its starting to do the mixing process here is what it looks like for the golden gate were seeing actually from the bottom of the towers. We can see both the north and the south and its really at the top its being eclipsed a little bit so therefore temperatures really havent had a chance to move much at all. Because this intrusion of fog upper 50s lower 60s that pretty much well do it for now and in future cast for it notes that lower level moisture or fog going on and you can see clearing out nicely and not a problem early tomorrow morning. The winds are kind of interesting on all of this will see the typical uptick happening this afternoon with inland. Heating. Well have a lot more going on for tomorrow, but theyll be a little bit of a change going on as we get into sunday. Some cooler air surging in here so little kind of road a ways some of the high temperatures are looking at 4. Tomorrow a look ahead to what the game plan is its morning fog and clouds that were dealing with this morning, sure breezy and mild for the 4th its sunny and warm to hot spending or respect that we got the 90s coming back again. Inland 80s cover a lot of the east bay. Meanwhile for sunday, not as warm in fewer 90s will be on the board so we have a little change happening there. 80s inland and 70s covering much of the bay now today, 64 of San Francisco 69 going on for oakland and 84 san jose we should open up the skies of arctic air this morning, fog for high temperatures across the wider bay got of those 80s going on up both up in the north bay in the far east bay will where you are placing those with 90s it looks like for tomorrow. Coming up a little bit well take a look at your 4 zone forecast to see whats going on for your day before the holiday and show you the extended first showed you of 4th of july and the ot right now robin is checking in the bay area bridges rubble. I am indeed because some folks have to get to work and some of you are off here at home youre watching us and some folks are out of town. We are experiencing friday light traffic right now into San Francisco. Well maybe its a combination of friday light and Holiday Light because normally its packed at 7. 16 at least backed up to west graham, but im not seeing that so if you do have to come into San Francisco do it now because it looks really good all right off to the san mateo bridge which is one of our busiest bridge us this morning. Its not a bad commute is going to be a little crowded often on west of the toll plaza but overall this is very nice. No problems into foster city or san matteo marty all right robin thanks lot will happening today. The giants will be back on the diamond at oracle park is a return for spring training 2 point oh. Its finally here kron fours will tran live outside the ballpark. He has all the details i will. Good morning marty the only problem is you wont be allowed inside oracle park not during spring training, not during the 16 game season because they want to make sure covid19 does not stop the season 2 point o style. The giants they will begin their season today spring training and then a tomorrow. Check this video out marty they are so in touch with the times. This was released on their page. And you can clearly see that the lockers are spread apart from each other, so its not shoulder to shoulder. The report is more than likely will not be allowed inside. To interview them whatsoever because they dont want covid19 run rampant throughout the giants locker room or any other locker room for that matter. They will practice for the next couple of weeks in of all goes well opening day will be july 23rd and 24th they will not be any games where you see in person. They will be televised only 60 games a season, instead of 162, so the games. Breakdown marty to about 2. 7 games worth meeting thats you cant mess around and lose too many games because you a fall far behind is a sprint not a marathon like were used to for a baseball season, they will crack down on etiquette as well no spitting Sunflower Seeds tobacco bubble gum the pictures when they get to the mound. They are not allowed to lick their fingers before they throw the baseball they will be allowed to bring a rag out there with their hands with the rag and then throw the ball. The games will not be very far from each other. Yes, the giants will still play the dodgers they will play the pod raise, but they wont leave this region. And if they have to play the other league, then maybe as far away as seattle. They dont want people traveling too far same deal with the as as well theyll play their divisional opponents like there. Los angeles angels will play them. If all goes well theyll be crowned a winner, but its going to be very to offer. Many people think this wont be a true season marty unite talk last time we think itll be more special because of all the difficulties that they will go through. As far as the games will just have to be televised and marty i know you watch the games. You will have to create your own kiss cam at home a not for a 7th inning stretch, although that will have to be at oracle gonzalez haha. You know well weve all got to step up during these tough times dont we. Absolutely you know at the bathroom is not long, im not complaining shelterinplace has taught me to really have a section sound every time i get up from the sofa. Anyways so kiss cam will be at home moms and the food will be a lot cheaper thanks a lot less will tran reporting for us. Problem. Well, heres something you dont want to see in your neighborhood trash and lots of it piling up high and hayward. The citys a Maintenance Services director says that his crews been forced to shelter in place just like everyone else that shutdown delay trash and debris collection for about a month except for emergency situations. So crews have been returning to work to returning to work in recent weeks but theyre doing so in staggered shifts and also in some cases theyre working along 4 social distancing. Were stand somewhere between a 5 to 7 day total turnaround time from requests. We were at a high last week about 8 to 9 days. So it does seem to be trending a little bit better. Well the director also says in the past 2 weeks calls for service have doubled to more than 100 per day. But the response turnaround of 8 days. People who work with companies that have at least 15 workers. So now the law expands protections to companies with at least 5 employees republicans and some moderates oppose the bill because they say the law makes it too difficult for Small Businesses to find shortterm replacements. Well happening tonight, President Trump will be celebrating an early Independence Day at Mount Rushmore hell also be delivering the Campaign Speech ahead of the Fireworks Show over the monument. His a speech begins about a 45 tonight, then the fireworks kick off at 00 15pm tonight. Coming up this morning on the kron 00 04am morning news, millions of americans getting ready to celebrate Independence Day. But of course the pandemic is hampering those plans will have everything you need to know ahead of the big weekend. And after the break officials at lake tahoe expecting more visitors than usual this weekend. Well take a look at how the 4th of july there, well build welcome back. Well officials in South Lake Tahoe say that they are expecting more visitors than usual this 4th of july weekend. And now some are asking the visitors to stay away this weekend because of the large crowds, Kristen Simoes has details. And like every 4th of july weekend every Holiday Weekend. It gets busier but especially in this covid environment, them was some areas, closing. Were seeing more intensity more visitation. Parking lots and campgrounds are packed singling roads bumper to bumper and businesses that were struggling 2 months ago are overwhelmed with tourists today for us and theres really been a Silver Lining where you know were reopening and its been really busy because everywhere else is still shut down. But adding to the influx of tourists is a shortage of employees a problem tahoe, typically sees this time of year when the town of 25,000 residents swells to over 100,000 with visitors. But park Officials Say covid demands are making it even harder. Weve had to hire more people to keep up then and keep our staff safe in the public safe. So theres these layers of challenges more people and managers to help take care of it. Really just means Everybody Needs to step up their game and the tahoe better than they found it a big concern. Trash because there arent enough park employees to pick it up another safety, many of the tourists we talked to say despite the crowds, everybody seems to doing the right thing. That from what ive seen i went to the Grocery Store this morning, everyone was in a mask people are really keeping their distance i felt very comfortable. Still with so many tourists this weekend, the advice for those considering heading to tahoe, i would say stay home, its going to be way too packed this weekend stay home come next weekend well i would stay away for the 4th. All right all right well stay home. Were just talking about how much we love tahoe that was Kristen Simoes reporting for us this morning. And the city of San Francisco closing beach parking lots across welcome back everyone, the time is 7. 29 and we need to get an update on the forecast. Yeah, because we have a big holiday ahead of us its going to be a little bit different than what were used to mix still nevertheless its the 4th of july, heres dave spahr martin robin good morning, good morning, everybody actually seeing some sunshine as we head down to the south bay from san jose state funding some blue sky this the future. For everybody not just today but also into the weekend to noting that fog mixing up nicely for us and into tomorrow and its only ever were going to see not much of one and much warmer temperatures expected into the afternoon a right now really havent moved too much. Were getting some lower 60s now on the east bay shoreline finally some 50s up to the north bay and inland also in the 50s to their trailing. Inland as you can see at this hour now were at 71 by a 11 00am by 2 word 81 thats a very weak effort for highs being in the 80s today but were going to do but better for that tomorrow was the 90s return and actually getting a little bit windy. It looks like on saturday night robin. All right, thank you days, a big story that were following for you this morning, San Francisco has joined the long list of bay area cities, closing down beach parking lots during the 4th of july Holiday Weekend. Kron fours reyna harvey is live in San Francisco with an update this morning, robin good morning. Well you see behind me theyve already shut down the great highway here this is that ocean beach and thats for people to be able to get some exercise and i want to show you what they plan on closing down and thats actually the parking lot behind me you can see cars in that parking lot there, but they wont be able to park their starting the 4th of july weekend. Theyre going to close at all together. They also closed down some other parking lots other different beaches across San Francisco. So take a look at your screen. Well starting here at ocean beach. Theyre gonna close the parking lots here along with baker beach china beach crissy field, fort funston 4 point Golden Gate Bridge lands in marina green. Those are some of the beaches theyre going to be closing the parking lots and this is all because theyve seen an uptick in coronavirus cases not only of the cases gone of it. Hospitalization rates have also increased throughout the city so theyre trying to take steps to reduce the number of traffic. Well people coming out here and talk to a gentleman earlier who comes out here in the morning, he gets his exercise in on the beach and he said that he understands why theyre doing this, but the beach is so large and so big that he thinks that you know people are able to social distance out here, but he can understand why theyre trying to close down these parking lots to keep people safe. We heard from mayor london breed years she had to say about staying indoors over the holiday. Please for all of us make smart decisions avoid crowds dont gather with people outside your household, keep your distance from one another wear a mask. All right all great pieces advice theyre Wearing Masks keeping that space between you and the person next to you so if you come down any of these beaches including ocean beach here parking lot that one thats open right now thats going to be closed and theyre saying that they plan to keep these closed at least through the Holiday Weekend but for now reporting in San Francisco reyna harvey kron 4 news all right as much as we love the beach we do understand thank you reena. Well, Half Moon Bay is also closing its beaches through sunday, the closures come after Governor Newsom ordered parking lots of all state beaches. Too close for the Holiday Weekend, Half Moon Bays mayors actively discouraging visitors to the city. He announced a stretch of the popular coastal trail between seymour bridge and kelly avenue its going to be shut down for the next 3 days. All right here in the bay area there are over 29,000 cases and over 590 deaths were seeing the most cases in Alameda County with 5700 and sections. But the virus has been deadlier in Santa Clara County which has 100 and 56 deaths we have a full breakdown of cases by county by city online on our website kron 4 dot com. And as more restrictions are put in place throughout most of california Governor Newsome says that he has established a strike team to enforce the states covid19 rules that includes a number of workplace and business 8 licensing agencies like cal osha, alcohol Beverage Control and the chp but there are still questions about how the rules will actually be enforced. This comes after permits were approved for a 300 person protest to weddings and a 50 person demonstration all scheduled for the 4th of july. To how you address what some might perceive a mixed messaging here. Yeah i dont have the benefit of the details of the permits cp is evaluating those permits now to see about how that can be done. Taken into account, the the governors orders and directives that we want for appropriate social distancing and limiting. To come together while still protecting peoples. Rights some before for peaceful protest. So for now the state is primarily targeting businesses that are out of compliance with guidelines that include the face mask mandate. Now to the south bay this morning more than 45 School Principals and administrators are in self quarantine because of potential coronavirus exposure. Now this comes following a meeting last week where one School District employee tested positive for coronavirus and then a few days after attending the meeting as a result, the other principals and administrators at that meeting were told to shelter in place and get tested. Luckily, so far no one else has tested positive. The district says the complexity of developing this plan for reopening schools in the fall is why they chose to hold the meeting in person rather than online. I know there may be some there some the question. Every decision we make. But the reality is there is no road map for this pandemic. Now although the School District says it followed all the Health Department guidelines of Santa Clara County Health Department says in part quote the health order currently in place allows local governments to conduct essential business in person and to decide for themselves, what is essential in this case, its not clear why meeting in person was necessary. Its a lesson for other Government Agencies even though they have the authority to hold an in person meeting it does not mean they should exercise the right to do so in crime. The coronavirus has flipped this year upside down and now experts say the pandemic will likely have a Lasting Impact on the countrys labor market for the next decade, a 10 year forecast by the Congressional Budget Office reports of 4. 4 Unemployment Rate at the end of 2030 which is higher than pre pandemic levels of 3. 5 . In february this year. Just tell real executive director of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute says those projections could change and are highly dependent on public response policy response and the trajectory of the virus. I do think though that when you look back at previous recessions, there is something that you can learn particularly the last recession. Roughly at the same unemployment thats they were back in the Great Recession and in some parts of the country that actually never recovered country overall it to take about a decade to kind of get back to those Employment Level so its not out of the realm of possibility. Well there are a lot of unknowns and uncertainties that could change those projections the bay area has typically come out of recessions were quickly than the rest of the country because of its tech and innovation industries, but that trend could reverse because a lot of those companies are giving employees permanent options to work remotely from home. And still ahead this morning air bnb will be enforcing new restrictions on younger guests looking to book local homes will take a look at those changes coming up after the break. And well take a look outside right now cloudy skies over parts of the bay area, including the waterfront here in San Francisco as we see in this market arrow shot, good morning welcome back happening now the hayward Police Department asking for the publics help in finding a missing child. Shes 12 yearold korean ross yates and was last seen wednesday afternoon around 5 oclock near main street. Korean is 5 foot 3 with black hair and brown eyes Officials Say they are concerned that she may try to harm herself. If you seen her youre asked to please contact the hayward Police Department the numbers on your screen. Also in the east bay, a man in a stolen cars still on the loose this morning after allegedly driving toward a chp officer and injuring him. It all happened thursday morning in hayward near tarmon avenue and jackson street officers were stopped at a traffic light when someone reported a man sleeping behind the wheel of a silver toyota. They checked the license plate and found that the car was stolen. Officers approached they play spike strips in front of the tires of the car then woke up the driver, but they said that he drove the officer got caught on the spikes one officer fired a shot at the car, but the man got away. Well to the east bay now get ready to pay more money bart will be raising those parking fees at 6 of its stations. And youre going to have to pay yeah so this is for mostly the oakland stations, it starts monday. The parking will cost you 3. 55 at the coliseum station lake merritt macarthur end, the rock ridge stations and then if you park in west oakland that parking lot you have to pay 12. 40 this comes as the city of oakland imposes an 18 and a half percent tax on all parking sees citywide. And in the south bay, 86 morgan hill has got us at 8380 san jose and also milpitas checking in east bay shoreline to the south still a 70 story tri valley lower 80s dublin that 7982 walnut creek 84 for concord and along the east bay shoreline Still Holding on to 70 or 60s rather 72, though san leandro up to the north bay 77 for napa 75 going on for a delay ho 82 sonoma, 77 meanwhile benicia and for santa rose at 83 with 80 ish heading down south along one oh one the beaches in the 60s in the sevenday yes we warm up nicely for tomorrow, 91 is kind of an estimation but will probably see some higher temperatures to be found in the far east bay, theres a back office saturday night by the way well get some winds to look out for so watch out theyll be on shore but still winds are winds and we get into the 80s for a lot of those inland valleys and stay in the 80s and next week, but the bay area traffic robin was happening. Well the traffics been moving well around the bay area this morning because its friday its a Holiday Weekend. Some folks are just off their out of town there at home relaxing theyre not on the roads as we can see here at the bay bridge toll plaza not much traffic into San Francisco which is great for you if you do have to drive wide open across the upper deck off to the richmond sandra fell bridge. But air bnb still hasnt defined what they consider to be close. The company says those gas can still book entire rooms or entire homes rather elsewhere. Air bnb began stepping up efforts to ban party houses last november after 5 people were shot and killed during an Unauthorized Party at an air bnb rental in orinda.
