Plus American Airlines is ditching social distancing. Im noelle bellow coming up here from a travel analyst oh, we love our new home. Neighborhoods great. Amazing school district. Com american is saying why should be at more flights and add more expense to go along with it. I will just fill the plains, a 100 full. American raising some eyebrows, the airline announced it will no longer be blocking middle seats on its aircraft it had been doing that since april but all thats going to change on july first and that decision is alarming to those who are worried about the recent spike in covid19 cases across the nation kron fours noelle bellow joins us live from our newsroom with more from a travel analyst about all this noel. And thats right ken and pam ditching social distancing American Airlines says since april theyve been working to increase cleanings and implement new Safety Measures for passengers. Now that they have those in place theyre ready to let flights get back up to 100 capacity. I spoke with a travel industry analyst who says hes disappointed in the move but not surprised. Im concerned that American Airlines has made a very poor decision here. Just ahead of the 4th of july weekend American Airlines alerts passengers they will no longer be blocking middle seats in the name of social distancing. The move puts them in line with united and Spirit Airlines allowing flights to be booked to Capacity Starting july first American Airlines has a lot of debt theyve seen their revenues fall like all other airlines so im not surprised that they are. Trying to sell as many seats during the peak Summer Season as they can. But its a disappointing decision nonetheless since april american has been capping the number of passengers on each flight. Their average load for the month of june was about 63 . When asked why they chose to make the change now americans said quote we expect a busy weekend around the 4th of july holiday. The load factor cap was instituted before we had implemented multiple layers of protection for customers which includes clean airports and planes healthy team members and requirements for customers and those who service them to wear Face Coverings with all of these layers of protection, we are comfortable removing the load factor cap and quote travel industry analyst Henry Harteveldt says the timing of this move could end up hurting the airline in the long run American Airlines is clearly showing that they value profits over people if passengers are concerned about flying as they are now. And if we have to fear interest issues about traveling as we do now, Airlines Need to respect that and trying to make us feel confident about traveling American Airlines is not doing that other airlines are. Those other airlines hes referring to our southwest delta and jetblue as they are all still blocking middle seats or restricting the number of seats for sale on each flight. American is offering flexibility for passengers alerting them if their flight is reaching capacity and giving them the option to change it. Ken and pam i should note american is taking the mask mandate seriously. They will ban passengers if they refuse to wear a Face Covering back to you know ill thank nurses in Southern California are on strike for a second day now the Health Care Workers at Riverside Community hospital. And less for car and some see an opportunity to permanently transform the way people get around but is it realistic Nic Robertson takes us to london to find out. City is everywhere changing. And getting breathing space quite literally here in london more space for cyclists. And for pedestrians less because a new world made for social distancing. Its a winwin situation to win 4, 4, 4, 4, the pedestrian is that women part to win is a win for the drivers. So lets see what happens. David 19 is causing cities across the globe to adopt in similar ways from paris to bogota from new york to buenos aires. But will the transformation last forever. Here in london if we have a pope to republic be 8 million geneva need to be made by the most if a fraction of those end up on all in and cars on our roads were going to end up with gridlock which is exactly why we need to enable people to take this cleaner greener more sustainable journeys now and i hope that as they get used to it thats behavior that sticks. When there are no calls a few cars on the road and people feel comfortable theyll cyclin in huge numbers so 100,000 people across the country that experiences cycling or a prison environment and we need to kind of make sure that that so changing behaviors locked in as he talks a lady called our attention. She has bought last month has been sheltering in place. Windows shot until the traffic blocked. Its not there. Pollution. You can i can i can win there right now that seems to be an acceptance that change is necessary in a variety of different ways weve accepted it for this emergency. We still seem a little nervous broadly speaking to accept as a clown the agencies will but the fact that it can be different is something we always see. What to do is going to be a decision coming to all of us soon enough. Ultimately governments want us back at work and soon. But as long as public transport remains problematic. Then we have to change our trouble have it. London like so many other cities across the world is not a potential turning point. For me, its just a different outcome. Its kind of hard to tell him he lors is standing by not only fog though we have to look out for some windy weather. The i think very windy around the bay area guys, especially parts of the east bay over some the mountaintops along the coastline, those winds really are going to with outside we felt that today we have some blustery winds in spots but certainly weve got some more when that will be picking up as we head throughout the day tomorrow, the clouds moving over San Francisco right now but she kind of a class a high cloud at least over 1000 feet theres a sales force building so you know its up over a 1000 feet but were going to see more of those clouds overnight tonight, then its just kind of dissipate. As were going to see more of a northerly winds start to kick in. Temperatures today, running below the average in the San Francisco 6172 degrees for a high slightly above the average in oakland 86 degrees and warm in san jose, no 90s today, 89 though we were close in livermore 84 degrees in concord as we cool down just a bit and 72 degrees in santa rosa. All right, heres a cold front sliding in the state non doesnt look like much was enough to bring us any rain but certainly enough to bring the cooler air well on shore blustery winds begin to pick up today, then its going to be enough to probably mix out some low clouds and the fog so i think as we head into the afternoon tomorrow, mostly sunny skies, but the winds will be whipping and weve seen some pretty gusty winds already over 30 Miles Per Hour in fairfield n continuing to blow out there tonight all around the bay area, not just along the coastline and over the mountains but everybody is feeling pretty good breeze out there right now so well see more of that on the way for tomorrow in the San Francisco, some sunshine and some when oakland youre looking at sunny breezy conditions maybe about 70 degrees and 75 and mostly sunny. As you make your way to san jose. High pressure going to be building in behind that cold front thats when we start to develop that northerly component to the wind and so its going without their in spots along the coastline, a bit on the breezy side 64 degrees in the San Francisco 63 in daly city 59 degrees the winds kicking up in half moon bay, 63. In burlingame right through the mountain gaps there in south San Francisco in san bruno youre going to feel the effects of that win by tomorrow afternoon. 69 apollo out to 72 in mount the about 74 degrees in campbell is 75 degrees in san jose east bay, no 80s and thats got to watch out of the Altamont Pass specially late tonight and into tomorrow night were looking at some very gusty winds maybe 40 maybe 50 Miles Per Hour over the Altamont Pass and all those with continuing right through the delta is well and you have to watch out there. Its la county red flag warnings being posted in the northern part of that county temperatures going to be the 60s right along the immediate coastline but here we go as we head tore july were going to see temperatures begin to warm up a little bit on monday. The winds will start to calm down somewhat getting a little hot inland on tuesday was a patchy far we turn to the coastline. But the following weekend is the 4th of july and it looks like we could see some very gusty winds which is not good news for the for the xlite know it is not thank you for that morning lawrence, a 102 yearold woman in New Hampshire is quite the survivor.
