The citys director of Health Doctor grant colfax says that while hes grateful, San Francisco has been recognized for slowing the spread of the virus. We need to remember that covid19 is still here and we will be with us for the foreseeable future. While the city works to reopen hair salons and other businesses doctor colfax says that we need to keep testing and keep Contact Tracing to keep the case numbers low. Well happening today despite having reported a significant jump in covid19 cases, Santa Cruz County beaches are back open to the public. All right robin will here in california we are seeing a surge in hospitalizations and icu admissions for covid patients. Governor newsoms update on the situation thursday finds that intensive care units are now about a 3rd of capacity. He added that california has seen a 19 increase in icu patients over the past 2 weeks. But the governor says there are no plans to pause the reopening in california. He says overall the Health Care Delivery system is at 8 of capacity while the state is now testing nearly 100,000 people every day. We want to power local leadership to make informed decisions but we also want that information to be made public the message should be very clear anyone coming into the state of california. It is subject to the mask mandate. And the guidelines that we have put forth but at this moment, were shutting down our border. To other states. Now while the numbers show the california is not experiencing the serious increase like neighboring Arizona Governor newsom says for now hes not requiring 14 day quarantines from arizona or any other state. The governor is urging californians to remain cautious and careful during this stage of covid19. Well happening today in just about 90 minutes, the White House Coronavirus Task Force Led by Vice President mike pence well be holding its first Public Meeting in nearly 2 months. This comes one day after the u. S. Saw the most new reported cases within a 24 hour period and also comes as President Trump appears to push for less testing. Now earlier this week doctor Anthony Fauci told lawmakers that he has not spoken to the president and about 2 and a half weeks. Its a new chapter in the war of words between President Trump and oakland mayor libby shaft the mayor firing back at the president after he criticized the city of oakland during an interview last night kron fours reyna harvey has been checking out the twitter feeds of both politicians and has the latest for us reyna. And marty quiet right now, but let me tell you oakland got a shout out from the president last night and it was not what you expect it to be very critical about oakland. A couple other major cities in this country we actually have a clip. We can play for you take a listen. Take a look at detroit take a look at whats happening in oakland. Take a look at whats happening in baltimore, and it really gets upset when i say and they say oh is that a racist statement is not a racist. Frankly. People come up to me say thank you thank you sir for saying it. The citys its like living in hel. In that statement rub their shaft the wrong way she took to twitter to say a hells another 4 years of this race is in the white house in quote hashtag vote hashtag lech shuns matter now the Trump Administration of mayor shall have a history. The vocal on their disagreements. Most recently on immigration you might remember back when former attorney general Jeff Sessions accused mayor schaaf of not prioritizing the safety of oakland when she warned the community about immigration and Customs Enforcement operations that she had learned about which the Trump Administration says stifled their operation again marty like a mention of in check and both of their twitter feed this morning, the president in response to the mayor of oakland statement, but again still fairly early by 8 oclock a 10 oclock on the east coast, the air. So again well be monitoring twitter and well bring you more as soon as we learn of more for now reporting her oakland raider harvey kron 4 news all right rain will be waiting for an update, thanks a lot for that report from oakland robin. All right saying in the east bay people in crockett are shocked after a black lives matter sign was defaced the black lives matter sign on come owner street was found or if so it reads lives matter instead. The sign went up weeks after George Floyds death and this is not the first incident where its been defaced crockett resident, joanne suh boy says it happened 3 times. This statement that the person who is repeatedly defacing the sign has made is not only do we not support the black lives matter community, but you are not welcome here weve been engaging as much discourse is possible. But you know in a strange way the debasement of the sign has really prompted a lot more people who probably wouldnt speak up. Im to come out and voice their opinions and to share you know opposing believes so its been constructive as well. Well theres been numerous protests in downtown crocketts supporting the black lives matter movement. Some residents hope that this will spark an open and peaceful dialogue. Well a mobile Crisis Response program will soon be on the streets of oakland. Its modeled after a Similar Program in eugene oregon. Thats where a mobile Crisis Response team operates 24 hours a day every day. A team is made up of 2 people a medic or emt and one person who has experience and Behavioral Health counseling. Now they are not Police Officers they are not trained in policing and they do not carry weapons and over the past year, the city of oaklands Police Commission has been laying the foundation for oaklands version of that program called macro. I am concerned that we do have to continue to respond to those 911 calls and a scathing grand jury report just came out saying that oakland is not doing a good enough job. Well oakland city officials anticipate beginning the program as soon as this fall. Still ahead this morning, one east Bay School District has made the tough decision to not have students or teachers on campus come this fall, well have details coming up. Behind the wheel driving test the dmv have resumed after months of being postponed. Coming up after the break well tell you when we closed our doors in march, wynn committed instantly to keeping all 15,000 team members onboard. We then focused our fivestar level of service to all who needed it. We made improvements to peoples lives. We strove to be better and we made people happy. This closure may have temporarily taken us out of wynn and encore, but it couldnt take the wynn and encore out of us. And now, we are proud to welcome you back. Well happening today despite having reported a significant jump in covid19 cases, Santa Cruz County beaches will be reopening to the public want to go live now to kron fours will tran who has everything you need when you head to the beach that is the hat the shades of sunscreen and the mask, i will. I tell you what marty this will be one heck of a tan line, but thats the price you pay right, this is 2020 nothing is normal not even laws because. Now you can legally head to the beaches and the key word is legally because its technically shutdown up until midnight. 7 oh what a little more than 8 hours ago. But so many people ignored it that the county said forget about it were fighting a losing battle says that the santa cruz. Down here this morning in fact weve got video of it. This is them at 6. 15 in the morning. Coming down here removing the signs that told people that they could not be at the beaches between 11 oclock in the morning and 5 oclock in the afternoon because they want to slow down the spread of coronavirus Police Officers during that 2 months shutdown theyre walking the beaches trying to tell people they couldnt be here reminding them that they could face up to a 1000 fine the people just like that them went about the business stayed on the beach that the Police Officers and other authorities in santa cruz they were just overwhelmed by that. So thats why they decided on thursday marty just go ahead and shut it down as far as the signs get the signs out of here reopen the beaches. Santa cruz county now officially is the last santa kind last county in california Beach Community that is allowing people to head to the beaches. So now they join like everybody else and whether you are for it or against it the numbers dont lie so i guess you have to give them a little bit of credit because as far as coronavirus cases marty they are significantly lower than other counties in california and in the bay area. 337 cases since this started about a 106 active cases and 3 tragic deaths, but 3 deaths are significantly lower. In other counties throughout california. So now a lot of people are saying marty well just have to wait and see how the numbers whether they stay the same or jump because we do expect a lot of people to jump back in the water jump on the beaches, especially with the warm weather so they will be monitoring the numbers moving forward back to you. And well after spending some hours at the beach you can now wear that mask tan line with a source of pride. You know you could say lifes a beach, although it would be funny to smile of his and yet his line it comes down here you have a great and marty i i just have a horrible dancer to be all block city. Weve got lots of cloud cover in this fog kind of deal with this morning were looking at a cooling weekend and early into next week dont worry though the night as we get back into next week. Thats of course inland live shot coming in from the golden gate bridge, the towers are completely obscured from this. We expect this to clear out the next couple of hours. Temperatures thus far lower 60s line up the east bay shoreline inland we get to around 71 or so up to the north bay and mixture of 50s 60s 62, meanwhile, san jose and the peninsula has some 60s in the southern end. But 58, San Francisco, future cast for doesnt really show much big see the footprints of a little system dropping south is going to help cool us off. For sunday. Thats when youre looking at those big drop in those temperatures. Here you again the marine layer coming back again for tonight that is to greet us tomorrow morning. Then later on. Saturday night here comes the civil system dropping south and behind it so cooler air and were going to feel that on sundays public could be the coolest and the bunch that were going to see in the sevenday forecast future cast winds. Well have that were to the fog return tomorrow morning yet again across the bay and because of the mild winds. We have this morning were not getting a good mixing job yet as the shot in the bay bridge toll plaza and still the sun coming up over the east bay hills it is we just cant see it from this Vantage Point so that heat spike we talked about last call just about over here Solano County until saturday at a just a formality. Then for today were talking morning clouds he but then clearing. Mild to warm with 70s and 80s mixture on balance we have a couple of 90s out there but mostly 70s and 80s this weekend cooling quickly inland highs falling below 80 on sunday that will be the coldest day and then a quote recovery into next week are warming up if you will 68 San Francisco 74 for oakland, 87 san jose and yes well get into the blue skies later today. Highs we do see some 90s in the far east bay for today again probably the last day were going to see that elsewhere its pretty much a tease on the board and we still have the greens holding on to the peninsula, but a couple warm pockets down there in the southern it will have all this later on.
