Yes, well see some 90s today probably the last day will see 90s until early next week after today. And a little micro cool down coming this weekend well be talking about it coming up marty back to you. All right, thanks a lot, lets get to our top story this morning of the u. S. And despite those numbers, San Francisco has the green light to go ahead and open where businesses barber shops nail salons and tattoo shops will be reopening on monday the state granted the citys request for a variance from the states resilience road map. The citys director of Health Doctor grant colfax says while hes grateful San Francisco has been recognized for slowing the spread of the virus. We need to remember that covid19 is very much still here and will be with us for the foreseeable future. While the city works to reopen hair salons and other businesses doctor colfax says that we need to keep testing and Contact Tracing to keep the case numbers low. Here in california were seeing a surge in hospitalizations and icu admission admissions for covid patients. Governor newsoms update on the situation thursday finds that the intensive care unit beds are now at about a 3rd of capacity in california. He added that the state has seen a 19 increase in icu patients in just the past 2 weeks. But the governor says there are currently no plans to pause reopening. He says the Overall Health care Delivery System is at 8 capacity, while the state is now testing nearly 100,000 people a day. We want to power local leadership to make informed decisions but we also want that information to be made public the message should be very clear anyone coming in the state of california. It is subject to the mask mandate. And the guidelines that we have put forth but at this moment, were shutting down our border to other states. Well the numbers show california is not experiencing the serious spike such as a neighbor in arizona, the governor says for now hes not going to require 14 day quarantines from that or any state but the governor is urging californians to remain cautious and careful during this stage of covid19. Now to the south bay this morning, this more businesses struggle to stay afloat in the pandemic Business Owners and Community Leaders in downtown san jose are working to help out. They were organized a coalition called the greater downtown san jose Economic Recovery Task force which was promoted by Council Member rob for all is said just last month. This week, the task force submitted a list of 9 recommendations for the city which include extending free parking downtown a new Marketing Campaign for store fronts as well. If i only focus on my own could be moved the entire Community Forward or the entire affected. No district or region so being able to help build Consumer Confidence that we are operating safely and were hearing to guidelines so that they can come in and and support the businesses they love. Of course being in the Bar Restaurant industry. I wanted to push for less taxes less fees we were able. To get this in the mayors budget memo 2 weeks ago so theres actually a 100,000 that has already been appropriated to help make some of the recommendations happened. The city is already moving forward to reduce or draw parking fees downtown and well hear the rest of the recommendations next week. Well happening today in just a few hours. The White House Coronavirus Task Force Led by Vice President mike pence will be holding its first Public Meeting in nearly 2 months. Its comes one day after the u. S. Saw the most new reported cases within a 24 hour period. It also comes as President Trump appears to push for it less testing earlier this week doctor Anthony Fauci told lawmakers that he has not spoken to the president and about 2 and a half weeks. The white house has not said if doctors found she and deborah birx will be at todays for a series of metro area. Well the department of justice is asking the Supreme Court to strike down the Affordable Care act also known as obamacare the deal jay made the filing late last night at the center of the issue is whether the individual mandate is unconstitutional because congress eliminated the penalty for being uninsured and if it is unconstitutional shouldnt bring down the entire law. The justices will hear the arguments in the case sometime next term. But its unclear if that will take place before the november election. Now lets get to a developing story were following this friday morning oakland mayor libby shaft is firing back at President Trump after the president criticized the city of oakland during an interview last month or last night rather kron fours reyna harvey live in oakland this morning. She has all the details on this latest dustup reyna. Marty the president in that interview like you mentioned very critical of oakland and he also named dropped a few other cities like chicago and detroit. Well basically he equated living in oakland has to live in inhale. So the mayor not taking too kindly to the president s statements, shes firing back on twitter well show you that tweet from mayor libby shaft she said hale is another 4 years of this race is in the white house in quote hashtag vote hashtag elections matter. Now the president during that same interview said his statements came under question as to whether or not they were racist. Well the president says theyre not in fact black people thank him for making these statements. Now the Trump Administration and mayor shaft have a history of being vocal around their disagreements, especially when it comes to topics of immigration you might remember back when former attorney general Jeff Sessions accused mayor schaff of not prioritizing the safety of oakland when she was a vocal warning the community about immigration and Customs Enforcement operations that she had learned about which the Trump Administration says stifled their operations. Now again as of this morning, the president has not responded to mayor schaaf statements but again its still really early. Its 5 oclock that might change as the day continues again were going to be monitoring and any other platforms for a response for now reporting here in oakland raider harvey kron 4 news all right rain. Uh yeah well be looking for some updates thanks a lot for that live report from oakland robin. Well staying in the east bay now people in crockett or shock after a black lives matter sign was defaced the black lives matter sign on kimono street was found so it reads lives matter instead. The sign went up weeks ago after George Floyds death and this is not the first incident words been defaced crockett president joanne suh boy says that its happened 3 times. This statement that the person who is repeatedly defacing the sign has made is not only do we not support the black lives matter community, but you are not welcome here weve been engaging as much discourse is possible. But you know in a strange way the debasement of the sign has really prompted a lot more people who probably wouldnt speak up to come out and voice their opinions and to share you know opposing believes so its been constructive as well. Theres been numerous protests in downtown crocketts supporting the black lives matter movement. Some residents hope that this will spark an open and peaceful dialogue. A mobile Crisis Response program will soon be on the streets of oakland, its modeled after a Similar Program in eugene oregon. Thats where a mobile Crisis Response team operates 24 hours a day every day. So a team is made up of 2 people theres a medic are in t and then one person who has experience in Behavioral Health counseling. They are not Police Officers they are not trained in policing and they do not carry weapons and over the past year, the city of oaklands Police Commission has been laying the foundation for oaklands version of that program called macro. I am concerned that we do have to continue to respond to those 911 calls and a scathing grand jury report just came out saying that oakland is not doing a good enough job. Oakland city officials anticipate beginning the program as soon as this fall. And were just Getting Started this morning still ahead, a 3rd person has died from covid19 in Santa Cruz County find out where Health Officials say he may have been infected. Travel down a Company Called arrival is they predict that more than 36 million americans will hit the road for the july 4th Holiday Weekend and thats about 11 less than last years predictions. Now aaa says americans will take 700 million trips this summer thats 120 million fewer than last year. The decline is mostly because of reduced air bus rail and Cruise Travel the coronavirus pandemic is also expected to slow down travel the entire summer. Well i really like to go summer morning. We have so many nice places here in the bay area i feel like i can just stay home and have a good time dealing with the same issue you can go and and when you get there whats right. Well, lets find out about the Weather Forecast as we head into the weekend dave spahr joins us with the idea with area over morning where live shot coming in from u c berkeley were seeing some light showing up unfortunately still cant seal very much here the shrubbery in the foreground. Pretty much fog out if you will see and also the east bay shoreline would all be lit up at this hour also to covered in all of this fog and looks like the Golden Gate Bridge is going from glazing us to fogging out as well so there the headlights are on even though we are getting some sun peering through like tearing through 63 at this hour now for antioch 59 conquered 58 for livermore and some upper 50s lining up the east bay shoreline 61 for open if hes up in the north bay 55 for San Francisco. We do see a little bit of uptick with winds which they actually see right now but during the early part of the day they go away, but you see them picking up around Solano County which will probably be the hottest pocket and parts of Contra Costa County 2 in those winds wrap wrapping around the valleys on the eastern side of the east bay hills that will be around for quite a while during the overnight to greet us into tomorrow morning in because theyre on shore they invite in the marine layer again so i have that fog spilling on hand to greet us tomorrow morning. Heat spike its last call going on for Solano County that will be with us until saturday at 8 bay bridge toll plaza shot there you can see the gray behind us. Morning fog clearing out. Mild to warm with 70s and 80s basically the rule thats pretty much the covers most of the geography theyll be a couple of 90s out there a little cooler along the coast certainly then for this weekend, everybody is cooling down. And looks like some of these spots thats all 90s this week are going to see a struggle to reach 80 that will be on sunday now to look out for for today, were lining up a 68 San Francisco opened 7487 meanwhile for san jose. However, we still have 90s on the board for today you can see for antioch livermore concord still make it up to about 9080s pretty much inland elsewhere will take a closer look at all that in the 4 zone forecast coming up a little bit later on well check in bay area bridges and the fog out where it is robin tell us and im looking at those temperatures on like who needs a road trip when you have weather like that right here at home right. Alright look at the bay bridge cellphones of the drive into San Francisco looking good moving well. It is friday and normally you get a little bit of a break on friday is that does not mean theres not going to be any traffic it just gets a later start or thins out sooner and we just dont have as much so fingers crossed that will happen the no problems into San Francisco. All right lets check in on 92. Its definitely our busiest bridge. It started stocking up in the 4 oclock hour you see all the brake lights. Those folks are making usual morning drive to the peninsula. So the traffic is only heavy on the hayward side at the flat section. But once you get over to the peninsula its going to be nice smooth and quiet with no problems into foster city or send the tail party. All right robin speaking of driving to today the california dmv is going to resume the behind the wheel test with of course some safety modifications added those tests have been suspended since midmarch because of the pandemic kron 4 Sarah Stinson is not live at the dmv in daly city she has more hi sarah. And there marty thats right. I mean can you imagine waiting anxiously for your test then all of the have it just postponed. Are canceled rather so people are probably very excited to hear that they can come back to the dmv and take that behind the wheel test and its usually pretty. Anxiety ridden, but its going to look a little different, you know the usual coronavirus precautions wearing a mask and making sure theres some distance there. But theyve actually already started rescheduling some of those canceled driving tests appointments thats with the dmv says it will take several weeks to make up for all the canceled test though as you know those are some like the test so its going to take some time so much so that the new points for the behind the wheel test lot be available until all the cancel tests are complete according to the dmv all drive test and applicants will be required to wear Face Covering and answer Health Screening questions before the test even begins temperature checks will be added to the safety protocols statewide Officials Say due to the coronavirus concerns to windows will be lower throughout the test to increase the inhalation and examiners will spend more time outside the car, especially when theyre providing those pre test instructions. The dmv is also shortening the testing root in many locations but dont worry it will still be long enough to determine the driver skill and knowledge of safety know to catch up with those blue backlog to test some locations will be extending their hours on saturdays recently the dmv open 169 field. Locations and only with some of the limited services they really prefer you continue to use their new portal for any services that you may need unless you absolutely need to come to the dmv but well be live here this morning to show some of the people coming out here will be interesting marty to see if theres you know a teen whos been wanting to get their license lives last 3 months had to stay home and couldnt get their driving test, you know send it back to the studio. Sir i remember i remember way back when when i turned 16, i was at the dmv that morning right at the beginning waiting to get my license, im sure its going to be happening now right. Sure well from the beginning you know it was a riot and it was a protest but on the First Anniversary when we had the first pride events here in San Francisco. It was actually called christopher street wet road west which was the name of the street that stonewall was on in manhattan. And we had a on march down a polk street which used to be very neighborhood in San Francisco. And also an in Golden Gate Park which is called a in. And was kind of a play on the b and you know that they used to have in the 60s. And you know they were hippies and they were ferries and there were a lot of you trans like at stonewall you know this this event has been extremely diverse from the beginning on and has really just celebrated or fight for our rights and it has become more of a celebration of to achievement that we have made in our progress towards full equality. The key word is technically because so many people were still. Going on to the beaches despite the shelter in place and Police Officers walking on the beach reminding them. They could not be on the beach and finally robin they were just simply overwhelmed by the amount of people who just ignore the guidelines the shelter in place and just hung out on the beaches that even county officials said why are we trying to put our finger in this dam when it keeps breaking in more leaks are happening. So they decided to reopen this morning in a Perfect World they were hoping to reopen it after the 4th of july weekend, but they knew that it was just a lost cause. So you can still come down here and by the way the boardwalk some of the rides are not available. But it is partially open if you want to bring your family to santa cruz, this weekend to enjoy the sun.
