Illegal fireworks are keeping residents awake all over the bay area kron fours taylor sackey joins us now live from Alameda County where neighbors say the loud explosions carry on for hours into the Early Morning and taylor they say the number of complaints just keeps growing in fact this is happening around the country right now. Yeah thats right pam and you know i definitely have a better understanding of what these neighbors are talking about just being here within the last hour. I counted at least 10 of those loud booms of course from those fireworks and while we typically see and hear more fireworks during the week of july 4th of course these neighbors say this is nothing new theyve been hearing and seeing them more often within the last several weeks and while this can be fun and games for some people others say that there are real health and safety concerns on top of the fireworks already being a legal. This is a new nightly seen across many bay area cities in Alameda County, the use of illegal fireworks started several weeks ago and has gradually gotten worse as we approach july force every night its not just weekends is every night is loud booming. Constantly i know theres been on other neighbors who have found act cakes like giant firework cakes in the middle of the street Marvin Wilson lives in alameda with his dog kallie every time she hears one of the big booms. Tries to run for cover around underneath the bed. The loud booms also travel to the east Oakland Hills Kathleen Curtis says the fireworks concern many of her neighbors in the sequoia heights neighborhood or concerns or around noise and nuisance. But more specifically around fire danger. Because we are in the hills, its a heavily wooded area. Many of calling complaints about the can no longer get through to the fireworks tip line for the Oakland Police and Fire Department meanwhile, the Alameda County Sheriffs Office says. Theyre also receiving more complaints than usual from june first to today. And weve taken almost 400 fireworks complaint calls in the unincorporated communities of Alameda Countys accounts for only. Parts of san leandro hayward. Outward of pleasanton and livermore well the Sheriffs Office says nows the time they typically make large seizures of illegal fireworks. They say this year has been challenging Law Enforcements attention. This year was was not focused on fireworks and prevention as were doing a lot of the issues going on in our communities around Law Enforcement so we believe that that was a Good Opportunity for people who like to bring in fireworks into the state moving forward. The Sheriffs Office says they will be putting more resources into stopping the exchange of heavy duty explosives the next couple weeks well be telling as we begin to. A move more into proactive enforcement. You know were also seeing a lot more of the other Law Enforcement agencies in the bay area address this issue just on social media and twitter you places like San Francisco Police Department have also put out warnings to people to not be setting off these illegal fireworks and not only are they legal, but the Sheriffs Office of course says that they can be deadly if theyre used improperly. Its also important to be aware of your neighbors because these fireworks affect many veterans animals and livestock for now were live in alameda tiller sackey kron 4 news sailors. Thank you in san jose, theres now a campaign called fed up with fireworks. Encourages residents to report illegal fireworks happening in their neighborhood. Jeff levine shot some video of illegal fireworks outside his house, he says the citys effort, its neighbors against neighbors. So i have to expose myself as a private citizen too to the threat of violence or retaliation. That means says illegal fireworks started in his neighborhood like late last month and it has steadily been getting worse and is not just here in the bay area new York City Police say the department received more than 13,000 calls for illegal fireworks thats more than. 10 times the number from the same period last year. And we are taking a live look outside tonight here in the bay area looking out at the Golden Gate Bridge you can see that fog over their laws means its cooling things down beautiful fog rolling in right now very thick in spots. So certainly want to be extra careful if youre traveling later on this evening as well see that fog bank rolling in you see the San Francisco right now the cloud that shooting across the bay. Looks like is going to fill in some of the valleys for tonight, so certainly out there little cloudy little gray and maybe a little damp too as we could see a little bit of drizzle with the full clouds theyre pretty thick out there tonight and probably into tomorrow morning. These impressive this that time of year we get that huge range of temperatures you get the coastal sections. You have those nice cool ocean waters in the 50s that keeps the temperatures way down but you get to the valleys not far away 2030 Miles Per Hour miles there you go 95 degrees for a high in little more today over 30 degrees cooler 64 in San Francisco, 74 local for a high 86 in san jose a hot 93 in concord and 81 degrees in santa rosa. Boy what an interesting day over the Sierra Nevada has numerous thunderstorms really firing up you may have seen some of those cloud tops you can see them all the way from the bay area and blowing up into the afternoon faust are to subside as the sun has gone down chance we could see some more of those as we head toward tomorrow afternoon the moving back into the bay area and there it is rolling on in going to see more of that with the sea breeze which has been picking up into the afternoon to 26 miles an hour right now in fairfield 13 in oakland 15 at sfo and 12 in mill valley so enough to bring the fog low clouds on shore but it is not going to be cool for everyone in fact staying hot and theres an excessive heat advisory still you may come when islamic county has some very hot temperatures just not given up highs running in the 90s in many spots, especially in the eastern half year in the central valley, youre seeing those temperatures in the triple digits, so hot temperatures expected through at least saturday there before cooling down on sunday. Outside right now weve got 65 degrees in livermore and mostly clear skies still 71 and warm and pittsburgh 73 insanely now 50s into San Francisco in tehran. Theres the gray clouds that are now beginning to move back on shore filling into the bay and some of the valleys overnight tonight tomorrow going to become mostly sunny after some patchy fog and again were going to see a breeze developing in the afternoon. Then the week ahead really mostly sunny skies. I think its going to get a little hot specially on friday. I think thats what we may just see an offshore wind. The media but warm things up all the way the coastline. High pressure going to slowly build in the next couple days that is going to build to the north here well start to see a little bit of an offshore wind a northerly component that when that is going to crank up the temperatures around the bay area in fact temperatures will be soaring probably near triple digits in spots inland. But even out near the waters edge right along the coastline has been nice and cool well thats going to cut you off 3 that sea breeze let me just temperatures there may get up in the 70s. And of no 38 of the work they have been construction work sites. In of the outbreaks that weve documented 54 have been in the construction sector cody says the county is also seeing an uptick in icu visits and hospitalizations. Supervisors push cody to seek a variance from the state. So they can accelerate reopening, but cody told supervisors that uptick in hospitalizations has put the county on a state watch list. So the county doesnt qualify for a variance at the moment i dont we do need the car but it is important to understand that the we have to recalculate them every day because were looking at changes and tram what this means Going Forward is unclear.
