Up in the 70 danced in the city to where we do have some fog parked over the bay area this morning you can see the downtown skyline shrouded in some of this low lying cloud cover thats sitting right above financial district in San Francisco winds will help to sweep that fog out by the time we work our way through mid morning, youre going to notice winds. Breezy this morning but really picking up not so much today but on into tomorrow afternoon by the time we work our way into your friday just around the corner its going to be a return of those brisk conditions that we had last weekend in a bit of a cooler next couple of days ahead of us to so today when your last ones in the midst of our warm up that weve experienced this week wouldnt really call this midweek he a heat wave like we had been seeing but for inland areas, it certainly has been hot and sunny today or last day in the 90s for many of our inland spots, this ridge of High Pressure is still sitting in place but sitting right to our west as a cold front. Thats going to sweep in tomorrow resulting in those winds as well as some cooler air just around the corner so into the weekend its going to be familiar territory for us a lot like we were the past couple of weekends with much cooler conditions and that brisk wind on into the weekend as for friday night into saturday morning could see a sprinkle or 2 in the bay area although what were really going to be looking at us some showers returning to the sierra nevada, so if you are heading up to yosemite for opening weekend. Thats what you could be seeing not just some showers but even a few thunderstorms mixed income tomorrow night. Saturday will be one of our coolest and windiest of the forecast before we start to warm back up into the latter part of the weekend on sunday. Todays daytime highs 60s up the coast. This is cooler than we have been so if you are closer to the coast are going to keep the jacket on hand this afternoon elsewhere in the bay, definitely dont need a jacket, but youll notice a subtle cool down with 80s on must much of the peninsula south bay also hanging on the 80s today with morgan hill youre close to spot to 90 livermore double an unpleasant and mid to upper 80s while hayward in union city right at 80 degrees. Oakland your remain in the upper 70s concord hanging on to 90 degrees. But just barely well up in the north bay some more 90s and pittsburgh. Fairfield antioch vacaville and over to youngsville sonoma napa and santa rosa, some of our spots still in the upper 80s and still on the toasty side. Now after 2 days to see temperatures tomorrow and saturday are cool stays in the forecast, a whole lot cooler in fact than we are today as for sunday were closing out the weekend back to some warmer conditions and by monday tuesday and wednesday of next week. Its back to those temperatures inland on the warm side with comfortable conditions by the bay in coast. Thats your forecast james all send it back to you all right john thank you very much. Speaking of traveling and commuting bay area commuters can expect to see toll takers back in their booths in a few weeks and although the longterm goal of course is to go cashless Officials Say theyre preparing to get rid the toll takers but they cant do it just yet kron fours Maureen Kelly explains. Its these eastbound fast track lanes of the benicia bridge that Bay Area Transportation planners want all the toll plazas that state run bridges to look like with no toll booths in the way to force commuters to reduce speed going completely cashless has been a long term goal that was expected to come to fruition over the next couple of years. And then coronavirus hit. Toll takers were ordered how due to safety and the planned to go to all electronic tolling went into effect immediately. The switch was made smoother by the fact that bridge traffic all but disappeared, but nois the bay area is beginning to reopen congestion is making a comeback traffic is coming back for about 70 of where we were before this covid19 can ready ready slur of the metropolitan Transportation Commission says they like to stay cashless but there are still too many drivers not switching over to fast track. And in addition to contributing to backups at the bridges theyre also adding workload for the office staff which is also reduced to covid19 stuck with a tedious job of building those without fast tracked for the toll money they owe. And thats a job that gets more overwhelming the more cash paying drivers get back behind the wheel. So toll, takers will return to the job in weeks rather than months, but its expected that accepting any type of cash at bay area bridges will be in the rearview sooner than originally planned whats likely to take place. Is that were going to have the toll takers back. For some given period of time. And then were going to convert though the bridges back to our magic to collection and then later well take out the tool to infrastructure taking out the toll booths themselves will likely take years. But eventually open road tolling is expected to make crossing the state run bay area spans less of a stop and go experience. Maureen kelly kron 4 news. Community in San Francisco will not get any more expensive at least for the next couple of years and thats thanks to a new deal between unity and the San Francisco board of supervisors. The cost of many will stay the same over the next 2 years and in exchange for that the board of supervisors has agreed to drop a ballot measure that would have given supervisors the final say over fare changes since San Francisco issued stay at home orders muni has seen a dramatic decline in ridership and thats resulted in revenue loss.
