We even know if its successful are not still clear reports now from washington. Theres already a shortage of key drugs that might treat coronavirus symptoms and the fda isnt even sure if they work yet what that has meant however is that right now the supply chain channels are depleted of both of these products show we saw hot with Health Care Company premium bank says demand among hospitals for the drugs hydroxychloroquine and couric when have gone up 303,000 respectively but these drugs are used to treat existing medical conditions like Rheumatoid Arthritis and lupus hospitals or them in large quantities preparing for coronavirus patients, those who need them now. May suffer. They may start having some difficulty obtaining these products saw says mass producing more of these drugs wont be easy. The active pharmaceutical ingredients in them come from overseas, maybe spot shortages were keeping an eye on the fda director stephen hahn says if the drugs can treat the coronavirus his agency will work with the federal government to produce them quickly trying to increase with manufacturers production both domestic producers as well as international theyre relatively safe medication so theres probably no downside congressman armey barris cautiously optimistic about the drug trials, but he says because they were in short supply they should be prescribed carefully if in fact we see positive results with this. We have to prioritize to use to these medications for hospitalized patients. The fda wants these trials to be a top priority as the coronavirus coneinues to spread. In washington, im joe khaleel. The storm system rolling through much of northern and Central California even some thunderstorms in parts Central California, but also chance we could see some of that year as well as weve got a very unstable air mass sitting over again right now you see some of the stronger storms begin to move in you see that along the peninsula stretching across the bay and parts of the east bay now were seeing those bands moving in right now taking closer look you see some of the cells lining on through some heavier downpours in those areas of course san jose just kind of misses some of it is kind of a train of moisture that is moving from but a south to the northeast. You can see a train ride and along this area and making its way across to the east bay right now were going to see some of that heavy rainfall possibly moving in to places really into parts of a sunny day other going to see some heavy rainfall moving in their direction over the next few minutes you see this band this is almost akin to wreck track right across the bay and so folks that are living there and sonny bill you with a 6. 49 some heavy rainfall possibly their milpitas about to fremont about 7 oh 9 and as you make your way across the baby some downpours was mailed to theyre not the only one scattered showers pop up and you got some heavy downpours a just make the way parks parts of oakland along the peninsula, more rain in the San Francisco then dry things out in much of the north bay now the law already forecasters the was talking about this she loves lori forecast well here you go chance showers continuing for tomorrow. But i think that would be more widely scattered and so less rainfall around the bay area to catch a break for the most part on thursday, maybe public cloud or 2 of the mount but as we get ready for next weekend weve got another storm system that again another cold one bringing the chance of rain to the bay area on saturday babies lingering showers on sunday 2 and then we get a little bit of a break in fact our person was really started building may says motion will next week and maybe Start Talking about temperatures will be up in the 70s but not tomorrow, those numbers only going to be in the 50s outside it is one of the cool day and next couple days well see some showers least scattered around the bay area tomorrow, then by thursday and friday we dry things out and then a chance of rain returning to be real on saturday and sunday next week though justine we could be talking about some temperatures lia in the 70s thats led forecast back to the spring isnt ready to spring. The doors at Emerson Joseph are closed for now for a lot of Small Businesses just like it. The real question is how law. Owners at edwards recently shared his struggle as a Small Business owner right now and a National Feature with the New York Times emerson says revenue his salon dropped nearly 80 in a matter of weeks until it stops completely. That was to sean brown reporting for us tonight and you can take on this challenge just check in with the business first to see if theyre booking system is still open. Joining us now is our chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow with a look at our forecast and the outlook for spring which apparently i said its going to be springing. Maybe spring has sprung. Weve got to switch fill more like spring in spring time and now all of a sudden is certainly feeling a whole lot more like winter though temperatures outside teenage very chilly with a cold front coming down from the gulf of alaska and the clouds rolling in right now to you can see that over the Golden Gate Bridge scattered showers popping up around the bay area, not many to the north bay but further youre seeing plenty of rain out there right now very very active day around much of the state least in the have personal as were seeing the showers and the thunderstorms lots of snow in the Sierra Nevada as well the bay area really kind of getting hit right now by a couple strong bands are and that are now moving on shore you can see those cells a movement in the santa cruz mountains, heavier bands moving in that direction in fact so they sell for us in some heavy amounts of rainfall and a tour. Morgan hill right now and your weve been tracking that heavy rainfall moving to watsonville seniors got selling their job to the south but the likely going to pick up some of that rain very shortly and then you get inside the bay and more those heavy bands moving through started his land across the parts of the east bay you see some of that there as we take in for a closer look now soms of those cells bring some heavy rainfall down in the milpitas would be unheard of to see some hail maybe some embedded thunderstorms you can see the core of that system that is now making its way through milpitas and you see milpitas boulevard youre seeing some heavy rainfall there right on the 6. 80 just about to get pounded as that system comes on shore and continues to move on through so certainly every rainfall moving right along the a 82 little further north you see pockets of a moderate amounts of rainfall sliding on through and so thats kind of the case with these kind of systems you got a very cold unstable air. So you can see these pockets of some heavier downpours youre seeing some rain in the cocker right now you see the pink right there that is actually some sleet and some snow showing up on mount diablo so im very active afternoon with the showers moving in along the peninsula to you see the showers there in the san mateo south San Francisco and stepsister proper just stretching across the bay now making its way in oakland. Well part of the north bay just why the scattered showers and you can see even a couple of snowflakes across some of them or about at a really not a whole lot of that activity there tonight, partly cloudy skies well see decreasing showers overnight tonight, partly cloudy tomorrow chance of few scattered showers temperatures one pileup is going to be chilly numbers right now in the 40s 50s but overnight lows. Getting all the way down into the low 30s, maybe get close to freezing in the north bay, heres your pattern right now and you see the justin taking a big and that is bringing with all that cold air right out of the gulf of alaska bring it into the bay area that is really the chilly temperatures outside the showers likely to continue for at least another day and that looks like things will begin to settle now least for maybe a couple days, but were not done by any means justine weve got another storm expected to move in for the weekend that coming out the gulf alaska, so yeah we have more of a winter like pattern setting up with more wintry weather expected over the weekend to isolate forecast back you.
