first us citizen has died from corona virus. >>the us embassy in beijing says the patient was 60 years old and died earlier this week and will china. current virus has killed more than 700 people around the world mostly in china. 10's of thousands of people have been infected in 27 countries and territories at least 12 of those cases have been confirmed here in the us as china continues to struggle to contain the epidemic more americans evacuated from china are now in northern california. a second group evacuees landed at travis air force base near fairfield early friday morning. the cdc says 5 of them are showing symptoms of corona virus. the patients were from different planes. the group is not yet been diagnosed with corona virus but we're showing some symptoms. they will be quarantined for 2 weeks. doctor henry walke of the cdc says his team is handling the situation aggressively. this is the first time in 50 years and we've used to court in order to. >>restrict movement patients and healthcare providers, the most important thing that we need to do to protect both patients and staff is recognize when patients have one of these diseases. usually when i'm the sky types of infections are transmitted in health care settings. >>it's because for a period of time people just didn't realize that was what was going on. and so people weren't using the necessary precautions. >>corona virus patients will stay in one of 50 isolation rooms spread throughout the hospital one of the ways they're different is they have what we call negative pressure with respect to the elmer who dart a admitted to a family member that he murdered his wife tuesday night before he was ultimately placed under arrest in mountain view for the hayward homicide. that's according to court vallejo are investigating a deadly shooting officers say it happened about 7 10 friday evening at highland park. >>the victim identified as a 38 year-old boy oh man who later died at a hospital. police are asking anyone with any information to give them a call. it's the first homicide of this year in the late help. just go supervisor asking for governor newsom's help in fighting drug overdoses. supervisor matt haney sent a letter to the governor's office asking for an executive order that would declare a public health emergency. the letter cites a recent announcement confirming overdose deaths caused by fentanyl and heroin in san francisco, doubled in 2019. the san francisco city college student jumped into action when he found an unresponsive man at the civic center bart sprawling encampment along the job or dota trail happened after months of debate and the cleanup of the area is expected to drag on for several more weeks, but now some of the homeless service providers who help this population are finding themselves facing 34% cuts in funding from the county starting july first what that means in can translate into is less shelter beds less housing beds, people losing their house because they other nonprofits can't continue. >>those housing units and so it could to create more individuals living on our streets and that's not ok. >>jaylin homes as the chief program officer for catholic charities, the largest homeless service provider in the county she says they'll be trying to drum up more funding sources in the community to try and make up for the shortfall. >>you know we've been able to actually tripled the number of people we housed in the last few years and my big concern is that progress is going to get stalled and or fall backwards and we have no ability to do that because homelessness is a crisis and it is an emergency right now obviously it is disappointing because we have significant issue here the mayor of santa rosa is also the chair, the leadership council for home sonoma. >>the agency forced to make the tough choice of where to make these cuts he says this comes because last year the state gave them million one-time funding to spend on homelessness. >>and this year they got nearly 4 million with the county getting an additional 3 million for a total of close to million and while that's better than nothing he hopes the state sees the importance of investing locally in addressing the homeless crisis the states now get this billion-dollar multiple billions of dollars in the rainy day fund. >>so at the local couple of hours all over the bay and temperatures really haven't moved too much the fog keeping things slow 40's across a good piece of real estate 50 for oakland. and there's some chilly 30's up there the north bay nevado in santa rosa at 38 for comparison's sake, we're a little bit ahead of yesterday's you can see it's probably going to be the case like this tomorrow, the same kind of map because of those winds. and here's the coverage area for when a wind advisory, this will be with us until about monday morning at 11, but the areas not covered on there in the santa clara valley also the the east bay shoreline as you can see along the bay side and an eyesore chunk up here the north bay and napa and sonoma counties. so there are good chunks that are included in this. but as you can this week and will on china. corona virus all told has killed more than 700 people around the world most of them in china. 10's of thousands of people have been infected in 27 countries and territories at least 12 cases have been confirmed here in the u s. as china continues to contain the epidemic and struggles to do so more americans evacuated from china are now in northern california. a second group of evacuees landed at travis air force base near fairfield early friday morning. the cdc says 5 of them are showing symptoms of the corona virus. they will be quarantined on that travis air force base what we know hundreds of passengers arrive from wuhan china. this morning, a 53 of them will be staying here under quarantine for 2 weeks 4 of those were taken to local hospitals for evaluation out of an abundance of caution. the group has not been diagnosed with the new corona virus but were displaying symptoms, according to doctor henry walke from the centers for disease they'll be under quarantine for 2 weeks. hospitals in san francisco are also preparing to treat corona virus patients kron four's dan kerman spoke with a doctor at san francisco general hospital what's being done there to protect patients and hospital staff. >>if someone is admitted to san francisco general hospital with the corona virus. officials say precautions are in place to protect both patients and healthcare providers, the most important thing that we need to do to protect both patients and staff is recognize when patients have one of these diseases, usually when i'm the sky types of infections are transmitted in healthcare. settings it's because for a period of time people just didn't realize that was what was going on. >>and so people weren't using the necessary precautions, corona virus patients will stay in one of 50 isolation rooms spread throughout the hospital one of the ways they're different is they have what we call negative pressure with respect to the corridor. >>or outside area to the ram negative pressure means that air pressure flows into the patient's room, not the other way around those preventing the spread of germs. >>isolation rooms also have anti room separating the corridor from the patient's room here medical staff will put on protective clothing before coming in contact with the patient. health care worker would be wearing a respirator usually an n 95 respirator. >>in addition we use what's contact precautions or contact isolation so the health care worker will be wearing, i'm a gown and gloves and then we also want to make sure that the health care worker is protected any droplets that touch one of their mucous membranes like their eyes so they're going to be wearing goggles or a shield in addition to the respirator health for a 1994 to 2000 year model 2 door green floor ford explorer suv that they say was leaving the scene about 5 o'clock yesterday evening. police say it should have minor damage to the front of the vehicle. it was last seen driving westbound on calling the avenue from 23th street enrichment. a 35 year-old antioch man is facing murder charges in connection with a shooting in pittsburgh late last year, pittsburgh police say 2 gunmen broke into a home on haven would circle back on december 14th and shot a man. the victim was with his wife and children at the time. and police say they identified one of the suspects as mark anthony thomas, they arrested him this week. investigators still looking for the second suspect. walnut creek police say that this man david justice was in a standoff with investigators for about 4 hours. police went to justice home in arraigned on friday afternoon to question him about a assault incident. police say that he got in his car and drove away, but then husband is now charged with their murder. >>the alameda county district attorney's office says 40 year-old elmer who dart a admitted to a family member that he murdered his wife tuesday night before francisco supervisors asking governor newsom's help in the fighting drug overdoses supervisor matt haney sent a letter to the governor's office asking for an executive order that would declare a public health emergency. the letter cites a recent announcement that confirms overdose deaths caused by fentanyl and heroin in san francisco doubled in 2019. the san francisco city college student
