Our friend Cameron Mathison. It was a shocking moment for cameron and all who loves him to learn about his cancer diagnosis last september. Cam sharing with me the hardest part of his health battle. Youre like oh, my god i got cancer. This is really happening. Ive got a tumor on my right kidney thats consistent with Kidney Cancer. Im going in for my cancer removal surgery tomorrow. It sounds funny when i say it out loud. It was definitely without question the hardest thing in the world i ever had to do was tell i said this so many times and it still the hardest thing i ever had to do was tell my kids. I thought about making a video for lucas and leila just in case i dont know. Just in case something happens during the surgery, telling them how much i love them. It was, you know, terrifying, but also very surreal. Eight little scars proudly displayed, a reminder of the surgery cam had ten weeks ago after being diagnosed with Kidney Cancer in august. Doctors were able to remove the tumor completely and were happy to report no chemo or radiation. Did you get an all clear or no . I got an all clear. Im cancer free and so im a cancer survivor. Ive got to own it. Its like i definitely have to own it and be proud of it. Its no secret to any of our viewers that youre a handsome man. Wow. Was it hard to see your body cut up the way it was . Its sort of embarrassing to say, but a large part of my career came from being aesthetically in shape, you know, like i wasnt necessarily in shape on the inside. Did you feel anger . Because you are not someone who eats fast food and doesnt work out. Youre in the gym every day. I see you eating nuts and bone broth and all the other gross stuff. Like are you you gotta be angry. Like thats not really fair. One of my first thoughts is maybe i should just go back to drinking beer and eating pizza. You know what i mean . Like whats going on here . Right. Im the most insane about health and fitness and longevity than anybody that i know and if i can get a cancer diagnosis i was like yeah, i was a little annoyed. It was growing they think between 8 and 12 years cause these things grow really slowly. Luckily they also believe that because i eat such like im such a healthy guy that it didnt spread. That was one of the reasons that its been there for a long time and didnt get into my lymph nodes and my liver and my lungs et cetera cause if that was the case it would have been a very different story. Keltie was the first person to visit me in the hospital by the way. And you had no color. Thats what really tripped me up. The color of gray you were after the surgery. My kids walked in and it was kind of like i could see it on their face too. They walked in and they looked like yeah. It was it was hard. I know. Now cam is working on getting his strength back and celebrating the holidays with his family. That includes the premiere of his new hallmark christmas movies the christmas club. When somebody cares about something as much as you do they make it happen. Its about you know following the signs. Looking at Little Things in your life as little signs and indications of decisions to make and i came off this movie and im like im not gonna ignore the signs anymore.
