Do you try to it if you even mention that you have an idea of who this suspect is unable to get in touch with any family members or anyone who knows this individual. Moving in to execute search warrants and to do things of this nature. They have all sorts of tools that they can use including canines. I have seen any koch theres a canine a unit there on scene. Helpful in terms of locating the actual suspect door is it just based on the information that that your folks developed on the ground. Miss information we have and we have that initial and so have our special force and their personnel respond. Part of that team are the canine handlers. Is one of those because they want to make sure you have your enamel is available they can do things that we dont want to put a for example, certain for someone who is art. I would imagine authorities and weve seen as with other School Shootings in the past where they they know sometimes theres a list of people that have been flagged that youre aware of here. And so we got to the park like safe you are let go of your daughter though. Very scary. We ran, were the one shot them and then for after and we just started running and this all heard with all these kids running into screaming and calling their parents and it was very did you call your mom right away coal mine as soon as i got no, i was safe enough to get by the neighborhoods after iran after those people. So she was hiding and she was like texting on all of us and she was like so scared, there was just crazy. And i waited and waited and finally my daughter came running out to mean that was the best thing ever that started here in so she got out she was one of the first to get out one of the causes that was you know. Now she was on the first that she was able to get out and he still didnt know where in lee ok. And i finally found out that she was wet her girlfriend and her mom which is like a relief. I was so like i was so kind of confuses like apparently theres School Shooting and but im ok im in lockdown and my costs and everything and i just really shaky and everything but how did you how long re there before you were able to get out how did that happen where you knew you were safe. I think it was about 15 minutes. But im not sure what was going on during that time as you guys all kind of realize at the same time that this wasnt really goes ahead rules before rate, yes, this is real. Apparently they know the boy who opened fire. The police. Are pretty confident from all the witnesses and they even saw the video and they have surrounded a house house. Thats all we know so far they havent made an arrest yet they just say it was a 15 yearold student of the school in terms of the number of injured right now weve been able to 5 at least we heard from the hospital that they were currently treating 2 victims in Critical Condition with 3 more in or out by this point those sure have arrived at the hospital so theyre being cared for now. Again these live pictures from above showing us the house in question that Police Believe that gunman is inside described only as a 15 yearold asian boy wearing all black foot from the witnesses who actually saw the shooting there at the school and of course confirmed with the Security Camera footage of police were able to look at in the wake of the shooting there waiting right now 4. A search warrant at which point they we believe will try make entry and just looking and looks like they havent gone and yet and still ahead thejes another scene at the school. And then theres another scene over at the park where are the kids as theyve been cleared for their classrooms are able to reunite with their parents and thats where weve been getting a lot from our live reports of kids who heard gunshots, some saying they heard 4 or 5 others saying they heard more it doesnt sound like they were in rapid succession as they recall what happened. They seem pretty clearly distinct shots so it could have been you know maybe an automatic handgun have a thing it doesnt sound like it was rapid fire. And the kids felt like they had time an a theft or her hearing one or 2 shots to start running which many of them did and those are the ones that were listening to our live report that a lot of that live. They believe that suspect is a student. He did tell us they were preparing to execute a search warrant if you put 2, 2 together that suggests that the house that theyre looking at is the house where theyre going to execute that search warrant. We have heard were. That that that suspect. May or may not be in custody, but but the sheriff is still asking folks to remain sheltered in place. Until we get the allclear were going to continue to to tell people in the neighborhood that but i was just wondering based on what you are seeing here. That search warrant bed executed. Have they taken anyone into custody, what have you been witnessing as weve been watching the events on the ground here at the school. But closer to what you are able to see at this point here this is at the 20,500 block of Sycamore Creek right now we world. The special Enforcement Bureau deputies here for the la county Sheriffs Department at a camp they have. Its going to something that we will be looking at them over the course of the next several minutes here, but again this is a neighborhood that we have been watching but not too far. A potential sighting of the suspect here. Ok road. Think what the suspects condition is at this it was thought that the suspect might be in this house. You this are still stationed at the residence for now. Mark how large of an area are authorities looking at are they really just focused on this one particular home are they still coming through the neighborhood. If it is a situation. It is about the suspect perhaps the suspect is still at large. Given the fact that the suspect was possibly see to the right. Bility that if you still at large might still be in the immediate neighborhood as they fight want to. Viewers at home, you know where were receiving and aware of the same reports that you probably heard. Or scene that the suspect is is no longer a threat but the the last official word that we have from the sheriff alex fit me in a way this is just a few moments ago was that folks should remain sheltered in place at least in this immediate neighborhood saugus high and around your location. 20 to 900 block of Sycamore Creek drive and so until we get official word from the Sheriffs Department either via tweet or. We were told initially the Sheriffs Department vehicle also was involved in transport of at least one patient. So while were saying 6 patients there may be 7 as the sheriff said develop more information as it becomes available. We also in speaking with the sheriff he had mentioned that schools are on lockdown as a precaution, he said that student are currently safe and we did just get word that they had lifted some of those lockdowns the ones that are still currently on lockdown is a royal sake of junior high and sawdust which believes the heart school. A district as well so that the sheriff wanted parents are listening to know that obviously if theres still a suspect out there every parent. You know is is worried when they hear that their their student is on lockdown at a nearby school but they said just because of the proximity of the nearby schools to saugus they went ahead and did that as a cause. Apparently the shooting started about 7. 30 he was into a meeting with his coach that he happened to have and he said that he heard the shooting and he called me crying frantic, he was scared so i took this to go straight to the room. And him and his teammates were locked up in the room with their my neighbors son did see the whole thing and the very place that happened in the plot is the barry police my son would have been had now not had this meeting today. Its just a frantic situation to be in because you dont know whats going on you see all the cars of the Police Ambulance in undercover Highway Patrol flying by you almost hitting your car because youre not sure whats going on. I was just panic the whole entire morning until i heard from him again. He said he was ok to hear him call you in that. And parents of of some of victims not getting that phone call and not hearing the the voice that they want to hear and we can only imagine howl frantic they are. Right what youre witnessing here is this exodus from the school over to g the the central park where land that is standing in the church right next to that. To central park. So all the students are. Fine getting finding their way over there. The parents are also going. You cant just in a situation like this run over and say thats my child and and grab him or her and that that thats not how these things work and so there will be a processing that happens and we just ask the parents is as a as upsetting is this is and how difficult this must be to just please follow the instructions of the Law Enforcement personnel and the school officials. You know if you see your child and your child is walking. That is good news as our thats our partner ktla down in Southern California. And there live coverage is theyre talking about how now thousands are at least hundreds of High School Students that are okay are being reunited united with their parents. However, we know that at least 7 people and it seems that theyre all students were wounded at least wounded, we dont know about fatalities yet in this attack by a shooter that was a student at the school who opened fire at about 7 40 this morning, according to the la times they have confirmed on their front. That the shooter is no longer a threat. We dont know exactly what that means if the shooter is in custody or perhaps the shooter. Killed himself were not entirely sure described as a 15 yearold asian male wearing all black we have heard from henry Mayo Hospital who received some of those. Shooting victims theyve reported that they have for patients in their care 3 males, one female, one of the males is in good condition. They say, but the other 2 males and that female patient are described being in Critical Condition right now ok so that that that is how it stands for those students who were. Wounded or worse this morning by this gunman who opened fire. Theyre going to try to piece together why he did it. The kids know knew who he was they told the police the police looked at video they saw the events unfolding on video they quickly went to the shooters house surrounded and theyre still surrounding that house right now. They were waiting for a search warrant. They have not done anything as far as announcing what happened to the shooter. They just said that hes not a threat anymore. Presumably. Hes in the house. But like you said james, we dont right decision and were looking at here is the situation at the rena k per unit, reunification area which is at central park. A little ways away from the high school itself there are basically 2 churches one on the park side of the street and one across the street what theyve done is theyve taken the kids too. One of the churches where they were all interviewed they were if necessary they were basically a security theyre being loaded on buses. Theyre going to be brought across the street to the other church where the parents are waiting and thats where the reunification will occur. And where were going to see you know the survivors have trouble is you know getting over this because they were just describing a horrible scene hearing gunshots in their school and running for their lives or sheltering in place are hiding in closets and the like so its a really horrible experience for all of those kids and the worse for some families that are probably just now finding out whether or not their kids were among the victims. Here for you from your experience and really i think weve got some more students coming up from the to the other opposite end of the high school right now the suspect may have still been inside or is still inside what was your gut on that. And as the kick the door down they move me out of the area i was i was fairly close to house with and i would have to say maybe a 100 feet to 200 feet of the house and as the kick the door and. Theyd put up tape way down the block and they moved me out of there. Whether the suspect was in the house or not they were they were serious they were treating it like that suspect again just to recap. We understand through our. Apartment ever cnn that they suspected gunman is dead. Thats what theyve been reporting. Inside that house or an update on that is this breaking information comes in. And were beginning to piece more details together about what unfolded here at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita about 40 miles north of al a this morning. There was a School Shooting. Police say it was a 15 yearold a student who opened fire around 07 40am. And then when on foot about a mile halfway to his home which they then and surrounded and we have just heard that they took his body or took him. Wounded in some fashion to the hospital we dont know his condition we just know he is no longer a threat and he was taken from his home. We also know that there are about 7 students victims that are wounded that came directly from a live interview that we just broadcast with the sheriff. He says 6 were transported by ambulance and one was actually taken in police vehicle. Yeah apparently couldnt wait for the ambulance to arrive, so they spent that person to the hospitals quick as they could. Youre looking at live aerial pictures from our partner station or sister station ktla and weve been dipping in and out of there. Their coverage. Throughout the morning there you can see theyre still a heavy presence on the scale of the campus of the high school itself with the ambulance and fire personnel First Responders i dont know if we can listen in a little bit more for still getting their broadcast signal but lets try it was trying to follow some of the coverage again. And multiple leads as to who did it and there was Surveillance Video that. Captured at least that suspect on camera he wouldnt say whether the actual incident was captured on camera. The video that were looking at folks are are the students are walking over to the church of latter day saints. And then there catching a bus to central park which is nearby so thats why you see students walking getting on buses. And then heading over to to the park to central park. We just got an update that there will be a press conference in about 15 minutes. To give folks that update about that suspect being in custody be because we saw neighborhoods being told to lock your doors and stay inside and dont. You know go outside if you see anybody in your backyard. Please call authorities. My guess is theyre going to want to get this information out to those living in the area and to give them a bit of a sense of relief that they do have that suspect in custody now. And did that neighborhood that we are watching throughout the morning. There were officers all theyre out walking up and down checking in the garages of homes in the backyards of homes. Sycamore creek drive. The area and 29,000 block or 22,000 block excuse me of Sycamore Creek drive. So that information well give that people in this area, some peace of mind and it. If if in fact the suspect is in custody as said then we have no reason to doubt that the suspect is not. It makes sense that they immediately identified a residence and that there are preparing to execute a search warrant as opposed to going to make an and and it also makes sense that they took their time about going in you you dont know if the home is booby trapped. You also dont know if there are additional suspects as we know columbine had multiple shooters. And other. Active shooter have had more than one shooter so you have to assume that there could be. An additional threat even though that person may either been taken down our at a selfinflicted wound. The initial shooter you have to assume there could be others and and the conservative and cautious in these situations which is i believe what the Sheriffs Department is doing in and also with regard to the release of information they dont want to immediately say we have someone in custody. The suspect is dead or whatever the situation may be. The latest is that suspect is in custody being treated at a local hospital. And were watching when the shot moments ago and this is is part of the students that were. Down at saugus High School Students were told we believe just from hearing other students that were on campus to shelter in place theyre taught what to do the of active Shooter Drills they go into the classroom, they locked the doors they turn off the lights. And there i would imagine theres maybe out hours. There are 2 hours go by where the students dont know exactly whats going on is the information. You begin to piece it together and as we mentioned earlier what can happen in a situation like this is students Start Talking texting in in misinformation get spread as well so i would imagine a lot of the students just didnt know what was going on or if the threat was still there. So they must be incredibly relieved to be out of school to be back with their families. In a safe situation. Why and you can tell from the body language of the sheriffs deputies just in the past hour or so that it has calmed. When we first came on this the first image that we saw was someone being treated with cpr on the campuses Saugus High School. From that to where we are now at 00 48am in the morning here in Southern California. A very different situation in terms of the physical body language of the sheriffs deputies on scene clearly its still a very active situation for every single parent and student and and what they are experiencing. Do we have on that right now. All right so we are just joining in that to get any more details that we can about the situation with the shooter.
