And we have Team Coverage this evening of the kim k fire the bad air quality as well as the pjd angle with all the shops. Prince Charles Clifford first his east of windsor near the fire right now chucwhere things stand. Well it has been a very a busy day here for fire crews fighting the can kade fire. Theyve been struggling to get some more containment on this blaze was going to take a look at some video kind of the story here fought road im standing ri ht now is spot fires small fires that have been burning throughout the day you go drive along the road here you can see these little fires pop up. They are all over the place out here and fire crews are spread out trying to knock them down. Also trying to build containment lines around the entire fire. Ive also seen some damage homes. Some out structures there was a small bridge that had caught fire, althouge nothing around the bridge had burned and thats kind of the story with these little embers of float through the air and land they can start these little random fires and right now our crews are back there trying to clean those up. Theyre also focusing on trying to get ready for the potential wind event that we are expecting maybe tomorrow afternoon, heres cal fire explaining how they they are preparing. Were taking advantage of right now the winds are being com. Prep everything go out and a new structure. Preparedness. All the Property Owners out here and just hope that thats going to be on favor. Now the other thing is the air attack on this fire throughout most of the day there was an inversion layer and all the smoke was sort of sitting on the area here and they couldnt fly any fixed wing or helicopters because they couldnt see what they were doing diversion ul airlifted midafternoon and here just the last couple of hours theres been a considerable number of helicopters, making water drops kind to this north of where im standing right now that work will continue probably until sunset hand crews are out here from all over california and also from nevada and oregon trying to assist with fighting this fire. But for now in Sonoma County Charles Clifford kron 4 news. All right chuck we want to take a closer look now at where the fire is burning and where Evacuation Orders are in place the red is the fire area. The purple is where people are under Evacuation Orders right now in the area and blue. Thats been downgraded to evacuation warning that means folks who live in that area need to be ready to go at a moments notice if the fire gets worse, but you see how it extended all the way there to the coast said the order did again that has been changed to a warning the blue area part of santa rosa remains under Evacuation Order tonight among the areas coffee party member that neighborhood that was leveled just 2 years ago and that horrific north a firestorm. Our kron fours dan kerman is there live tonight talking to evacuees about this new normal dan they must be so weary by now. Absolutely where you know a lot of these people moved into these new homes just a month ago some 2 months ago, maybe as many as. 3 months ago, but thats it and now once again after a few days. They have been evacuated again. We talked to some of the people who had stopped back during the day to pick up a few things theyve already been gone for a few days stop back checking on their house watering the roof. They are not sure they can put up with this if its going to become that new normal. Out of the ashes of 27 teens north bay fire storm. Rosas coffey park neighborhood is filled with homes again where they actually the living example that you can survive and rebuild tell. This couple was only able to save their mailbox when fire hit last time before was we evacuated while house was burning many here have been in their new homes for less than 3 months and yet once again have had to evacuate this time because of the kincade fire. Socially bring back to theres a lot of internal conflict but you know i safety first those we ran into stop back at their new homes for a few hours on monday to pick up a few things and keep an eye out before heading back out before nightfall check in the house coming to water it this much like can get it wet before i take off but some are concerned fire evacuations may become the new normal. And theyre not sure theyre ready for that even though we have a lovely piece of property with a giant backyard, fabulous view. You know its limits on the consideration of we want to be going through this every year. Others we spoke with said that if their homes burned down again they would rebuild like they have already so it just kind of. Depends who youre talking to almost everybody did say that they appreciate the early Evacuation Orders so theyre not scrambling and theyre happy to be gone and out of the way of firefighters live in santa rosa dan kerman kron 4 news. Thank you dan happening now a spare the air alert is in effect due to poor air quality across much of the bay area. This is a picture showing the smoke above San Franciscos taken as a crime for viewer flew over the bay you see that haze, theyre just resting the bad air quality as a result of course of that rapidly growing kincade fire burning in Sonoma County. As well as the Grizzly Island fire that was burning south of sassoon city as of this morning, the latest air quality map shows the immediate area here near the kincade fire you see way up the red reading at 3. 43 right where the fire is a backup you can see that right there the higher the number of course the worse the air quality and you see the numbers on this map as we move around, you know the darker areas really high smoke drifting to the east bay as well Contra Costa County there. Had a tough go of it today, you see pockets of real read over there near san ramon north of san ramon thats near walnut creek and pleasant pale by comparison, coastal areas in San Francisco. They remain a in the 60s the lower the number as we said the better the air quality folks are advice, especially if youre in an area, you know over a 100 say orange red stay indoors as much as you can with the windows and doors closed fortunately it was that hot today so it was comfortable to do so want to check in with our chief meteorologist now Lawrence Karnow who is tracking the air quality as well as the winds which are forecasted to kick up again tomorrow lawrence yeah, sure are great you know whats interesting about smoke is the particulates are so small it doesnt take much really. For that to walked about to see any minor change in the wind conditions all of a sudden you see a lot of smoke began to fill in your neighborhoods now the trend again looks like more that north northeasterly wind that is that offshore flow. So again a lot of the smoke from the fires is going to begin to push down toward the bay area here the very latest on the fire conditions you can their Geyserville Healdsburg cloverdale mostly westerly winds right now thats a sea breeze that is currently blowing in that area. So that has taken that smoke and pushing it toward middletown also kellogg in calistoga maybe toward the napa valley things going to begin to change though as we head in toward tomorrow fact were going to begin to see more of a northerly component to win so that is going to begin to drag a lot of that smoke right back down into the bay right or San Francisco toward parts of the east bay. And whats interesting about topography of the bay almost acts like a bowl so once that smoke gets in there. Its kind of trapped without a way to get out so many parts of of the bay in around parts of the east bay and oakland the hayward in the fremont youre looking at a lot of smoke possibly piling up as we head in toward tomorrow afternoon. Our quality certainly a concern the worst air quality in and around those with the fire right now. Overnight tonight, the winds will turn call that means all that smoke is likely to settle in that area if you live in and around that area and you havent evacuated make sure you keep your doors and windows closed tonight going to see a lot of smoke overnight tonight guys. Meanwhile millions of people all across from the california are starting to get their power. Back after pg conducted another round of Public Safety power shutoff says is the map that shows the current outages, the purple is thats the area affected by the safety shut off.
