Remember yesterday or 2 record breaking days of 99 degrees each 79 is a lot better than that san jose and los gatos 81 for highs while santa clara and milpitas in the upper 70s. Temperatures right alongside the bay will also be on the rise taking us into the low 80s come thursday where will stay through the weekend and even coastal areas seeing a bit of a warmup back into the 70s come wednesday and thursday for your highs, plenty of sunshine during this time so dont expect any chances of rain just yet even though we did have that little feel of there for just a second yesterday and this morning. San Francisco Mayor london breed announce a new program to keep teachers in the city the citys budget will now include 10 million for this Pilot Program for teachers are serving disadvantaged students. Nearly all of the schools targeted by this program are located in the citys Bayview Mission and southeastern neighborhoods. The teachers will now receive as part of this Pilot Program an additional 3,000 per year on top of their base salary to stay in the school district. The mayor is hoping this will help lower the high turnover rate of teachers with we see in those areas and in related news, this Program Comes at a time when teachers say they cant afford to live in the bay area communities in which they teach. Thats according to a study from the council of Community Housing organizations, it found the average day care provider would need to earn 4 times their salary to afford market rate grants and kindergarten teachers can afford less than half of the rent of a onebedroom apartment here in the bay area. What happens when they are able to live close in they stressed out trying to get to work. And it could it creates a tremendous burden on their ability to do quality work which our children then suffer an education, but also what were seeing is attrition. School districts are losing some other teachers because theyre not paid enough a new way to do that level of kind of stressful committing theyre just going to take off and go work somewhere else and so we have both the nutrition problem, but also we have the benefits of folks like that in our communities. There are 2 Pilot Programs under way in the bay area where schools are using existing land to build housing for teachers will see if that helps. Police meanwhile are searching for a man who stabbed cal state fullerton faculty member to death in the mpus parking lot that attack happened yesterday morning on the first day of the fall semester. The victim was found inside his car with multiple stab wounds. Witnesses tell police they saw a man dressed in all black running down a nearby street. Officers though were unable to find the attacker. The fact that whoever did this would do it at his place of work just i mean shows a lot something have something had to be going on. Authorities found a backpack near the scene with a weapon inside. Theyre hoping to link it to a suspect. The campus was not put on lockdown while they investigated. 2 teenage boys from the bay area could came face to face with the bear after that theyre got into their house.
