So chief eddie garcia he announced the creation of the Guardian School prom. And that involves 9 pairs of Police Officers dedicated to stopping violence. Mitigation plan in place. In national headlines, panic and fear at another walmart this follows a mass shooting at that Walmart El Paso texas in which 22 people died. Well yesterday it was in springfield, missouri, a man entered a walmart carrying guns and more than a 100 rounds of ammunition. He was wearing body armor and that caused everybody to panic. Now as luck would have it there was an armed offduty firefighter that was able to detain him until police got there and arrested him no shots were fired. Nobody was hurt. This was thursday police say it started with the crash and after 2 men got out of one of the cars, one was armed with what police say was ar 15 thats an assault rifle. He began shooting at the other car that was involved in the accident. Both men in that second car were killed. Police say they found a large trash bag filled with pot in that car after the shooting, but theyre still looking. Its a must multiple possible motives road rage. An accident. Politics we just dont know yet. Both suspects got away. Police say another driver who carried a pistol in his vehicle for personal protection and feared for his life and hes the one who fired at the shooters potentially scaring them off they dont know if that shooter was hit. So showers along the north coast of the state today as well as the Sierra Nevada and a few over Coastal Range areas bay area remains dry and were just enjoying the cool down at the same area of low pressure there is offering up for us for coastal areas, youre not going notice much of a difference temperatures pretty steady still has that marine influence while our inland areas are going to be feeling the big difference in temperatures compared to where we have been as daytime highs barely even peak in the 80s today low 80s for san jose and campbell as well as los gatos and saratoga a range of 70 and 80s out into the east bay near exceptions being berkeley and richmond in the upper 60s for your highs today, north base same range of numbers for you 6070s 80s that comfortable sweet spot of daytime highs in the bay area that we all like to see as for saturday and sunday temperatures will still be pretty comfortable. Were to the city of oakland where were following breaking news a check out this photo that we got. There is a fire thats burning possibly at a warehouse, this is not too far from east 11th and 23th in the city of oakland we do understand the fire crews have made it out to the scene and is burning sort of just north of the nimitz freeway commuters are getting a view of that large plume of smoke and it is starting to back up traffic northbound its jam from 66 southbound its going to be quite heavy out of downtown oakland. And again were going to following this for you this morning, there is a mix of residential and a warehouse commercial space there says hard to tell exactly whats being threatened right now, but again as robin mentioned latest word is that it is some sort of Warehouse Space thats on fire and you can see the plume of smoke goes. High enough into the air thats being seen from miles around to keep it to the kron 4 will have the very latest on that were also tracking it from various angles to i dont know this is going to cause any problems on some of the freeway traffic rebecca, but its certainly something people are dumb a slowdown to take a look at as they go by yeah thats right were actually roadways right along 8. 80 through oakland, were just ses just speeds are under the limit right now. Actually some video our first look at some video coming i car recording. The smoke as they go by i looks like its burning pretty intently so yeah, right next to the nimitz a person looks like and they were on the nimitz freeway when they recorded. This video once again the fire is up to a 3 alarms. We do understand that the Oakland Fire Department is on scene. Its unclear how many structures are threatened at this time if its just one building or more or even if we have injuries, but it looks like its still going. Its still thick and black, which means they dont have it under control just yet but for folks living or working in the area you want to make sure you stay away from east 11th near 23th that was the latest update on the location that we got to once again its just north of the nimitz freeway definitely a visual distraction for people driving by on 8 80 in both directions. Yes, i was going to say looks like its just north of the nimitz freeway you can see one of the the brick houses which is sort of a landmark for people who travel on 8. 80 you can see that fire burning right next to it was it impacting try was taking a look the did and he said you are heading northbound you saw it on your left hand side. Absolutely and so that is our breaking news story this morning as we continue to follow the very latest out of oakland again this is between 11th and our on 11th between 23th and 25th something on twitter did looks like the print shop is burning and i took a look at there is a print shop there hangar 11 soak screening. Unconfirmed yet if thats the actual facility, its burning could have just been that persons estimation as they were driving by, but there as i said there is a lot of space their commercial space there and intermixed with that are small pockets of residential housing. No word of any evacuations yet at this point. Bore still waiting to hear from the Fire Department as to whether they have the scene under control or not and they are urging everyone to stay away from that stretch east 11 between. 23th and 25th and youll also want to expect delays on the nimitz freeway thats why we want to check in with rebecca strong because rebecca we spoke with a lorry she was drugged driving on the nimitz when she spotted the flames. And the smoke house is impacting traffic because its right there and its visible from both northbound and southbound sides. Yeah you can actually see we actually switch over the traffic maps you can actually see traffic on both sides of the nimitz freeway through oakland being affected you can see the traffic sensors picking that up on our maps, the red and the orange on your screen. Normally its green through there right but out because folks are slowing down and take a look on northbound a were seeing a delays like out of the castor valley area if you are traveling on the northbound direction into downtown oakland. Yeah, were looking at about 20 to even 30 minutes its a really short stretches well, so on it is definitely a slow and a lot of folks down as theyre taking a look and if youre traveling on the southbound side youre going to see it slowing through the open side and then getting to 38. Thank you for joining us this morning a breaking news is out of oakland where at this point firefighters are responding to it has been described as a 3 alarm fire a warehouse apparently burning now on 11th. Right near 23th 25th avenue in oakland that is east oakland east 11th between 25th and 23th, which is just north. Of the nimitz freeway and we heard from the community that was traveling through the area lori hail and she spotted in started recording the smoke and the flames, its definitely visible for folks driving through the area because its right next to the nimitz so this is also impacting your morning commute and the smoke could be seen for miles around some of the latest pictures that were seeing online show firefighters on scene. Using a ladder trucks are trying to spray water down on to the roof of this warehouse from above we had one viewer sir estimate that maybe this was a this the print shop that was on fire. And there is that print shop anger 11 so screening unconfirmed, yet if thats the actual facility thats on fire. But it is right across the street from a cluster of residential homes. We havent heard about any evacuations, but firefighters are there and well keep you updated if they do issue any sort of Evacuation Order will let you know,
