Caused a collision with four other vehicles. Police say the 52yearold man from oakland was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes just before 5 00 this morning. Several cars then tried to avoid crashing into the wrongway driver. But that caused a huge pileup. The wrongway driver was taken to the hospital where he died. Only one other driver involved in the crash had minor injuries. I talked with her husband this evening. They are staying in the hospital under observtion. This accident happened directly behind me. The crash was actually caught on surveillance video. Watch the upper left hand part of your screen as a driver slows to make a left hand turn. A volkswagon then slows down but the Chevy Silverado behind that car is going so fast it just slams into the volkswagon, sending it into oncoming traffic before slamming into the school bus. Chp officers tell us there were two serious injuries. Those came from folks who were not on the bus. The witness we talked with said the kids were fine but the bus driver was a bit shaken after the ordeal. Here is what he told her.
