Progress on some of the massive wildfires burning in the north bay. Here are a look at the latest numbers. The atlas fire in napa and solano counties has burned more 48thousand acres and is 45percent contained. The nuns fire in Sonoma County has burned more than 46thousand acres and is 10 percent contained. The tubbs fire in napa county has burned over 35 thousand acres and is 44 percent contained. It shows the major fires in wine country. If it is shaded in red. That means there is an evacuation order. The red crisscrossed lines indicate where fires have burned or are currently active. The nuns fire which is at the bottom of the map started as four fires which have merged together. The tubbs is near calistoga with santa rosa to the south. The pocket fire is to the north. It is near geyserville. grant tonight parts of northern Sonoma County are under a new evacuation advisory order. Hours ago many residents in the healdsburg area were mandated to leave their homes. Kron4s Hermela Aregawi is live in geyserville with the latest on the evacuation advisories. Hermela . Vothe tubbs fire has burned through more than 34thousand acres. The pocket fire significantly smaller has burned through nearly 10 thousand acres. The entire town of geyserville is under an advisory. But starting back there just east of me. Residents have been told to get out. The wind is expected to pick up so the concern is that conditions are going to get a lot more dangerous. And the fire that we saw up there in the hills is going to spread. People that live around here tell me in the last day or so the smoke in the hills of healdsburg had died down but today its been picking up. Around 4 oclock this after noon. The Sonoma County Sheriffs Office issued a mandatory evacuation for parts of geyserville and healdsberg. A lot of people left their homes. And some are nearby under an advisory. Concerned that with winds expected to pick up. They may be next for evacuationwe spoke to Geyserville Fire Department officials. And they tell us it is difficult to keep up with this fire. Its breathtaking when youre in the middle of a storm like that and you know people arent getting out and its actually heartbreaking and we were just in awe in the immense speed of it but the main concern has been the wind. The wind driven and the red flag warnings make it so that we cant keep up with it. And then the embers grow and its so dry it just starts in other spots. A lot of the people around here in geyserville are under that advisory. They say its hard to sleep at night because theyre worried that fire may spread quickly. And that they wont have time leave safely. But many of them already packed and ready to go just in case. Coming up at 10. Were hear from more residents that say they have been living in fear the last several days. Worried that theyre lose everything if the wind changes direction. Theyve been forced to share this small room since losing their home on carraige lane in the wikiup neighborhood of santa rosa to the tubbs fire. Sot krystal mcalvain, escaped fire by the time i had gotten to the car and was pulling out the flames were coming back over the hill behind out house and so as we were driving away thats what i saw in my rear view mirror. Doing their best to produce wine. He says most of it was barreled up before the fires. And, that the smoke hasnt affected the grapes. There is major destruction here as youve seen from our coverage throughout the week. But not everything at journeys end is a total loss. I spoke with a man who lives here, who actually helped save part of the mobile home park. Hes a former firefighter, and noticed the back side of the park could still be salvaged, if only he could get help or a hose from active firefighters, which they gave him. sot he got me three more guys, they went down on the other end, they worked their butts off, they saved that whole side, all the homes on that side. Some of these people havent come back yet because they think their homes are burned down. Theyre still there we dont know how to tell them. vo homes still standing7 sahara street backside facing kaiser from one end to the other is untouched7 across the street from that, going back almost all the way to the laundry room is saved, though there are a few lost. 7 thanks to firefighters, and a journeys end resident who wasnt ready to give up. Insurance needs to step up, needs to be here. Federal agencies and state agencies need to be here for the long run. That means we need to be there for the community. Officials say some areas of unicorporated Sonoma County aanearaa the city of healdsburg are under a mandatory evacution. But that does not include the actual city of healdsburg. Were told parts of healdsburg are under an evacuation advisory. Which is a warning to residents to be ready to leave at a moments notice. Again. The city of healdsburg is not under a mandatory evacuation order, but as you know that could change if this fire continues to spread. grant one family who lost their home in the tubbs family is on a quest. They are searching for the Police Officers that rushed into their burning home and saved them in the early morning. Take a look. Matthew mcdermott was driving around to find escape routes as multiple fires closed in on his area. pam while noting which roads were accessible, he came across a tree that appeared to have been hollowed out by embers and flames.
