I will show that to you when the sun comes up but you may be able to make out in the distance, there is still smoke coming from this home. Will, on this third day that we are waking up with this situation, do i feel its any better . Worse . The same . What is your feeling on the scene where you are . Reporter this is about as bad as i have seen it. The first time we covered the Mobile Home Park, some homes were standing. Most of the park that we were reporting from, the homes were still there. But this you do not see, this reminds me of the tahoe fire 10 years ago, it almost looks like a moon escape, nothing is standing. Thank you will, we will go back to you for updates throughout the morning. We have liddy in sonoma along highway 12 where that area is being told, you need to be ready to go at any moment. People are worried. Behind me you see highway 12. People are being told to be ready to leave. Here with me i have bob, he lives in this area, tell me what information q1c b you receive yesterday . Yesterday very little but 12 30 this morning, i got two notice on my phone, one said that there is a press conference at 9 00 and the second was that there are recommendations that people in this area pack a bag and get ready to go, there are mandatory evacuations on the hill. Reporter are you ready to go . I am. Reporter your family is at home and you are driving around. He wants more information, he does not know where the fires have burned in sonoma, he is trying to get as much information as he can. I have been off work for two days, nothing is happening, i want to keep my job, also i am just trying to plan my life. I do not want to go too far away if we are evacuated. Reporter what is your plan if they say its time to go. We pack up and go south. Reporter thank you so much. People here wanting to know what is burning, how close it is, i told him that the winds are picking up today and tomorrow. So people are very worried here. This is the second person that has stopped by in the last few minutes, people are concerned and trying to figure out what is going on. I have seen some deputies going by here, we will try to flag them down and ask more questions. People are stopping and flagging you down because a lot of these people do not have power, they cannot shower, cell phone use is spotty, if at all. Reporter its completely dark, a lot of people do not have electric. They have been living like this for a bit. They are wondering when and if to get out. People do not want to leave too early because of the concerns about looting. I do not know if its ever too early when you see the videos. We have some of that for you, this is Sonoma County, this was a sheriffs deyou peut driving along and look at this fire storm he is driving into as he tries to get the word out to people that they need to evacuate immediately. This road takes you to safari west. This is what they are trying to avoid. I hear stories, people are talking about how they left, especially from santa rosa, they said they were driving through this, this is regular people, going through fire balls on both sides, like a tunnel the fire, they do not want people to have to escape flames like this again. They are trying to get people to evacuate if its time to go, they do not want to repeat this for people. We will be back with more in a few minutes big news from advil, advil liquigels minis. Our first concentrated pill that rushes powerful relief. A small new size thats fast, cause its liquid. Woohoo youll ask, what pain . New advil liquigels minis. We are going to see if its another day of no sports practicing because of smoke in the air, dave has the weather for us. Less check the humidity levels, for toed they are dropping off. Thats not unusual during the day, they drop off because of the heating and the temperatures are warmer but at night they should climb, they do not. They stay low overnight. The drier air will be returning tonight. We are talking about cooler and breezy to start. Red flag warning kicks in this evening, we have dry fire conditions for the weekend and a slight climb in the temperatures, during the day today, a little breezy, by 6 00 it starts to really pickup. Solano to napa, notice the east bay, this is the return of the off shore winds, not as heavy as sunday night but more windy than last night. What is going on in the north bay . 78 for petaluma and novato. 75 for vallejo. At least temperatures are lower but the air in the north bay is unhealthy. Thats a given with all of this. Elsewhere, unhealthy for sensitive groups, right now lets check the traffic. Tracking a major bart delay, they are having switching issues, tracking a major dhai from sfo to south San Francisco and pittsburg bay point. Make sure you plan ahead. Meanwhile traffic continues to fill in, at the bay bridge toll plaza, not bad but slug ish. Under 15 minutes in. We have more drive times coming up in a bit. Back to our breaking news this morning. The fires that are ravaging the north bay, we were in a neighborhood yesterday with will. Everyone got out because they told them it was smoky and the fires were moving in. Now we are there and it looks like they are going to see those flames there. Luckily everyone is out, right . Reporter yes, there is nobody there. I am on summer field road and nobody is here, everything is evacuated. As you got here i spoke to the police officers, they said i was allowed in at my own risk, they said if you go up these roads, there may not be any First Responders that can help if needed. Right now these homes are safe, they are untouched by the fire that started close to here and is now to the east of me, you can tell its close because you can feel it and smell it. The area is completely evacuated. Right now the homes are safe. People have been asking us if their homes are safe, they are but we do not know what is going to happen in the next few hours or next few days. Thank you, word that homes are Still Standing is just as valuable and important as reporting on where the homes have burned to the ground. The terrible thing is they are discovering more people have died in the flames, we were talking about how they were not able to get into a lot of areas, we have so many people missing and unaccounted for. We saw the death toll going up from 10 to 12, now this morning, 16 people have died in the fires in the north pay. The Sonoma CountyEmergency Office has released the names of the streets where the victims of the fires were found. Two victims were found on angela drive, two more on lashing west road. In santa rosa, victims were found on coffey park lane and Crystal Court then in santa rosa, a body was found on he ml ock street and one victim was found on Mountain Ranch road. Fire officials expect the death toll to rise, they are just beginning to go back into the areas where people were trying to escape the flames that were running after them on all sides. We showed the sheriffs video. We have heard stories of the elderly that could not get out of their homes, these are the streets and we are saying that because again, they cannot positively identify the bodies, they just want people to know where the bodies were found. This is video from marks west springs road. Cardinal Newman High School is in that area, we are back this just a minute welcome back to the kron four morning news where the fires in the north bay continue to rage out of control. This is video from last night from the oakmont neighborhood. People have been told to get out. Heres a rekawp of the fires in the north bay and the sad story to report is the death toll has risen, its now at 16 with 2,000 buildings damaged or destroyed and both of those numbers are expected to continue to climb here as we continue to battle this fire across the north pay, with all of the people in shelters and all of the confusion, there are many who are not accounted for, that number has gone up. 183 people are reported missing in Sonoma County, there are 14 separate fires burning throughout napa and sonoma counties, they have burned 115,000acres, firefighters are struggling to get new containment this morning on day three of the fires, there are several mandatory Evacuation Orders for parts of sonoma, lets go through the streets effected by this. People who live between 1922 and the Russian River and people on nutter road, river road, ridge oaks road. Vineyard road, wood bridge road and rock mouth road, those Evacuation Orders also include deer path drive and lakewood lane, if you are on those streets you are being asked to pack up and leave. Further south. People who live on Moon Mountain road, mission way, london way, martin road, and adobe way are ordered to evacuate. Also people who live near madron road. They have not been ordered to evacuate. No mandatory evacuations for these people but officials are recommending that if you little along highway 12, have your bags pack spd be prepared to and be prepared to leave at a moments notice. They want you to be ready. There is a new area under mandatory Evacuation Orders this morning. This is for calistoga. Cal fire said everyone leaving north of grant street must leave their homes right now. Everyone else in calisto dprks a are under a advisory alert. Be ready. People living north of grant street are under mandatory evacuation, get out of the city, you can use silverado trail south to zinfandel lane then west to state route 29 and then south from there or you can get out of the city using sate route route 29 south, lot of people under the Evacuation Orders are trying to leave, they do not have Cell Phone Service and power, its difficult to get communication, if you are wask and you are friends and family there, we want you to call and talk to your friends and get messages through to them. We have Team Coverage, our reporters are out in these communities, we are going out live in a minute to update you on the status, what neighborhoods are burned. We have some maps to show you, lets go down the list of the areas burning right now. Lets start with the nuns fire. This is in Sonoma County, it has burned 5,000acres and its 1 contained. This is burning out of control. Also with this fire, its near highway 12 north of glen ellen 10 miles east of santa rosa, the Sugar Loaf Ridge state park and the rain Regional Park is there. Then the tubbs fire, this is the most destructive so far, it started north and burned paf safari west and into santa rosa, this is the one that jumped highway 101, its now burned 28,000 rakers, no containment yet this morning. 571 structures have been destroyed just in this fire, 16,000 other structures are threatened this morning, thats the massive fire we are following in santa rosa. Now less look at the outline of this. This is the atlas fire, everything inside that bright red or pink line is where cal fire said the fire has spread. This is off of at lat peak road as far north as the vin yars near the black stal yoin winery, so far this fire, inside of this area, 25 thoi acres and 125,000 buildings have been destroyed. Black stallion winery, 25,000acres and 125,000 buildings have been destroyed. Right now, the latest information from cal fire shows that this fire has burned 6,000 acres and is 1 contained. 5,000 buildings are threatened by the fire as we speak. We still seeing a lot of smoke in the bay area, closer to San Francisco because of the fires, a lot of people are wondering about that, we will get to traffic in a minute but first less talk about the direction of the wind. Now the wind is coming from the north and the north east. Thats where the strong winder will come from. Thats going to blow more smoke into the greater bay area, the last check with the winds, we have arrows points from the west, fairfield and then from the north at napa. You can see this front is right in our back yard. On the backside, it passes, thats when the wind shift is in place, we are in the mid 50s in the east bay, 40s in the north bay, at least we have cooler weather. Elsewhere in the inlying areas, temperatures are not much different, is a spare the air day, smoke from the fires today. Unhealthy air quality in the north bay, elsewhere, unhealthy for sensitive groups, the smoke is going to be blown back to the cities of the bay, the red flag warning kicks in at 5 00 p. M. Today through 5 00 p. M. Thursday, checking the bay area traffic, how are we doing there . We have a bart delay as they recover from switching and equipment problems, 15 to 30 minutes delay, expect delays from sfo to south San Francisco. Plan ahead. Meanwhile the bridges are filling in. Traffic is slow at the bay bridge toll plaza. Its backed up beyond the 880 overcrossing and clawing up the eastern sparn to the tunnel. Span to the tunnel, its a pretty good ride into the north pay, six minutes from the tolls to 101. Lets get back to our Team Coverage, will is live in the Fountain Grove neighborhood in santa rosa, we talk about the new evacuation oordz. When people see the devastation, they know what they are running from. These people had to run, the flames were intense, a lot of people we spoke to yesterday were not told to evacuate but they knew to evacuate because the fires were quickly racing to their homes, this is doverton place, this is 3751 doverton place, its decimated. This is just a snapshot of everything i see in this neighborhood. Two cars here, they look like high end cars and they are burned to the ground. The windows are blown out and the tires are gone. Rims are melted. In the distance beyond the two cars you can see that used to be the kitchen area, you can see it here, i see fumes still in this area going from the right to the left of the screen, that used to be the kitchen area, these are high end homes, you talked about this, the fire does not discriminate, these are high end homes, we had mobile homes monday and high end homes towd. This is the worst i have seen it in the three days i have covered this fire, this arch is the only thing Still Standing from this house, many other homes have their arches standing as well. In a Perfect World before the fire, you could not see from one plok to the next, these are high, tall homes but because of the fire, i can see from one block to the next. Visibility is not too bad today but you are unobstructed. You can see a lot of everything has been knocked down, they have kept people away from this area, can you see that there is a street sign in the distance. Many street signs are now white, they used to be green but now they are white because they have been charred so badly. We wept through four check points to get to this location. They do not want anybody here, first, because there could be a flare up again, do not get in the way of First Responders also they think its too dangerous for people to be here. If you want to ask me how are things personally, it smells bad, it does not smell like wood burning, you can smell the fumes from the car, the bricks, it has a unique smell to it. I have been covering wild fires for a long time, we knee what a camp fire smells like, it does not smell like that, it smells like a chemical factory caught on fire. This was the scene yesterday in santa rosa, you can see the fire burning on the ridge line in the distance. People in this neighborhood were allowed back in the area to rescue their animals, many people were forced to leave before they had a chance to grab their pets. They were allowed back to the community to collect their animals but then they got back out. They got the animals out and the people are out of that area, i you can see why with the fire burning and the ridge on top of the mountain. We back in a few minutes. As the devastating wild fires continue in the north bay, kron four will continue with regular updates and will interrupt programming as events warrant. Stay with kron four and the kron four mobile app and we covered it, july first, twentyfifteen. Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two because weve seen a thing or two. We are farmers. Bumpadum, bumbumbumbum welcome back, checking on bart. They are recovering from equipment problems and switching problems, still reporting a major delay but it look like the problems have been fixed. 20 minute delays from all San Francisco stations to pittsburg bay point. Plan ahead. Bay bridge stacked up from the maze. Golden gate bridge still looking good. Lets go back to sonoma along highway 12 where they are being told to evacuate and also to be ready at any moment. Reporter this is the most light that i have seen in this area, its darkness because the electric is out and the streets this this area, behind me, you see highway 12, i am on highway 12, if you live near madron you are being asked to pack up and be ready to leave at a moments notice, i spoke to a few people a few minutes ago, they are ready to go, some people are telling me that their families are gone, they are staying inside of their homes because they do not want looting. There are also mandatory evacuations, if you not gone, you need to leave as soon as possible. Moon Mountain Road in sonoma, mission way, london way, martin road and adobe way, i have seen a lot of people driving through this area, they tried to turn at highway 12 but can you not go anywhere after madron. If you are trying to get to santa rosa through there, there is no access. Some people are waiting on Evacuation Orders and are also trying to get to work. We will bring you more details as they become available. Thank you lydia. One of my doctors offices is in novato, they said because of the fire, we short staffed of the a lot of people are trying to get to work and they cannot, they have been evacuated or they are not showing up. There are ripple effects throughout the bay area, heres video we can share with you, this is the fewer burning in coffey park, this neighborhood was decimated. We have shown you the after pictures of the neighborhood, left in ashes, this is what is looked like monday morning as the fire was raging and races through that suburb and community in santa rosa, we getting more pictures each and every day, this is a barbecue gill and the rest of the house is gone unlike ordinary toothpaste colgate total. Fights bacteria on teeth, tongue, cheeks and gums for a healthier mouth. So youre totally ready. Colgate total. Be totally ready for life. We are back, we have robin checking the roads for us this morning, i know in the north bay they have some evacuations underway, any major closures that people need to know. I will double check 101, i heard about a closure but i will check on that. I know that the airport on and off ramps are closed. How about the rest of the bay. We have bart delays but no major traffic issues, bart is recovering from an equipment problem, they are reporting a major delay, up to 20 minutes from all San Francisco stations heading to pittsburg bay point. Now a straight 10 minute delay on mill bright we have an early back up on to 580 and its spilling on to the east shore freeway, but no big problems heading into downtown San Francisco. Checking on the san mateo bridge, it looks pretty good heading into foster city and san mateo. Switching to traffic tracker, a look at how four, its increasing, your drive times just bumped up to 25 minutes, thats not bad. 680 dublin to fremont ench averaging 20 minutes, more drive times coming up in a bit. Thank you, good morning everyone, we will start off with the winds and what they are forecast today throughout the day today. We have breezy conditions, we banking off the warm moist atmosphere, the winds will shift, we have a red flag warning in effect at 5 00 this eerng. We may see it spike, you see Solano County and hit hard. Not as hard for Sonoma County this go around. The heavy winds are all that we have. The winds are in the far east bay and the northern part of the east bay, then at 2 00 a. M. We are left with breezy conditions. The humidity has increased a bit this morning, as we go through the day today it drops, thats typical with the daytime heating. The humidity levels tend to fall. Throughout the night they should rice but they do rise but they do not. We are looking for a dry night. Add with it the winds and we have a problem again. Checking into the east bay, 69 for oakland and the inland spots in the 70s, we have taken the 90s and 80s out of the forecast. We have some relief from the front in our back yard. San francisco, you are looking at 65, 67 in the Mission District but with the winds the smoke will be blowing down here. The coast in the lower 60s. Up to the north bay, relief temperature wise, 78 for petaluma and napa. Sonoma 78. We have the weekend forecast, a slight increase into the end of the weekend and early next week. Thank you dave. Back ;yd [to the breaking news wild fires that have been ravaging the north bay continue this morning, we are going from neighborhood to neighborhood looking at the damage, this is in napa. This is along atlas peak road. Here are some homes standing in the silverado crest neighborhood. Many homes are destroyed but some have been left untouched. There is one home where ohm the front yard burned down. Then next next door, the neighbors house is gone, there is a golf course, the silverado resort and spa, Beautiful Homes looking down over the napa valley. Not a beautiful sight this morning. The whole community is des decimated. We have cardinal Newman High School burned. Classes are suspended, the big question now, we are only two months into the school year, they are going to have to find another place to put the kids. Also the teachers, where do they go. Loss of issues for that high school and a lot of other schools in the area dealing with the major disruption that the fires have caused. We are taking a break and we are back with more as we continue to follow the latest with the fires ravageing l valleys and sonoma coming up1÷2 moment is our continuing coverage resumes.
