Steve aveson is working that angle of our story in the news room. steve the shooter had no background connecting him to hate groups or past criminal activity and early claims of connection somehow to isis or any Terror Organization have been quickly discounted by the fbi. No easy conclusions for a motive in this shooting but we a learning some things, heres what we know so far. Stephen paddock lived 82 miles from las vegas in a 55 and older Retirement Community that the former accountant had moved to from florida several years ago. During this visit, the frequent gambler who regularly played 100 a hand games of poker he had checked into the Mandalay Bay Hotel 4 days ago into his room on the 32nd floor. The shooter had a girlfriend from the philippines, and though some identification from that woman was found in the room, investigators say that she was out of the country at the time of the shooting. Though not a person of interest, authoritiesa are naturally interested in speaking to her and learning more about his thinking in recent weeks. Despite encountering a cache of weapons in the hotel room that police say suggested a well planned attack, the shooters brother, who lives in florida and had helped move him to nevada, said that his brother had no extensive history with guns. But investigators have tracked some of his purchases. Police found numerous automatic weapons both on site at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, and at the mesquite home of Stephen Paddock and from what we know so far, those weapons were all legally acquired. And paddock had no criminal history whatsoever. One additional detail gaining attention across the country is this the shooter was the son of a man formerly listed on the fbis most wanted list. Though estranged from his father who is now deceased, Benjamin Hoskins spent 8 years on the most wanted list for bank robbery. The man was described as pathological with suicidal tendencies. vicki our coverage of this tragic story continues online at kron4 dot com.
