Kron 4s Charles Clifford talked to the National Weather Service Today about the impact the el nino is having. Charles according to the National Weather service, when theres an el nino along the equator in the pacific, there are usually more hurricanes and tropical storms than normal in the eastern pacific. The current el nino formed last winter and has been getting stronger ever since. So far in 2015, there have been 4 hurricanes compared to just 2 by this time last year. most of the action is in southern california. Charles currently, what remains of hurricane dolores is bringing wild storms to southern and Central California and hot muggy weather to the bay area. But the el nino is probably only partly to blame. Hurricane dolores actually merged with monsoons that visit southwest every july and august. the moisture is combining with the monsoon weather pattern. And is bringing showers into south caresouthern california and Central California charles as for the unusual animal behavior witnessed along the weeks, the Weather Service doesnt know if its because of el nino but they do say more summer time moisture is possible. we are definetly going to be watching the pacific to see if theres any more developments catherine the battle over Public Access to Martins Beach has been in and out of court in recent years.
