North Carolina remains perfect in the Chris Gray and Will Bowen era, but freshman goalie Collin Krieg stole the show on Thursday night in the Tar Heels’ 16-13 victory at No. 8 Virginia.
It was a cathartic night of college lacrosse action a year removed from the moment when everything was ripped away in a perfect atmosphere at Klockner Stadium with limited — but boisterous on the broadcast — fans in attendance.
“I talked to [Virginia coach] Lars [Tiffany] before the game and was like, you know it’s a sigh of relief that we’re back at it after one year ago when things started to go haywire,” North Carolina coach Joe Breschi said. “We’re so happy for the student-athletes, continuing to remind them that it’s special to be out there because you never know when it can be taken away. Tonight was another reminder.”
