Krave Beauty, one of our favorite Korean skincare brands, has officially discontinued the beloved Beet The Sun sunscreen, also known as The Beet Shield in the United States indefinitely. The brand's founder Liah Yoo posted a video and a note to Instagram on April 12 with the full explanation.
Sunscreen testing in the U.S. specifically has been a hot topic among skin care aficionados as of late, but it's also an exceptionally complex one. “At the end of last year, it was revealed that a number of manufacturers and independent testing labs have produced faulty results that do not match the product SPF claims,” Krave Beauty wrote in a statement on its Instagram. “With that, several Korea-based skincare companies pulled their sunscreens in response to testing that showed their SPF ratings were not accurate.”
