I suppose what many people are wonding is not so much why this photo was photoshopped more what it tells us about the trust between the palace and the press and whether or not this has affected that level of trust. Caroline the interesting point here is how did Kensington Palace let that image get out to the agencies that were then forced to kill it. To me it underlines the absolutely crucial importance today of having someone really tech savvy working in royal press offenses offices that can pick up a problem like that before it becomes a problem, or advise that there be a more Immediate Response to what the princess has said the confusion. What was meant to be a genuine heartfelt attempt, i think, to douse the flames of conspiracy that have been rife on x and the internet that has grown into throwing a can of petrol on them. What can you trust today . Of course the agencies are subject to stringent regulations that they do examine images because of how artificial intelligence, fake news, is out there altering things. They have to be so very careful. And i have to say i think the princesss attempt at perhaps rather amateurish photo shopping have become a casualty of this. It is just not normal for the five big News Agencies to kill that photo. Caroline maybe not normal, but i repeat, they are subject to the most stringent regulations. You can imagine if they let some absolutely fake photograph go and it went throughout the world, the kickback there could be from that. So there is great care taken. He gives them a real figurehead in parliament, a sense that it is part possible to be a reform u. K. Mp. They have also said that they will do everything they can to get him reelected. And when you look at the ashfield constituency, it is not implausible that that could happen in a general election. Far from guaranteed but with someone of his profile will have some voters behind him, almost certainly. And the second part is what this means for the conservative party. They have been quick today to suggest that reform u. K. Are not the answer. They say that voting for reform u. K. Will let the labour party in. And a number of conservative mp was have been very critical. Some who have previously always liked lee anderson and got on well with him and do not like what he has done today. Others who perhaps have always been a bit uncomfortable about some of the things that he has said. But there is a sense that lee anderson speaks to some of their voters. And a sense that that kind of coalition of voters the conservative party brought together in 2019 in some ways is cracking. You saw that with the rightwing wing group of conservative mps, the new conservatives, who used this as an opportunity to lay the blame squarely at the conservative party themselves. This suggestion that the coervative party needs to be more right wing to win over those types of voters. From t conservative partys point of view, they have recently lost byelections to the labour party and the liberal democrats. They are now losing an mp to the right, perhaps to reform u. K. And that makes it difficult for rishi sunak to navigate a course, and it might make him tempted to move towards the right wing, but he has got to be aware that they are losing voters in other directions too.
