The pooh so much . After the war there was so much sadness. Then winnie the pooh came along and happiness came out. Goodbye christopher robin, rated pg. In select theaters friday. Now bbc world news. This is bbc world news america reporting live from washington. President trump announces he will decertify the Iran Nuclear Deal. Calling for a fix from congress. Rose mcgowan the latest actress to say she was attacked by Harvey Weinstein as the scandal deepens Hillary Clinton speaks to the bbc. It was disgusting and the stories that have come out are heartbreaking. They were the american women who helped secure victory in world war ii. Decades later the story of these codebreakers may finally be told. Welcome to world news america. President trump called the Iran Nuclear Deal one of the worst deals ever struck. Today he tried to do something about it. He called for quick action at the floor. He said he will scrap the agreement altogether. U. S. Allies were quick to derive this bid we begin the coverage. This is one of the worst deals ever made by any country in history. My number one priority is to dismantle the disastrous deal with iran. There should be no surprise that the president is doing what he is doing. He has made his distaste clear of the Iran Nuclear Deal is that at every opportunity. A simple remedy is tough. He refused to recertify it. My administration is working closely with congress and our allies to address the many serious flaws to that the Iranian Regime can never threaten the world with nuclear weapons. In the event we are not able to reach a solution with congress and our allies than the agreement will be terminated. He wants congress to address tough new measures. He wants them to include triggers that could see sanctions reimposed if iran violates the deal. If they are still not in compliance the u. S. Could withdraw from that accord without congressional action. In his previous life he was a builder now he prefers the wrecking ball particularly on anything that is a legacy from the obama era. With immigration, Climate Change and now iran. He wants to break it up, he says it is up for congress to fix it. The original deal was negotiated with a number of countries. This evening the other partners have reacted with dismay, and anger to his statement. It is not a Bilateral Agreement. It does not belong to any single country. It is not up to any single country to eliminate. The president of the United States may not have this one. There has been condemnation from the president of iran in a strikingly similar point. Trump did not Study International law. How is it that a multilateral treaty adopted by the nations originally the United Nations document cannot be canceled by one president alone. Trump does not know that this is not a Bilateral Agreement between iran and the United States. He seems to think he can do whatever he wants to do. The president has Given Congress 60 days to come up with a plan. Lawmakers have disagreed with how to fix health care. It is unclear if they will do any better with the Iran Nuclear Deal. Joining us now is a reporter who served as the middle east advisor. Thank you very much for joining us. Dismay from many of americas allies strong words from the eu. Can the president actually terminate this deal . What are the consequences of this . He cannot terminate the deal. He can terminate the United States involvement. If he does it without satisfying at least some of the other members of the Security Council who negotiated along with us then you end up isolating the United States as opposed to iran. When you look at what he had to say in his speech he focused very heavily on what he sees in the region of iran. He is focused heavily on their support for terrorism which is their involvement against american targets. He can certainly act against that. He wants to put the bad behavior on them not ours. One of the things he is not walking away from is turning it over to congress and also our allies to discuss the fix is to make it clear you dont want me withdraw. Give me some reasons to stay in the deal. Then i can do so. He is obviously trying to save the deal as leverage for congress and our allies. You have extensive experience in the region. Do you see this as a good thing . In the region itself it will probably be appreciated. Many of the arab leaders they view iran as a predatory state trying to seek a hegemony. Israel is the same way. From a narrow perspective there will be a support at least with what is going on. The real question is are you better off without the deal . Or are there better ways to deal with the flaws in it. Key limitations on the iranian deal with uranium enrichment related to plutonium separation have limitations that expire in 2030. One other things to think about is what could be done to make it more likely that the iranians would respect the continuation of those limitations. Would you say the reactions we have seen from the european allies charting anything that will be available . It is going to be a bumpy path. It will not be simple to do this. The iranians will not be inert. They are not the ones ready to deal the americans are. They will try very hard to separate the members of this created so that they are not the ones who are alone. The challenge for american diplomacy is to create more of a common front. To produce the iranian readiness at the deal. When they said they would never negotiate when they were under sanctions. We tripled down on those sanctions and then they negotiated that was a function , of us creating a united front. The challenge for american diplomacy now is finding a way to keep others on board and to agree this is the right way to proceed. You probably need a different kind of platform that you are not going to be renegotiated the deal. Ambassador, thank you very much. The fallout surrounding Harvey Weinstein continues. Actress rose mcgowan is the latest with allegations against the media mogul accusing him of rape. Commentedinton commending those who came forward. Say this kind of behavior is appalling and should not be tolerated anywhere. Mr. Weinstein denies the allegations. We have the latest. On facebook he said after looking at what has been recorded in many publications over the last few days i am appalled and commended the courage of those who step forward. I therefore recuse myself from the guantanamo series as well as the Weinstein Company is involved. Longtime political friends are now distancing themselves from the democratic fundraiser. Hillary clinton speaking with the bbc. It was just disgusting. The stories that have come out are heartbreaking. I really commend the women who have been willing to step forward and tell their stories. I think it is important that we not only focus on him and whatever came from the stories of his behavior. We recognize that this kind of behavior cannot be tolerated anywhere. The show must go on. It was light cameras action at this premier in new york last night. Many women like the british actress Carey Mulligan hope this will be a watershed moment in what is still a maledominated business. Women have opportunities behind the camera and in front of the camera. I think it is about the industry catching up with women can be in these roles. Harvey weinstein has denied any allegation of the consensual nonconsensual sex. He is now believed to be in a rehab facility. Therece the story broke has been a lot of focus on the entertainment industry. With a idea of a casting couch made seem to be a relic. Many women say Sexual Harassment is right. That is the price you pay. We have this report from hollywood. The conversation on the red carpet of hollywood has changed. Tough questions are being asked about the culture of the industry. Some are still unwilling to come up with answers. This is what happened when i asked about Harvey Weinstein. How does hollywood heal from this . We are going to pass on that one. Picturetar of the worked with Harvey Weinstein. I am told that my microphone is not allowed near her. It worries hollywood warming up ahead of their big scenes. Some of those started in a career face its location has become the price they have to pay to be part of the industry. With music and movies it is all about who you know and what you are willing to do. Listen to what goes to the mind of this young actress before a audition. Before you step into the room you need to have the right look. I dont have that. What if they asked me to do that . I cant do that. Maybe i should not go. Crazy but that is literally the conversation that goes on. Does it not depress you . It is horrible. That is the way it is and there is nothing i can do about it. The Organization Women and phil has set up a hotline to report abuse. The idea in hollywood which has become so customary that if you are uncomfortable and you speak up and say the situation is uncomfortable you are basically asked to leave. You are given money and then you disclosurekind of non agreement. When i get angry about is that they feel like they deserve to be treated this way. This systemic sexism may come as no surprise to people here. Many believe this is a tipping point. Can the industry now reform itself from within . Takingll mean more women a powerful positions behind the scenes. That may be the only way to this casting couch culture will change. Hollywood being forced to look at itself from a new angle. It may not like what it sees. In a update to the California Wildfires that we reported on this week. At least 31 people have been killed and hundreds are still missing. The blazes are no recorded as the most deadly and the states history. There are more the 20 fires and weather conditions have not been in their favor. You are watching bbc world news america. A step forward not towards violence. Among the best kept secrets of world war ii is the story of women. They joined the army and navy as codebreakers. They attack the enemy with their brains by translating encrypted japanese and german notary plans to helping the american stay one step ahead. I spoke with the author of code girls. Who are they . They are more than 10,000 american women who left their smalltown schools where they were teaching, their colleges during world war ii and they came to washington and they ran a massive code breaking operation that remained secret for up until now. How crucial was their work to the war effort . It was absolutely crucial to the war. After it was calculated that the code breaking during world war ii shortned the war by two years. It saved thousands of lives. It is impossible to estimate how many. World war ii was a war of signals. It was a war where armies and navies were spread out all over the globe. Commanders and politicians were communicating radio signals. They were encrypted signals. We were all trying to eavesdrop on each other. It was primarily women doing that. 10,000 women from across the United States, how were they chosen . Many were secretly recruited from colleges. The army and navy were actively recruiting them. Competing for their talent. They were summoned to secret meetings. In which they were asked if you liked puzzles and are you engaged . The answer to the first was yes and the answer to the second was no. Often they were also hired by the government in situations where they did not know what they were signing up to do. They were sent to washington and told to be absolutely secret about what they were doing and if anyone asked what they were doing they were to say they sharpened pencils and empty wastebaskets. Because they were women people believe that. They were sworn to secrecy. How did the story come to light . I was talking to historians attached to the nsa which is our big eavesdropping and surveillance agency. It came out of these wartime code breaking efforts. This was early hacking an early surveillance. It was women who were doing this. I was talking to some female historians who laid out this whole story and to my surprise i was able to find 20 living women who had done that effort. I now know many more. I am being contacted sometimes by the women themselves because they were code girls then and they are online now. They can find me on facebook and twitter. What are they doing now . They are looking forward to getting credit for their work. Some of them are still living in their homes and they have incredibly vivid memories of living in washington. They are also remembering how to code and decode. I have had women do the math and show me the math that they did. They were essentially decrypting encrypted messages. They were doing it with a lotof math but also a lot of language skills. A lot of them still remember how to do it. Fascinating stuff. Thank you for having me.
