All right, we started out with fog, and it sounds like things are going to get a little bit warmer a little later, but not tomorrow. The headline in the forecast is wednesday and thursday when we go back to the 90s inland. There will be a speak in heat. Wont last long. But before we get there, theres another small chance of rain in the north bay tomorrow. Before that, maybe fog up there. Let me show you why. Look at the play back on the time lapse from earlier today. This was from the top of the mark hopkins hotel. You can see the bump in the clouds there. Like a speed bump. But this shows us the marine layer is so low, it was hitting alcatraz. High pressure today pushing it down. Temperatures a little above average today. Tomorrow they fall back down just a bit for daytime highs. But before we get to that, the fog is starting to build back in. The marine layer filling in the immediate bay. Skipping ahead, well look at the numbers. The lower the number, the more likely you might encounter fog on the road tomorrow. We had a dense fog advisory this morning. Tomorrow you could be down to four tenths of a mile, meaning thats as far down the road you could see. The city had an issue this morning, so did the coast. Monday morning, be aware. Maybe a little fog in the trouble spots. But after that, the marine layer is gone. It will just be the high clouds, and a relatively cool day compared to today. Those are tomorrows daytime highs thanks to a weak cold front that will try and bring us rain tomorrow. And watch how the temperatures transition through the week. After a cold front tomorrow, we advance to thursday back in the low 90s. You can pick out your part of the bay, but its the inland locations for 90s. Wednesday should be grouped in with this because both days are similar. Thursday is technically the warmer day, but wednesday is the day when we do the jump, and probably the day you notice the warm up. But look where well be by the weekend. Lets take it from thursday and advance to saturday. We bring in a whole different color scheme. Were all the way back down into the low 70s, and theres another 10 chance of rain with that. More on that later. Heres the one for tomorrow. See the little rain out there. Storm already getting developed, about to drive. A pretty powerful storm into the pacific northwest. We just get this southern Little Branch of it right there. Thats on, thats tomorrow. And that looks likely wed get rain out of that. But as it comes on shore, watch what happens. Its pulled up to the north, and we really dont get much of anything. The north bay looks like you might get a few showers. So its coming closer. Well watch that again. Now with the perspective were really missing out on most of this. But look, there might be a few showers in the Late Afternoon and early evening. This will be the fourth one like this over the last two weeks. The early fall systems trying to get here, but its too early in the season, and theyre not having much luck. All right, in the sevenday forecast, look at the warm up for thursday. Wednesday and thursday are the two days. Oakland is going to be in the upper 80s. San francisco is going to be in the low 80s. That is a warm day. But we wont be breaking records. Were not looking at a heat wave with temperatures like this, but it is going to be noticeably warm for two days. Then the cool down by the weekend. Were going right back the other way. Well be in the mid70s for saturday and sunday just about bay area wide. Increasing clouds, a temperature drop that big does come along with the weak system. Maybe a 10 chance of rain. More on that one closer to the weekend. Back to you. All right, thanks, darren. But now its just possible that designation as a landmark might save the day. John ramos has got that story. Grace Baptist Church has been at its san jose location for more than 80 years, and the congregation would make a lot of money if it sold it. But making money isnt the mission there. Like a lot of churches postpandemic, the group of worshipers at grace Baptist Churchs service was pretty small. 16 people to be exact. But theyre on a mission to help people in the san jose downtown area, and its important that they have a place to do it. Right around the corner where you see people walking, homeless, you know right there on santa clara a block away. And were right in the middle of that. And thats exactly where grace Baptist Church wants to be. Reporter reverend kenneth love was only a guest pastor on this day because the congregation no longer has a pastor. They recently cut ties with their former pastor after he tried to enter a deal with a development to demolish the site. I dont believe the core of the church ever even gave that a thought. As a matter of fact, i think they were very surprised and, and maybe felt a little threatened when that surfaced. Reporter what was threatened was a historical legacy as the center of the Civil Rights Movement in san jose. Built in 1941, it was once ministered by reverent shorty collins. And more recently, it was a Gathering Place for the community following the guilty verdict in the killing of george floyd. Dr. Penny hogue joined the church in 1961 as a student and says it turned her into a social activist. Oh, i think it was very important. It certainly influenced those of us who were members at the time. And, um, and how they live our life. Reporter the church mow ministers to the homeless and down and out in the area, and thats why they consider the location to be so important. Its a message, and the people in this community see it as a message. Its a reminder of what else is there. There is a place thats safe. Reporter and it may be about to get even safer because the city is on the verge of granting historical landmark status to the church which would severely restrict what could be done with the building. To me it would be insurance against a developer coming in. This is very valuable property, and this is the jewel of the developments always. But i feel that the importance of it is to have a piece of san jose preserved as a Community Meeting place for this neighborhood. And i shall dwell in the house of the lord forever and ever and ever. Reporter it may not be forever, but the people that dwell in this house of the lord intend to be here for a very long time, god willing. San Jose City Council will decide whether to grant historical landmark status in the next few weeks. A broken Sprinkler System inside a tunnel caused some closures. Check this out.
