A great way to kick it off heading into this afternoon were actually going to be seeing 80s down in the bay. All throughout the south bay but were starting off nice and cool in the 50s. 55 right now in san jose. Were actually cooling down a hair more into morgan hill. This afternoon, clear skies and offshore winds and temperatures slowly getting above average daybyday. Now start off with San Francisco. 55 today and San Francisco is interesting. This is a fun microclimate to talk about. In the october month, were actually going to startishing more summerlike quote unquote weather and with that in mind let show you the reason why thats even happening. Heres the weather headlines. Today and tomorrow the heat wave really coming in. Really impacting widespread from washington down to san diego. So everyone across our west coast is going to see it and were going to get the offshore wind which is nice as it is, have to be honest, were expecting moderate fire threat with that too. So heres that temperature anomaly map. Widespread throughout the coastline all going to be above average right around the corner as High Pressure starts ridging its way in. Look at the jet stream. In fact pretty quiet overall into San Francisco this morning from the east bay. So a good start to your tuesday drive. There is road work northbound Golden Gate Bridge just past this point. So might be a little slow. Thats countercommute though. So anyone making their way southbound 101 is clear all the way into San Francisco. We also start with a developing story in San Francisco. A hit and run driver struck a woman on Market Street and then a driverless car ran over her. This was the police and fire response to the crash. It happened at 5th and Market Streets in the citys so ma neighborhood. Just after 9 30 last night. Now were told rescuers found the woman trapped under the cruise vehicle and had to use the jaws of life to actually get her out. Now shes being treated for critical yours. Were told the vehicle remained on scene and didnt have an occupant at the time but in a statement sent to us overnight. Cruise tells us the victim was tossed into the path of the av by a human driven vehicle in the lane to its left. The av then braked aggressively to minimize the impact. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene. And at the request of the police, the av was kept in place. They say our heartfelt concern and focus is the wellbeing of the person who was injured and we are actively working with police to help identify the responsible driver. Heading into this afternoon, were not going to see too much of a change in the forecast compared to yesterday. High pressure is still offshore. Its starting to build and its acting like a heat dome its going to warm us up a lot right around the corner and its also going to keep us dry too. Whats happening within the next couple of days were actually going to see offshore winds develop and as they continue to be the trend for us kind of moves the marine layer just offshore and away from us. Thats perfect which means sunny skies in time for the air show for fleet week. So many other events going on too. General admission starts on wednesday and for the rest of us who wants to go watch the air show. A gorgeous one for us this year. Lets take it a step back. We have to start off with today alone. Off in the north bay, and as we head into this afternoon, daytime highs today, there we go. Actually sitting in the 80s anywhere from novato off into napa. Heading down south closer the San Francisco, all throughout the bay area, 80s are in the forecast for us today near redwood city and 70s near San Francisco. The nice little warmup and only going to continue to be the trend until suddenly the coast hits 80s later this weekend. As we head down to morgan hill were in the 80s this afternoon and a very similar trend in the east bay. I want show you whats happening within the next seven days though. This is interesting and starting off with the north bay, all the way down into the east bay too, 80s today. Turning quickly into 90s as we head into our wednesday forecast. Were going to hold tight to the 90s and no triple digits and yes, this is not recordbreaking. But i will say this. This is well above average for this time of year. As we look off into the distance though, all the way to next monday, thats when temperatures will start averaging out and were back to the 70s in the forecast suddenly as early as monday but as we take a look at the coast forecast. I mentioned this too. More upper 70s in the forecast and low 80s just in time for thursday. Calming down as we head into next week with partly cloudy skies as early as sunday. Thats the only concern right now i have at least when it comes to the air show. Well have more on that in a bit. For now over to you. G. A look at the freeways on this Tuesday Morning. And good morning to you. If you are getting ready to grab that coffee and hop in any of the bay area bridges, look at this. They look great. Live look at the bay bridge so far, so good. Were not seeing any brake lights or issues and traffic is pretty quiet for the most part for anyone making that ride across the bay bridge. Coming say out of the east bay working over into San Francisco, things are moving along pretty nicely through there. With no backup or traffic. So enjoy it while you can because we know that changes once the metering lights get turned on which happen in about 20 minutes. Live look at the Golden Gate Bridge, no fog to slow you down. Thats the good news right now. And looks like traffic overall is moving along pretty nicely. South 101 out of marin heading into San Francisco. If you are taking northbound 101 across the Golden Gate Bridge, working over into marin, there was some overnight road work and looks like thats now been cleared. No issues at all on the span there. Traffic is moving in both directions pretty nicely. Heres what we have some brake lights but supercommuters you know exactly what to expect. This is nothing unusual here. If you are coming westbound out of tracy, working your way over into the Altamont Pass, thats where we have some brake lights just to about north flynn and after that its clear the rest of the way towards the dublin interchange. And once you are on 580, to 680, if you are taking that southbound 680 ride into the sunol grade, right now things are moving along nicely with no delays or issues. Time right now 5 19. Sometimes its apparent and sometimes its not. Well, with this system thats moving its way in really the offshore wind are going to just kind of clear out the coast. Were going to see sunny skies adds we head into this week and to add to that also going to be seeing really warm temperatures too. 80s just along our coastline. 90s in our inland areas and its as though summer is here despite the fact that we are definitely still in fall. All going to see this no matter where you live in california, oregon, washington. This heat dome will really impact the whole west coast. Right around the coliseum north and southbound traffic moving along really nicely. Kind of the calm before the storm as things get busier in the 7 00 hour. San mateo bridge taking 880 through hayward and connecting over on to 92. Right now traffic is quiet. Westbound commuters heading over towards 101. Only about 13 minutes between 880 and the peninsula. And taking a look at traffic elsewhere, if you are making that ride on 92, theres a crash westbound just as you exit into that foster city area. Lets come home to the bay area. In marin county, still no sign of a missing man whmay have been attacked by a shark. Just ofof Wildcat Beach north of bolinas. Three people went into the water and only two came out yelling about a pool of blood left behind. Our crews joined First Responders looking for that missing 52yearold man yesterday. We still dont have his name but we have learned september and october are the months where there are more shark sightings in that area because of elephant seals and sea lions giving birth. An advance you think about the surf you know. Sea lions you know, cant always pick up on stuff because of the activity and stuff. Thats where white sharks often attack. He says marin county has higher numbers of of shark attacks compared to other counties across the state. In oakland, fire crews stopped a brush fire that came dangerously close to, racing through a neighborhood. This is near parker and outlook avenues. Firefighters climbed on top of the roof of one of the homes to fight in fire, as you can see here more than 50 firefighters helped knock down the flames. The fire did damage to one homes attic but the rest of the house was saved. The Fire Department posted this picture of a rainbow over the burn scar when they were mopping up. Across the bay, a video from San Francisco is going viral. And has some people asking arent there worse problems on the city streets . This video shows a public works employee running after a hot dog vendor and knocking over his cart. And then he appears to help clean up the mess. A woman named yellly who shot the video told us it happened sunday afternoon near pier 41 at the wharf. Other vendors were in the area. At the time i was like in shock. I was obviously saying something to the guy that did that to him because like i feel like its rude for like that to happen because he was just trying to make money. A lot of vendors have came up to me and they were like asking like oh, can i see the video of what happened . Like hot dog vendors. And i showed them. And they had even told me that theyre very happy and glad that someone finally reported it because they said that had happened multiple times and they had no evidence of that. According to an analysis of census data by the Progressive AdvocacyGroup California forward, the latino Home Ownership rate in the bay area was lower in 2020 than it was in 2010. In 2022 the three least affordable markets for latinos were the San Francisco and san mateo and redwood city market. San jose and santa clara and the Oakland Berkeley livermore market. Friends and family just looking for you know, a better a better price so they move out to another estate where where houses are more affordable than california. Reporter aler con says affordability is the biggest barrier. But oftentimes, perceived inaffordability is a major hurdle. Many people see prices and immediately think they cannot afford to buy here. To add to that, the offshore went will actually start getting a lot gustier giving us clear skies. However, that does allow for a moderate fire threat so were keeping a close eye on that too. Heres the area of High Pressure just offshore. Then kind of diving down and creating this heat dome just offshore. High pressure will stick around for us this week giving us clear skies and warm temperatures and 80s in time for fleet week. But lets take it a step back. We still have to get through today first. And so as we take a look at the area, starting up in the north bay, 80s are in the forecast for us today near santa rosa and napa. It will be a Beautiful Day for us all the way into the Santa Clara Valley. Just along 101 all from redwood city north into San Francisco, 80s and upper 70s for the most part near oakland and low 70s near San Francisco.
