They have reached an agreement with the city for a contract that would last until summer of 2025. It includes historic raises, more family leave and better play for bilingual staff. The agreement still has to be voted on and ratified. Now to other top story, the indictments out of georgia. They name the former president and eight allies in an alleged criminal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 Election Results in georgia. As christian bienevides reports, there is no such thing as a president ial pardon. I just want to find 11,780 votes. Reporter that january 2021 phone call between outgoing President Donald Trump and georgias secretary of state launched the twoandahalf year investigation culminating in a criminal indictment handed up last night. The defendants engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to overturn georgias president ial Election Results. Reporter the 41count indictment names trump and 18 of his allies including chief of staff mark meadows and trumps personal attorney. Rudy giuliani. Trump himself is facing 13 felony counts including violating georgias rico act. A racketeering law used to take down major crime organizations. What you have is a mandatory minimum sentence for anyone convicted. Its a punishment of five to 20 years so there is no walk away from this. There is no probation on this. The Fulton CountyDistrict Attorney has asked all 19 defendants including the former president to surrender here in the next ten days. Trump is currently the gop front runner in a bid to get his old job back. Many of his republican competitors are set to debate in milwaukee next week. For now, trump allies tell cbs news is leaning against showing up in milwaukee and instead is focusing on rallying his own supporters as he faces down all of these indictments. Those include the documents case at his florida home. The january 6th case in washington dc, and the new york hush money case all amounting to more legal trouble than has ever faced a former u. S. President. And a new bill in the California Legislature is calling for a federal investigation into Florida Governor ron desantis. In connection to his unauthorized alien transport program. In june, desantis arranged for dozens of migrants to be transported from texas to sacramento. Many say under false pretenses. Today, Silicon ValleyAssembly Member evan lowe introduced a bill that he says would bring accountability to desantis for the migrant flights. He says the Florida Governor illegally trafficked vulnerable migrants across state lines. A man was arrested for a deadly shooting at the lake merritt bart station. Pamela price announcing the arrest of 45yearold Juan Martinez in the past hour. Her officer says he was arrested in connection with the shooting and bart police say the shooting came after a fight over the electric scooter. Martinez now charged with murder and is being held at the santa rita jail. And the man accused of killing cash app founder bob lee back in front of a judge this morning. The appearance lasted ten minutes. Nima momeni waived his right to a speed by trial. Both his defense and the prosecution agreed to release his white bmw from the impound lot. But he is expected back in court in october. Former Oakland Police chief armstrong claiming the mayor and other cities retaliated against him. Armstrong says his firing was retaliation for his criticism of the Police Departments federal monitor. Because in addition to a light shaker, there was a weak little cell that moved through inland Contra Costa County this morning and tried to drop lightning as it moved north. Right now it is real quiet but there are still thunderstorms in the sierra. What happens next, we put it in the futurecast. None of these have a high likelihood of getting here. There is no forecast for rain, let alone thunderstorms. But, over the last 24 to 36 hours, there has been a stray little shower that has come in at odd hours for the east bay. And well watch that chance. It is down to a 10 chance. You can see how quiet things are here. We dont have anything set up that would favor any more coming back. Dont be surprised if the sky looks interesting and the clouds look interesting. Look how close the thunderstorms will be. They are never leaving california entirely. They will keep going in the sierra the next few days and well have a few sitting off the coast. I dont think they will do it. So, when you put it into a seven day forecast, there is no rain here. And it is more sunshine than anything else. But we do have a cooldown. So lets start looking at that. Look at the numbers back here. 86 for the daytime high in concord by the time we get to friday. That gets you below average. So we will stay mid to upper 90s for a little while here and things will start cooling back down. If you look at the temperature right now. It is 86 now but only noon. Should be in the upper 60s in the city. We are above average today. And for the next several days. But the cooldown shows up in the seven day forecast. We saw that for concord.
