Grand scheme of thicks its not too alarming by any means. Mostly off in the east inland hills. And we see a little bit of a warmup closer to areas like, you know, the Golden Gate Park where outside land is happening. Daybyday notice how we get warmer and warmer but really not by much. Going to be cool for us this weekend. Plan the outfits, keep in mind its going to be kind of a chilly one. Gianna . Yeah, make sure you have the sweater packed in the festival bag. Homelessness advocates invited San Francisco city hall to the negotiating table to end the year long lawsuit against encampment sweeps but yesterday the City Attorney said no to that deal. The coalition on homelessness says the city is violating Constitutional Rights through brutal policy practices that includes citing and arresting them for sleeping in public when they have no shelter to go to. Yesterday advocates outlined settlement terms and asking San Francisco officials to prioritize more Affordable Housing and more temporary shelter. Our lawsuit is demonstrated that had the citys current street response to homelessness is not only illegal and inhumane, but a tried and failed approach that perpetuates homelessness. So the settlement also calls for the city to create new framework for responding to street encampments. In response, the City Attorney says if the coalition actually wanted to reach a settlement agreement, this political stunt is certainly not the way to go about it. And counterproductive to their stated goals. And going on to say despite plaintiffs antics, San Francisco will continue to advance our acts in court and fight for our citys ability to maintain a healthy and safe San Francisco for all. Silicon valley students are tackling Environmental Issues at the annual green careers bus tour. They said theres no time to waste at the event. We always see it on media so its something we cant run away from. And so i think its so important for us as a generation to tackle it headon. So the Sustainable Design studios and even sunnyvales Carbon Neutral city hall. A head start on making the world a better place. Love to see that. The weather were going to love to see it as well. Looking pretty good for the weekend. Absolutely, just talking about it earlier. Staying mild today and a little cool along the coast and beautiful off into the inland areas but this weekend slowly a bit of a warm up and by next week as all kids are heading back to school, thats when we really notice that warmup in full force. Im talking about triple digits for the first day of school for a lot of those east inland kiddos. A lot different compared to this morning. This morning we have the marine layer kind of blanketing the Santa Clara Valley and some high clouds just above the clouds are going to linger around a little bit longer down just mother san jo clara and even up into fremont until around 9 00 this morning. At that point thats when we see it pull back along the bay bridge. Closer to the Golden Gate Bridge. Were still dealing with dense clouds all along our coast. And by lunchtime we still see that not really doesnt break apart too much more. I mean its going to stay a cloudy day for us today. A little bill below average for our daytime highs along the coast. 60s from pacifica into halfmoon bay and still in the 80s in the Santa Clara Valley this afternoon. This is a very similar forecast to yesterday. And were going to see pretty much the same trend as we headinto the forecast tomorrow too but daybyday the upper 80s slowly turn into 90s and upper 90s by sunday and then by monday of next week, thats when we see the triple digits near antioch and brentwood and fairfield. 65 today in the heart of San Francisco. Lets take a quick look at the temperature anomaly map. If its yellow, its above average. Blue, its below average and watch what happens as we head into the election couple of days here in california alone. All throughout the pacific northwest. See the yellow starting to really formulate especially in oregon and w . Thats going to be High Pressure building its way in. It warms us up a lot as we head into next week. So just keep that in mind. Still beautiful weekend ahead of us. For anyone heading up to the Sonoma County fair in santa rosa, expect upper 80s by sunday and low 60s expected for anyone heading to stern grove this beautiful sunday weekend. The next couple of days here in concord alone. Notice how i said were warming up into this weekend. And then by next week, we actually kind of stay warm to kick off the week and then we cool down fast. Monday of next week. Were in the nile. Just in con card alone. Once we head into friday were back down to the 80s. For all the kids heading back to school just keep that in mind when it comes to planning the outfits too. 80s today in the inland east bay and triple digits by monday and head over into San Francisco. Where were also seeing a little bit of a warmup too. Upper 60s and lower 70s with that warmup also impacting areas like the north bay. 78 today. 80s by this weekend. Gianna . All right, jessica thank you. Lets get a live look at conditions as you work your way across the Golden Gate Bridge this morning. Look at this. You can see it so were not dealing with any foggy issues on this friday morning. Everything is actually moving along pretty nicely. They cleared the caltrans work that was happening across the span. Moving along there nicely. Overall heres an overview and you are getting the thumbs up on most of the bay area freeways right now. Not seeing a lot of brake lights or issues on 101 or 880. There is a crash or i should say emergency road work rather on 84 niles canyon. Eastbound to main street. So that roadway is bloked and use an alternate route in the meantime. 680 itself is moving along pretty well. So you can use that if youd like heading through the sunol grade this morning. Bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights are off. So clear as you head into San Francisco. Now you are going to see the bay area bridges and all routes heading into the city like 101 all very busy this weekend. Theres a lot going on. So definitely start planning ahead especially if you are going to do things like head the outside lands and stern grove and caltrain, b. A. R. T. And muni and a. C. E. Rail all very good ideas. At least caltrain is for today. Over the weekend, they will have bus bridges available. They are having closures in effect due to electrification work for caltrain. That will be under way for trains between the south bay and millbrae. Thats happening over the weekend. On saturday and sunday. So bridges or buses will be available as an alternate but definitely check the schedule and plan ahead and based on time think about that as you head out this weekend. The fair is happening up in the north bay that will affect the ride along 101 and highway 12. Outside lands and Golden Gate Park. Parking around there is very difficult. So ride share, take a bike, Public Transit. That is your best way to get there. Dont forget stern grove also happening this weekend as well. 5 20 on this friday morning. Happy friday to you. We are big for our community. Its been a struggle for the brewing industry. The do we saw was likely the largest Natural Disaster in hawaii state history. As you know, the number has been rising and we will continue to see loss of life. At least 55 people have died in the devastating wildfires on the island of maui. And theres no estimate on how many are still missing. Four main fires are still burning and they started on tuesday when winds from a hurricane passing south of hawaii fanned the flames. One of the fires destroyed much of the Historic Town of lahaina reducing entire neighborhoods to smoldering ruins. President biden hay proved a disaster declaration for hawaii. Freeing up federal assistance. Anyone whos lost a loved one, whose home has been damaged or destroyed is going to get help immediately. And i have directed that we surge support to these brave firefighters and First Responders and Emergency Personnel working round the clock there. Risking their lives. The fema administrator is expected to arrive in hawaii today and teams with cadaver dogs being brought in fromcalifornia and washington state. Firefighters from oakland are among the crews heading to the disaster zone. It is heart breaking and hearing the stories from people trying to flee the flames is just so scary. Many travelers are also in limbo this morning because of the wildfires in maui. Hawaii officials are asking tourists to leave the island and encouraging people with travel plans to reschedule their trips. Our Shawn Chitnis is at sfo this morning with the look at how the wildfires are impacting travelers right here in the bay area. Reporter its a busy morning here at sfo. But we do know there are a couple of flights going to hawaii this morning including maui. And some families in the bay area are still trying to get back here after being stranded on the island. Take a look at this video from one family that is on the island right now. The parents and the kids got separated while they were staying at the hotel that is on the island. And the parents went to go make a quick trip and then were never able to get back to the hotel with their kids and the grandparents. So listen to what one dad shared with us about how hes dealing with the situation. Its been a terrifying, exhausting and getting information we dont have information. Reporter so we understand the parents are working with the hotel to see if they can get better communication with their kids. The plan for now is to stay on the island even though they are stranded until all of them are reunited and then they can start looking for flights to come back here to the bay area. Back to you. Coming up in about ten minutes a live report from mauis airport and donations are pouring in for those who are left with nothing from these fires. You can go to the website at kpix. Com to find out how you can help. With the fire that we had here yesterday, a lot of people still concerned about our air quality because of what was going on in oakland at the port yesterday. What are you seeing this morning . You know, for most of us throughout the bay area, that onshore flow that we get all throughout the year, it really helps with just giving us that clear pacific air but i will say as we zoom into certain local spots still kind of seeing some trouble spots this morning in the east bay. Once you head just across the bay bridge, spots like el cerrito even over into berkeley, still kind of seeing poor air quality just in pockets though. So things are starting to improve especially compared to yesterday. Yesterday just about 24 hours ago, when we were forecasting all of this and talking about what was to come. This was still pretty much all in the red. Lets head down into the Santa Clara Valley real fast where were sandwiched inbetween two different layers on cloud. Start dog see the first layer at the first level kind of dissipate but still seeing high cloud sweep throughout all the bay aread a we wake up this morning. In the upper 50s and lower 60s. Its a cool start to the morning forecast. Later into this afternoon, those clouds that you see right now down in san jose, theyre going to lift were going to see plenty of sunshine and were actually warming up into the upper 70s today. So a beautiful forecast all throughout the Santa Clara Valley today. Get out there and get some fresh air if you have the opportunity to. Over into San Francisco we go, just a little bit of mist on the camera. Depicting a perfect picture of what you can see before you head out the door. You might need the windshield wipers waking up the morning and heading into the city especially from the north bay. Dense clouds even close to the Golden Gate Bridge and along the coastline. Mid 60s in the bay. 80s off into the east inland hills. Its a beautiful forecast for us this afternoon. For anyone heading out to outside lands. Low 60s today for the forecast. Lets take a look at the roadways right now. A live look at the Golden Gate Bridge. Kind of the calm before the storm its going to be very busy across the span here this weekend for lot of people heading into the city. And right now they are doing a few more lane changes there adding that extra lane for southbound commuters. Heading into San Francisco. We have some caltrans work on the northbound side and southbound now is most cars heading into the city but its friday which means a lot of things are happening this weekend here in the bay area. So if you are just thinking about planning i head, definitely start thinking about your ways you are going to get around to outside lands and stern grove. Both happening in San Francisco this weekend. Bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights are off and it is safe to say it is friday light. Looking very good for the ride into San Francisco right now. In fact, most of our bay area freeways are actually doing okay. The only accident we really have thats causing any sort of closures is actually road work thats happening on 84 niles canyon eastbound from palmers are to main street. Other than that look at that. Everything is clear and even the ride into the Altamont Pass isnt too bad this morning. All of our mass transit agencies are on time this morning. B. A. R. T. , caltrain, muni, a. C. E. , all definitely something you want to think about using though over the weekend to get around for all events that are happening. Other top stories now. President biden issued a major disaster declaration, freeing up federal aid after many survivors lost their homes and dan chriswell the fema administrator is expected to arrive in hawaii today to help coordinate recovery efforts. Well, thousands of people have evacuated from those disaster zones and some have managed to get off the island altogether. But many are still stuck at the airport looking for flight out. Rude bay shah be a zoo joining us live now from the main airport. Good morning, thank you for joining us. Reporter good morning. Good morning, so you have been talking with people waiting to leave the island. What are they telling you about their experience so far . What its been like fleeing the fires and fleeing the flames . Reporter yeah, well, this is kind of the mellow end of their trip. After what theyve been through. Having to flee smoke and flames in some cases and then be barricaded into their resorts. This is the tourists, of course the people who live here, who have lost their homes, thats a completely different story. They have nothing to go back to. Let me set the scene and show you the airport right now with hundreds of people sleeping on the floors. On benches. Volunteers have been coming around, passing out blankets and pillows. And really taking care of the people here. You know, thats part of the spirit of the hawaiian people is to take care of visitors and to take care of each other and really come together as a community when a disaster like this happens. So they have been here passing out blankets and pillows and toiletries and food, water. So people have their needs met here at the airport. But so many of them have not had luck getting out. Some of them are stuck in layovers. We talked to a couple from new zealand who is trying to get to seattle and happen to have a layover here and is now stranded. And stuck. So all of them have very harrowing stories. The onces who are here on the island of maui when all of this happened. Including a 15yearold from california who broke his toe and they just kind of put on a makeshift bandage and trying to get home. But so many of those stories. There are and you are hearing stories of people just, you know, being separated from family members and trying to, you know, coordinate and get back together and maybe get that flight out of hawaii. Anything from the airlinings right now . About are they adding extra flights or how long is it taking for people to sort of get, you know, a chance to get out and you know, back to stateside . Reporter well t people we have been talking to have been here for three days. In some cases. And some of them are waiting until tomorrow to go. And then their flights might be delayed even after that. But you know whats really touching is the employees here at the airport and the airlines. Theyre working 16, 18 hour days even though they have missing loved ones and cant get ahold of them because the phone lines and internet are all out but theyre still showing up to work. We know that southwest and Hawaiian Airlines have increased flights. And also lowered the cost of getting off the island to about 19, 20, just to help people evacuate and kind of rise to the occasion. Then trying to make plans from other Hawaiian Islands but there are still hundreds stuck here. Im glad you brought up the employees, you are right. We think about the travelers and tourists but the people are dealing with quite a bit. Really thank you for the live report and hopefully talk to you soonon. Donations are pouri in. It really is. I mean for everyone heading out to outside lands today and tomorrow. Its a little bit cool closer to San Francisco. But the east bay and the Santa Clara Valley. I mien 80sed to . This is a stunning forecast to get fresh air this afternoon. We have 60s along the coast with the cool and cloudy conditions there. Heading off into the east bay, brentwood and antioch, upper 80s and lower 90s today but this weekend big warmup in time for the first day of school for many kids next week on monday. Were going to be seeing triple digits so this is the time to prepare now. Today were sitting at 81 today over in just walnut creek. 6 65 in the heart of San Francisco. A little bit below average along the coast. But not by much. Were dealing with clouds stretching their way even into the Santa Clara Valley. This is actually live look from our Black Mountain camera over the Santa Clara Valley. We see the high clouds and those low clouds and pretty much going to pull back along the coast. Just like clockwork. Closer to noon. Add to that, also a little bit of coastal dress this will morning. Dont be shocked if you have the wipers going this morning heading into city or even along the peninsula especially along 101. Heres what we have by 4 00. That cloud layer wraps its way over San Francisco once again. So we are going to be dealing with some cloudy skies for us today near outside lands. 60s today, 60s tomorrow. 60s into sunday. Yes, still cool but at least were warming up a little by daybyday. We dont notice it nearly as much in San Francisco as we will over into our east bay and up in the north baby this weekend. Speaking of the weekend. San francisco not heading tondos lands. Head over to stern grove on sunday. The event oh my gosh so much fun. Even up into santa rosa theres the Sonoma County fair going on too. If you want to head up there were expecting mid 80s in the forecast just saturday and sunday. Now heres the trims i was talking about. For our inland east bay. Today its beautiful and i mean were in the 80s this afternoon. By monday and tuesday, for anyone heading back to school its going to be a very warm afternoon setup especially on that playground. So just take it slow and recession.
