She explains why she has no choice but to pack up and leave. Plus its a symbol of life. A symbol of celebration. A symbol of happiness. Fresh new look in San Franciscos chinatown. How the Community Came together to beautify their neighborhood. And we have cool and cloudy conditions along our coastline this morning with daytime highs today even off in the east inland hills below average. How muching oner is that going to last . Ill let you know coming up. A live look at the bay bridge, we have a vehicle fire and the backup is building. Ill tell you exactly where it is coming up. But first we are taking a live look outside on your wednesday morning. Look at this beautiful view of the sunrise for our camera on top of black mountain. I love seeing that morning glow right there. Jess, its so nice but here in the city, it looks definitely a lot different. Were looking at the shot from the Golden Gate Bridge right behind you. Exactly. Still kind of dark and gloomy along the coastline and it could be worse though. At least we can see the Golden Gate Bridge this morning. So daytime highs today will stay nice and cool along the coastline. Thats in a minute. Current conditions though. A little bit breezy though with the onshore flow. Later into this afternoon the winds really start to kick up and current temperatures right now widespread. Still in the 50s and 60s in the bay area and speaking of 60s that will be the daytime highs later this afternoon for the friends along the coast. It will be nice and mild there today with the chance of light drizzle really in the evening hours tonight all widespread throughout the bay area but really just light. If you see clouds and really dense in the local area and you start seeing just the little bit of mist, dont be too surprised well notice that mostly near bodega bay and even the north bay today. Yesterday more isolated close to halfmoon bay. Now all throughout the afternoon hours today. 60s in tight for us along the coast and 60s even in the heart of the bay but daytime highs off in the inland areas at max only warming up into the mid 80s. Its a cool setup in the Santa Clara Valley. Its a cool setup up in the north bay and even for the friends in the east inland hills. Well see plenty of sunshine today. Near concord even. Once that marine layer pulls its way back but only warming up into the low 80s today. Tomorrow, even into friday. Watch what happens as we head into this weekend. Low 90s which is still mild in the grand scheme of things. So were going to have more on that coming up in a bit and why that warmup is even happening. For now over to you, gianna. All right, thank you. Look at this live look at the bay bridge. This got backed up really, really quickly. Look at that. Traffic just stacking up and metering lights are on and whats adding to to is a vehicle fire just as you get past this point a little closer to the metering lights. Early backup here at the bay bridge. If this is your ride heading into San Francisco. Give yourself a few extra minutes this morning to make it through the slower than usual commute. Maybe another 10, 15 minutes not this bad of a backup. Definitely think about that as you get ready to head out the door this morning. The positive is its sort of helping ease traffic as you work your way across the upper deck here is a live look not too far from the tunnel and you can see its not too bad. Slower off the exit into the city. An investigation now under way after a large fire erupted in San Franciscos sunset district. Last night that near spread to multiple buildings in the area. And required a massive response from fire crews and Shawn Chitnis is live in the sunset where that fire broke out. And shawn, whats the scene looking like this morning . Reporter amanda, good morning. We can get a better sense of the damage right now as i step aside we can tell you firefighters are still on sear but they have the situation under control clearly. But one of the buildings that was affected by the fire or the flames clearly spread over to all boarded up from the street side. How much damage that was there. This was three alarm fire that required more than 100 firefighters to get to this scene last night. Lets take a look though at what was happening around 8 30 in the evening here intersection of 8th and irving. Thats when crews first arrived on scene. They were saying that they had reports of heavy fire coming from the second floor of the third story apartment complex the damage did spread to other businesses like the Hardware Store behind me. This morning were working to learn more about just how many people were impacted by this fire and we know no one was hurt. But its still unclear how many people may have been displaced. This is a great example to be prepared. You never know when a fire is going to occur. Always have working smoke alarms in the home and make sure you have an escape plan. Reporter so heres a look at that three Story Building thats on the other side of this intersection. As we come back over where were standing here. Thats where that Hardware Store is. So clearly a large space of this neighborhood impacted and right now we are waiting to find out if theres any initial idea about the cause of this fire. That is still under investigation but we do know that the red cross showed up last night to help anyone who may have been displaced. Amanda, back to you. What a mess out there. And she talked to another who is staying even after witnessing a horrific crime just next door. Reporter i love oakland. Its very hard for me and my son, especially my son. Reporter so kristin cook is leaving oakland, california. Be careful. Reporter after living here her entire life. Cant take it anymore. I got to the point i was too scared to leave my house. Reporter cook blames brazen assaults and robberies in broad daylight. Breakins and home invasions across the city. As oakland sees a surge in reported Violent Crimes this year compared to last. While homicides are down, robberies, burglaries and rapes are all up by double digit percentages. And everyone we talked to says it doesnt matter your race, your income, everyone seems to be a target including carjackings like this one. No. [ screaming ] now theyre carjacking people at stop signs. And my son about to start diving. The fact that i am being pushed out because i emotionally cant take it anymore is horrible. Reporter but tony byrd is staying. She lives with the locked front gate and five security cameras. He says Oakland Police recommended steel braces for residential doors and air horns. The idea is if you set it off the neighbor would hear it and set theirs off and more people are alert theres danger. Reporter her neighbor across the street, 60yearold retiree dave snyder was shot to death in june trimming his front tree during the day. He died as she and other neighbors tried to save him. Im not looking for the perfect safe place. Im looking for a place where the elderly and women with children arent targeted. I think we can all agree that that needs to change. And so i feel like it will change. And thats why im staying. Found everything you are looking for . Reporter but staying open gets tougher every day for troy welch owner of laurel ace hardware. About six of them that comes in. Reporter welchs store was robbed just hours before we met him. They went through the cash registers and this is my office but you see they went in and tried to lift and it its going to figure out if they arent getting into safe. Reporter welch says he loses 10 of his merchandise to theft. So common this year, he leaves his registers empty and open, tired of replacing them. Its more brazen. Sometimes more violent. I think than what it used to be. Reporter frustration has spilled over in Community Meetings. Anger often directed at leadership. Like the newly elected District Attorney who has been on the job just seven months. Darren white is with the naacp Oakland Branch which penned an open letter to the city blaming failed leadership, the defund the police movement, and antipolice rhetoric for creating a hayday for oakland criminals. Were not trying to safe you know, mass incarcerations and arrest everyone. We want the people that are out here committing these Violent Crimes arrested and charged. [ inaudible ] with no accountability. Whatsoever. We are hearing from you in the community and this morning in vallejo. The frustration over the Police Departments staffing shortage. All the town people are expecting it now that we said it. I doubt its going happen. All right. Nice day to get outside . Absolutely. Its beautiful. We definitely won the lottery with the forecast for the next couple of days and low 60s no sight for us along the coast. Aides at max in the inland areas today. Staying nice and cool with low pressure still moving from the north. Believe it or not actually leftover clouds from a Tropical Storm. That almost sounds weird but its the season and heres whats going on. Tropical storm eugene has wrung out the last of its energy and now its kind of just floating with those high clouds in the atmosphere. Sweeping its way into Southern California as we head into thursday. Notice how we see it lose its energy as it kind of spirals its way towards us. And were really just left with a leftover clouds like i said. Heading into our friday setup. So we will see cloudy skies with different direction of the winds actually pushing offshore as we head into our friday setup. But today is wednesday. Were still dealing with that onshore flow keeping us nice and cool along the coast with some cloudy skies and low 60s near pacifica and 80s off in the east inland hills. That puts us well below average along the coastline and a little bit around average near antioch and concord and a very similar trend in pleasanton. Heres the temperature anomaly map and whats going on within the next couple of days. Stay nice and cool. You can see that in the blue color right here along california. But watch what happens as we advance into saturday and then sunday. See that yellow that really starts to take the Pacific Northwest and ranges its way down into our coastline . Thats High Pressure building its way in. And thats going to warm us up fast. San jose, were still in the low 80s for now. We hit upper 80s and then last actually midportions of next week, you can see that similar trend even heading off into the east bay near antioch now. Low to mid80s kind of back and forth as we head into well, today and then tomorrow we start to warm up in the upper 80s and suddenly were in the 90s as we head into next week. So were seeing that big warmup no matter where you are in the bay area. Daytime highs today for anyone heading out to the coliseum over in oakland. Were expecting upper 60s in time for first pitch for the game. Weekend around the corner and expecting low 60s to kick off the weekend for outside lands and quickly warming up day by day. Only have a day pass or doing lastminute one i know the headliners of course are the most important part for why youbuy a day pass. But hey sunday is the most Beautiful Day in my opinion. Check this one out that. 80s towing into 90s even upper 90s in the weekend forecast. For the north bay. Low 60s for now turns into upper 60s along our coast. And were expecting 60s and 70s in San Francisco heading into the rest of this week. Gianna . All right, thank you. Taking a look at the roadways right now. And im going to start off with the live look here at the bay bridge bridges specific think bay bridge. A lot of brake lights this morning and weve got a crash not too far from here. Right around the metering lights and also theres a vehicle fire on the lower deck of the bay bridge. So extra busy as you head out the door this morning for that ride out of the eastway into San Francisco. If you are headed off the eastshore freeway, that is ourslowest approach. Getting out this morning and getting ready to take the kids to school and maybe getting ready to work i would certainly start thinking about giving yourself some extra time this morning. To manage all those brake lights. It is a slow ride as you work your way through there. Yesterday the san mateo bridge was a bit of struggle. That is not the case today. Its the usual stuff heading westbound over to 10. So if you want to avoid some of brake lights on the bay bridge and maybe you are commuting say out of hayward, actually could use this instead. Its looking pretty good over towards 101. That would be a good alternate route. Golden gate bridge, not bad. You can see it which is great. So not dealing with any visibility. But might be a little misty out there. So just be careful and other than that, it is all clear on 101 through san mateo as well as the ride through castro valley. With all the wind and the rain we had over the winter, the lanterns really took a beating but this morning they have a fresh new look. Just absolutely gorgeous out there. Betty yu shows us though its about lot more than just the aesthetics. Yay. [ cheering and applause ] reporter with that, San Franciscos chinatown is officially brighter and more vibrant than ever. Bay area celebrity chef martin yan was on hand for the ribbon cutting. The lantern is a symbol of life. A symbol of celebration and a symbol of happiness. Reporter after the iconic lanterns were destroyed by hail, heavy rain and strong winds earlier this year, the Chinatown Merchants Association and the nonprofit be chinatown launched a fundraising effort for three blocks of new lanterns on grand avenue. Many of the lanterns were torn and faded. The community raised 25,000. Alaska airlines matched an additional 20,000 in donations. First of all, it gives color and it give energy, you know . Everything is red. And also gives life to chinatown. Reporter line dancers and the grand avenue follies performed. Supervisor aaron peskin was among the Community Leaders who attended. It has been the subject of racism and the people have been resilient. Its been the subject of a pandemic and hate and the people have been resilient. Chinatown has never gone away. But it is back. Reporter the lanterns dont just beautify the neighborhood. Community members say they add an extra layer of safety. When the lanterns were down, i think there was more crime. And people feel safer with the streets lit up and elders have also expressed that. They feel a lot safer walking in the community. Reporter jenny chan with the Chinatown Merchants Association said the lanterns also help to enhance security cam video at night. The new lanterns are also better secured to various properties. Yan said he first started coming to chinatown when he taught a cooking class as a student at uc davis. Actually bring students to chinatown to walk around chinatown and dim sum and walk around and take them to the golden gate. Fortune cookie place. Reporter he hopes the new additions will bring more traffic to a historic neighborhood he loves. You can eat, shop, and drink and you can do anything. And its a wonderful place. And everything here is delicious. And i can tell. I eat in every single one of these restaurants. And the lantern symbolize prosperity and joy and have been hanging over chinatown for a decade. They were replaced just in time for the autumn moon festival in september. Gianna . All right, time right now 6 22. Brock purdy staying focused in his comeback from injury. But his life off the field is also getting some attention. We asked the 49ers quarterback about a huge decision in this mornings red and gold report. Plus, the time is almost here for San Franciscos longawaited ikea store. We have a the 49ers will take the act to las vegas this weekend. Theyve got plenty of guys who can be considered the headliner and matt lively explains in todays red and gold report. Reporter we might be in Northern California. But the 49ers locker room is sort like the hollywood of football rosters with the amount of star power they have. They were well represented on the nfls annual top 100 players. Nick bosa came in at number four. Trent williams, fred warner and George Kittle were all in the top 20. And all the talent only made Training Camp that much more competitive. Its so fun to compete against the best day in and day out. Its like playing in the pro bowl every single day with the amount of talent we have on both sides. I have spoke on it. Those guys getting us better and us getting them better on our side and the constant back and forth. Thats how you breed the best out of each other. Reporter brock purdy worked hard to get himself ready to play week one of the regular season, but rehab is not the only thing he did this offseason. Purdy got down on a knee and proposed to his longtime girlfriend. How nervous were you when you bent to one knee and popped the question . Yeah. That was yeah, getting. Ive been there, man. Getting engaged and proposing was probably the yeah, just the most nervous i have been in my life you know, you can go back to all the games and the big environments that you played in. Was getting on a knee and asking my girlfriend to be my wife. I dont think theres any bigger moment in my life. It was sweet. Reporter with the red and gold report, im matt lively. Well, congrats to him and you can see all the preseason games right here on cbs news bay area starting sunday. Our Juliette Goodrich and vern glenn, theyll be reporting live from las vegas. That starts tomorrow. They didnt realize that they were going to have to fight for their rights and the right to remain here. Its a housing uproar for some People Living in the north bay. The fear over a controversial housing project. Plus its the attitude that they have for the people they were se welcome back. This is cbs news bay area. A frightening wildfire in hawaii is tearing across the island of maui sparking evacuations. Coast guard crews rescued at least dozen people who raced into the ocean just to escape the smoke and the flames in the city. Emergency Officials Say the destructive wildfires are being fanned by hurricane door a. Some parts of the big island are seeing wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour. Just wow. Really thinking about everybody there and just the gorgeous landscape too this is destroying. Here in the bay area, its calm. Whats interesting is its still a very active season in the tropic. Just widespread throughout the world were seeing Tropical Storms and were seeing typhoons and were seeing hurricanes. Really widespread all throughout our globe. Lets talk about one thats actually going to impact us right around the corner. We mentioned the one in hawaii. That hurricane that swept its way through. Back here, just in baja, california, just off that coast, Tropical Storm eugene has lost its energy. But what do we do with the leftovers . That system still kind of has just enough to wring out some moisture down into Southern California within the next couple of days and then notice that cloud system kind of rolls its way back into our coastline as we head all the way into the friday setup. So were going to see some cloudy skies in the distance from that Tropical Storm alone. Back here in the bay today, though, since thats a couple of days out, today were still dealing with cloudy conditionstoo. Not from the Tropical Storm. Just seeing the marine layer kind of holding on tight and napa and even giving concord hug too but late into this afternoon well actually see sunnier skies in the east bay and still cloudy split right between San Francisco. Yesterday so funny you can see beautiful sunshine over the bay bridge and not so sunny conditions just close to the Golden Gate Bridge. Kind of like what were seeing right now as we wake up this morning. For anyone driving in from marin, heading south into San Francisco, later into this afternoon you can expect upper 60s in the forecast for our daytime highs. Still partly cloudy with a lot more sunshine in the east bay. 80s for us today and continue to see 80s for a little bit longer in the east bay until this weekend with 90s in sight. Ill have more on why were warming up in a bit. For now over to you, gianna. All right, thank you. And she just showed the live look there of the Golden Gate Bridge. No fog issues there. At the bay bridge though, you can see visibility is great. But what you are going to see a lot of brake lights and some traffic. Its extra busy this morning for anyone heading into San Francisco. Weve had a couple of hotspots had a crash not too far from here, plus a vehicle fire that was affecting traffic. Just as you come out of the lower deck of the bay bridge. Over into that oakland side. So caused a lot of spectator slowing this morning. So a busy ride there. If you are getting ready to make that trek over into San Francisco, out of the east bay, i would definitely get going this morning. No time to hit that Snooze Button right now making that ride over into the city. If you want to just use the san mateo bridge, thats looking a little bit better than the bay bridge and a pretty good alternate route. Lets look at the top stories now. Negotiations are set to restart today between the city of san jose and the unions representing its city workers. On monday, workers voted to strike but the city now has a new offer for the two main unions to try and stop the planned picket. City workers asking for an 18 raise over the next three years. The strike is planned for next tuesday and it would be the largest city workers ri in recent history. D california hightrol is in third shooting along highway 24 in less than two weeks. This latest shooting happened early gunfire struck a car between 51st street and claremont avenue. They say that driver was not hurt. Other two shootings happened in Contra Costa County and you may remember on july 28th, a man was shot as he rode in the backseat of a car along westbound 24 in orinda. He died twodays later on july 26th a driver and his son were rammed on westbound 24 in lafayette. Nobody was hurt and theyre sill searching for the suspects in all three of the shootings. In antioch now, the Police Department is now facing calls for federal oversight and all stems from the federal investigation that revealed racist Text Messages sent amongofficers. More than 40 officers are currently on leave there and one person you canning the feds to step in is a prominent attorney representing Community Members who are suing the department. He spoke to our john ramos with what he wants to see happen. Reporter the racist texts uncovered by accident by the fbi in a federal drug case sound like something from the jim crow south. With officers happily bragging about injuring black residents and openly referring to them as the nword in group text lines. Its attitudes they have towards the people that were serving. If you called and you the woman might be called a water buffalo or something or the chief and others are called black gorillas and all. Aside from the nword which are kind of routinely one officer, says we say that routinely and no one cares. Reporter but john burris cares. The oaklandbased civil rights attorney is representing a number of people in legal action against the city and has now taken it a step further. He sent a letter to the department of justice asking them to investigate and recommend the imposition of federal oversight over the operation of the antioch Police Department. So my effort here, aside from the lawsuit itself, is to take control of this department, revamp it. Reorganize it. And essentially provide a new direction for the department. The community deserves it. Reporter in the early 2000s, a group of cops known as the riders were terrorizing the black community in oakland. They were acquitted of criminal charges. But burris lawsuit in that case paved the way for federal oversight of the Police Department that exists to this day. But he says as bad as the riders were, even they were not as openly racist as what has been going on in antioch. We did have racial profiling which was different. But even that didnt have the name calling and you didnt have the verbalness that went along with it. So in this instance, much more horrific. In antioch in terms of its impact and its relationship with the community itself. Reporter a new police chief steven ford was named in november. Vowing to reform the department. When any organization finds itself in this seat, theres two things that are apparent. Theres been some neglect. And theres been a serious lack of accountability. Reporter unfortunately, ford retired just six months later. Do you think he felt it was hopeless . I dont know what he totally felt, but he certainly acted like it was hopeless. Reporter burris agrees whats needed is accountability, but he believes it will take an outside influence to begin the tough process of changing the culture of the department. And he doesnt think they should wait to do it in a lawsuit settlement. Whatever the Justice Department can do, private lawyers can do it as well. Like me. We can do it as well. The problem on it is easier, if you have the power of the federal government behind you. As opposed to me. Reporter no officers have been fired yet. Some are accused of simply receiving the texts without reporting them. Burris says those who actively participated should be fired, but because the law grants officers such strong protections, others will likely remain. He says they will have to accept more accountability if the culture is to ever change. Weve reached out to the city of antioch for its response to the letter from civil rights attorneys. But we have not heard back just yet. An Affordable Housing project under construction in marin county has spked some fierce opposition. Critics say the ojecin marin city is an example of how a new law to fast track housing can actually backfire in lower income communities. Kenny choi mazz more on the neighborhoods fighting for their voices to be heard. Reporter betty hodges parents migrated to marin city during world war ii to find work in the neighboring shipyard. Shes fighting to stop an approved 74 unit apartment complex from being built across the street from her childhood home. People who came here from the south looking for opportunity and they didnt realize that they were going to have to fight for their right and the right to remain here. Reporter demolition is under way at 825 drake after a year of protests. Residents fear the influx of hundreds of new dwellers will accelerate gentrification and push people of color out. Its the fight for power because marin city has never had power over its own destiny. Property values are so high now. Theres no property thats sold in marin city at this point thats bought by a person of color. Reporter push back against high density housing abounds across the state and hodges group save our city is not against Affordable Housing initiatives but argues the majority of the countys Public Housing is already concentrated in marin city and not considering public input is wrong. We want to make sure not just that quote, Affordable Housing comes to our community. But the kind of housing that will support people who already live here. Dont do things without the community that of people who live and reside here and who are concerned about what happens here. Reporter senate bill 35 which became law in 2018 makes it easier for certain housing projects to be approved in urban areas. Without public input or environmental review. Leaving the Marin County Community Development agency no other option. The county did approve the project. We were required to do so under state law. Had a few years of the tool and weve seen the way it works and weve seen the way theres some discomfort. How can we make it better . Reporter abraham diaz in Northern California of the Nonprofit Housing Association says an amendment to the law through sb 423 will allow for communities of high segregation and low resources in the future to have a stronger voice, but Still Believes more housing for all is the solution, especially for those who can least afford it. Not built enough housing over the last few decades. Now were trying to flip the equation. What if we accelerate the construction . Will we be better as a state for it. Reporter save our city argues theyre being forced to accept a massive project to help the county meet housing requirements under state law. I dont think we can recover. As a community. And be the community that my parents and other parents, other of our ancestors, wanted marin city to be. Reporter the county says there are three other ongoing sb35 projects within the county, but that 825 drake is the only one in an unincorporated area. The Marin Housing Authority confirms that 60 of the countys Public Housing in marin city is in marin city. Kenny reached out to sb 35 author the talk about the impact on marin city residents. That sounds interesting. Neurolink elon musks brain implant startup announced its raised 280 million in funding and led by Founders Fund a San Francisco Venture Capital firm. Established by Silicon Valley billionaire investor peter trell. It wants to connect the human brain to a computer. The goal musk has been working on for five years. Oh man. Thats going to make things really interesting. A lot of buzz over San Franciscos first ikea store which is set to open on august 23rd. The three level building along mid market has 52,000 square feet of space. Were told this ikea will focus on small space living and storage and includes two swedish delis and also a a program to buy and resell used furniture. I like that. Its wired wednesday and another tech boom may be on the horizon. In the bay area. While San Francisco continues to struggle to bounce back from pandemic losses and Downtown Retail closures. Significant investments have been made in artificial intelligence. And Silicon Valley and the city as well to help us break it all down is jon schwartz Senior Reporter with dow jones. Welcome. Hi. Theres a lot going on in the ai world and i feel like were always doing updates on this. Whats the field like for ai startups right now. The field is actually brit good here. The reason i want to mention here is because theres the classic narrative. Its almost become a cliche that San Francisco the dead. But actually the hottest companies in tech are actually here. Open ai which has 10 billion investment from microsoft. Chatgpt right . The creator is sheer, its going to look at my cheat sheet. Theres ririan which will be opening a rumored showroom on linden street in hayes valley. They are in jackson square. Open ai is the mission. There are nfx ventures. This whole narrative of San Francisco is just like dystopian landscape is not exactly right. And were starting to see the murmurs and like the growing of some of the startups in ai and n San Francisco. And i think actually you can make the argument although its very early in the argument, that San Franciscos going to be the hub of ai in the u. S. If not the world. We are already the hub for it so far . We are theres a debate. Yeah, theres a debate and its going to get bigger, i think its going to rejuvenate the neighborhood. Its not downtown but like the neighborhoods. And i think its going to be bringing more commerce and more talent and more funding which will trickle down like the ikea store and bring people back. Yeah. Thats what way want to hear. Definitely for San Francisco. So how competitive is it for this ai race . Its incredibly competitive. Every company if you listen to their earnings or watch what their ceos says with the exception of apple will say ai is at the middle of the plans whether its true or not. So we have google and meta and every company. We did a study of earnings reports and i think like 95 of the company mentioned ai whether they had a product or not. So its all coming here. And i think this is important in San Francisco to thihink about how the intern flourished here. Cloud computing. Search. Social media. And i think ai which is as big as all of those combined is going to be growing here. Its going to be a slow growth. But i think its inevitable. And jon, you said except for apple. Not talking about ai . Theyre saying that its not as important to them right now. So they say. So they say. Maybe they arent as far advanced as everyone else is. Just a poke or a prod. But tim cook is downplaying it. Got you. You are forecasting more growth here for ai in San Francisco. Why should people in the bay area that have no involvement with ai, with the tech world, why should they care . Because every aspect of your life is going to be affectbed by ai. News you are getting may be coming from a bot. Unfortunately for us in the future. Driverless cars. Every aspect of society. The economy, culture, everything. Even the movies we watch might be written by bots. All inevitable but maybe five to ten years. With the strike thats happening. Sagaftras. The writers are really concerned that ai is going to displace them. Oh. This is an interesting world we live in right now. Right . Scary too. All right. This is why we have jess for weather. Real human not ai. Even as the Weather Forecast is. So jess . Whats it looking like . You know thank you so much. You can always use the app but well explain Everything Else other than just showing you numbers. No. The beautiful city of San Francisco in the 50s and 60s this morning. Just along the Golden Gate Bridge. Were seeing that marine layer kind of filling its way in. And actually stretched its way all the way out just along into the east inland hills into napa and sonoma valley. But were left with the sunny setup just on one side of San Francisco and then not so sunny side you know the drill. Even over close to the sunset and the coast for that matter where daytime highs today are actually below normal thanks to the marine layer keeping us nice and cool. Low 60s near pacifica and mid 60s in San Francisco. We only warm up into the 80s today off into the east inland hills. That does put us about a degree or two below average. Closer to areas like fairfield and even over into oakland and significantly cooler up into napa. Lets talk about the temperature anomaly map. We have High Pressure building in. See all this blue just alongcalifornia . Showing below average temperatures. We start seeing a lot more yellow not only here but all throughout the Pacific Northwest. As we head into the evening forecast meaning a big warmup around corner as High Pressure stretches in. The low 70s right now will turn into 80s. As early as next week. For our friends near redwood city. A very similar warmup no matter where you live in the bay area. Lets take san rafael for example. Just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Low 70s into friday and 80s next weekend. Its not that drastic along the coastline but in the east inland hills, thats where we notice the biggest change. Lets change topics now and 60s today for anyone heading out to the as game against the rangers. First pitch just around noon and were expecting upper 60s all afternoon. Some beautiful there. And for anyone heading out to outside lands this weekend keep in mind that marine layer kind of fills its way in on this side of the Golden Gate Bridge. So its going to be a lot cooler for us at least along our coastal areas friday heading into saturday. Likely we warm up as we head into sunday setup so if anyone has a day pass and they want to head out this weekend, i hope you have the sunday one. Well, all the days are going to be great regardless. But heres what were looking at for the next 7 days and sunny skies and 90s in the forecast around the corner for our inland east bay. Get prepared for that. Another warm weekend aid ofs and i dont think weve had a cool weekend yet so far this month. Here we go into San Francisco, low 70s this weekend for outside land with upper 70s just across the bay bridge over into oakland. And even seeing 70s and 80s kind of flirting back and forth for our friends in the north bay. And all the way down into the Santa Clara Valley for the next couple of days. More on that in a bit. For now over to you, gianna. Jess, outside lands saturday, foo fighters. One out of pittsburg and also westbound going near bailey road. Actually a Traffic Alert with the right lane blocked and live look in a minute. But its certainly a pretty slow ride there. And also slow as the ride into the altamont pass. Heres a live look from a caltrans camera. 205 at 580 still pretty backed up this morning heading through there and its definitely going to take you close to an hour to go to the dublin interchange. Heres whats happening in the bay area this weekend. You dont have to be in hawaii to hula. Celebrate the 50th state with lei making and hawaiian and Pacific Islander food and ukeleles sad at the San Mateo County events center. And head to sebastopol for the apple fair with apple pies and apple ciders and apple chutneys and more. Its the 50th anniversary of the popular family festival. Lot of red popping up on the sensors and speeds down to about 12 miles per hour. Thats because we have got a Traffic Alert unfortunately near bailey road and everything is backed up in and around the area. Been a slow ride all morning long there. Give yourself an hour typically the commute. Give yourself extra time there. Richmondsan rafael bridge live look here and you can see thats backed up approaching the toll plaza this morning. Getting a little busy on the san mateo bridge as well. And if your ride is taking you into the city, via the bay bridge, thats a pretty tough commute also. With the approaches on 80 and 580 being the slowest ones so far. Jess . Over to oakland real fast. Daytime highs today are in the operosities and a very similar trend across the bay bridge into San Francisco today. 80s in the inland hills and lets talk about the fun things happening this week.
