Thousands of city workers in san jose could vote to go on strike this week over failed contract negotiations. We have details on their demands. We have breaking news we have been about. What else is going on . Reporter this fire broke out just before 6 00 this morning. Crews are still out here on scene putting out hotspots and monitoring this thing. Keep in mind, they will be out here for several more hours. Take a look at what is left of this building after this fire broke out. You can see the debris. A lot of fire crews are still out here. I want to call your attention to these fierce flames. You are looking at this fire during the height of it does flames were gnawing right through this building that is under construction. This is at the intersection of octavia and oak streets. This is the main thoroughfare. This street will be blocked off for several more hours. Blames, embers, and collapsed walls caused for other homes to be damaged. The fire chief told me about six people are displaced but she thinks that number could go up as they progress throughout the morning. A viewer message me on instagram and told me she was driving past this area and she could literally feel the heat of the flames while she was driving through through her windshield. That shows the intensity of this. The size of the fire was so massive that at least 140 firefighters were fighting the flames. When i pulled up, i thought we were going to see a full block go down. Really proud of the members and what they did today. Really limiting the impact to the entire neighborhood. You are taking a live look at the scaffolding here and that is the big concern. The chief says they will be watching that very closely. They will secure this scene and make sure nothing happens. Keep in mind, the investigation is underway. If that does not happen, workers could be on the picket lines for three days. Mayor matt mahan says this should be taken extremely seriously. The two unions represent 4500 city employees. The latest offers a 5 raise for the 2023 fiscal year. The unions are demanding a 7 increase. Unless there are lastminute changes to the demands, the unions are strike ready. A preliminary hearing for the man accused of stabbing cash app owner bob lee continues in San Francisco. The hearing will determine if there is enough evidence to send nima momeni to trial. Prosecutors pointed to video advantage showing lee and him together. The new floridabased legal team spent the day trying to poke holes in the case. Gusty winds and possible thunderstorms could heighten the risk of the further spread of the york fire. The fire began burning friday. Firefighters are working to get a handle on the fire burning near the nevada state line. So far it has burned 120 square miles with no containment. This takes our existing gps satellites and adds a greater level of precision. The project will cost 11 million and is being privately funded.
