Cant come quick enough. Senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins center for Health Security is in pittsburgh. Good morning. Hi, thanks for having me. Youre an expert on Infectious Disease and pandemic preparedness. How do we get this under control as you see the rising cases and hospitalizations. Right now, we have a pandemic thats completely out of control. The reason it is out of control, we still dont have Public Health infrastructure to test, trace, isolate. Without that, people cant know their status. They go about their lives, infect other people. You saw the long line at dodger stadium. We cant have test lines like that. We have to test almost on a daily basis, brush our teeth, test ourselves, know what we can do that day. We cant do in november in the United States what taiwan could do in march. This is the reason we are seeing surjs. Then we have pandemic fatigue. We cant do the basics in Public Health in this country. How worried are you about thanksgiving and the pandemic . It is almost inevitable were going to see increase in cases after thanksgiving. Many people are traveling, seen pictures of crowded airports. Most people are not modifying arrangements. This is going to be a place people are going to let their guards down, well see transmission. Epidemiology, theyre not seeing people getting infected in restaurants, it is at their own dining table. We have to help people understand theres risk there, you cannot let your guard down, you have to take common sense precautions even in your own home, when inviting others from other households. New york city shut down in person learning, you wrote in an op oped in the Washington Post this was the wrong move. What do you think districts should do moving forward . It is difficult, paradoxically, children tend to be spared and dont necessarily accelerate transmission like they do influenza. Data were seeing, people when in school and classroom, thats not driving infection. It is very low. The priority has to be keeping schools open. I think we have to put more priority on education in this country than we have. You spoke to Business Insider regarding pfizer and modernas vaccine, saying theyre similar. The key will be distribution, distribution. I am curious to know what are some challenges around distribution in both cases. When it comes to the pfizer vaccine, it is something that requires storage at a very cold temperature, minus 70, thats not easy to do. That will make it harder to get it into the arms of americans. We have to think about how were going to turn this vaccine into vaccination. It will require a lot of planning in all 50 states to be sure people have access to this. Thats something were starting to do, but it has to accelerate rapidly. It will be one of the biggest Public Health challenges. Moderna doesnt require storage but still a big endeavor to mobilize that quickly. These are two dose vaccines. Thats 600 million doses. Something weve never done. We have to get it right. There will be hiccups. Until we get it in peoples arms, well still be in pandemic limbo. Arent there concerns as to who the vaccine will get to . Some rural, urban communities may not have access thats necessary . This is going to be a major issue, to ensure it is equitably distributed, that all parts of the country get it. There will be priority groups set by the cdc and advisory committee, health care workers, high risk individuals are first, then it moves to average risk individuals, but we have to make sure, especially when we talk about a vaccine that needs extreme cold storage that we have capacity to keep the vaccine in places where they dont necessarily have the freezers. There are companies, ups is building freezer farms to distribute from freezer farms the vaccines. Like i said, this will require a lot of coordination, i think it will be something that will be difficult even in the best of times. Doctor, thank you. Tomorrow on face the nation, the nations top Infectious Disease expert, dr. Anthony fauci. Fourth time since the election, President Trump appeared in public, again falsely claimed he won the 2020 election. Fridays claim the latest challenge joe bidens victory. He met with michigan legislators at the white house in hopes of potentially overturning that states results. He learned that bidens win was certified after hand recount in georgia. Chip reid in washington with the latest on all this. Good morning. Good morning. President trump is having little success in desperate attempts to overturn results of the 2020 election, but still showing no signs of conceding anytime soon. I won by the way, you know, find that out. Almost 74 million votes. In just his fourth public appearance since the election, President Trump pressed on. We had big pharma against us, the media against us, big tech against us. Mr. Trump also met with two republican michigan lawmakers at the white house to discuss the Election Results in the wolverine state, but both agreed theres no path to victory for the president. In a statement they said michigans certification process should be a deliberate process, free from threats and intimidation, adding candidates that win the most votes win elections and michigans electoral votes. Late last night, michigans naacp sued President Trump for attempts to disenfranchise voters. I believe the numbers represented today are correct. Down south, president elect joe biden won georgias recount and solidified that states 16 electoral votes, further weakening President Trumps path to election reversal. Intelligence Committee Chairman adam schiff was critical of his republican colleagues who seem wary of challenging the president s refusal to concede. If they dont put an end to it now, theyll never find courage to stand up to him, theyll never reclaim their party. Meanwhile, the administrations confirmed coronavirus cases continue to grow. Rudy giulianis son andrew, Top White House aide with close contact to the president and at least four other aides tested positive for covid19 this week. Donald trump jr. Tested positive for covid, too. With arise in cases this fall, dr. Anthony fauci warns americans to be cautious over the thanksgiving holiday. Pause for a moment and do a determination of the risk benefit within your family group. Then when you make your decision, thats your decision. No one is forcing anything on you. President trump participates in virtual g 20 summit at the white house this morning. Cbs news learned the president expressed interest in meeting with Pennsylvania State legislators at the white house, too. President elect bidens victory in his home state solidified the projected victory. The state has until monday to certify the vote totals. Dana . No slow down with the holidays. Thank you. In another modern sign that a new president ial administration is coming in, twitter is announcing official account of the president of the United States will change hands to joe biden january 20th. The potus handle is an official government account, used to retweet messages from President Trumps personal twitter account. Other official accounts for the Vice President , first lady, and white house will also be turned over to the biden administration. Ed okeefe is following the transition from wilmington, delaware. Twitter is one thing, but the official transition is obviously still being held up. Reporter sure is, dana. Good morning. There are 60 days to go until inauguration day, president elect biden and his team still dont have full access to federal agencies to get a sense how theyre fighting covid19 or dealing with National Security issues. And what congress may do to provide relief to millions of americans reeling from the pandemic. On his 78th birthday, president elect biden met with two congressional leaders he will partner with. My oval office, me casa, you casa. But theres growing frustration as the Trump Administration blocks access to federal agencies and resources. I think it is totally irresponsible. Now, top House Democrats demand head of the General Services Administration Emily Murphy brief by monday why she hasnt declared mr. Biden the winner and allowed the transition to begin. They wrote it is having grave effects and undermining orderly transfer of power. Delays or issues with transition could cost lives in the pandemic that could make us less prepared to respond to natural disasters, could delay distribution of vaccines. Thats why this is dangerous. Tennessee republican senator Lamar Alexander urged the white house to provide the biden team all access necessary so both sides are ready day one. For now, mr. Biden counts on democrats before he gets in office specifically on legislation to address the pandemic. One big obstacle in the way, in the senate, mitch mcconnell, the other obstacle, thats President Trump. New congress is sporn in january 3rd. What about it being passed before january 3rd . Theyre pushing to get the bill passed earlier in the summer through the senate, nothing is moving. There are no serious conversations under way between democrats and republicans about doing something before they break for Christmas Holiday and start a new congressional session next year. The biden team is waiting to see can they get something done before christmas that makes it easier for them to move to other things. If they dont, they know issue number one once they take over late january would be pushing through major relief package that would deal with aid to schools, cities, states, extending Unemployment Benefits perhaps, extending eviction moratoriums, Student Loan Debt relief as well to help americans out of work. You mention in your piece Lamar Alexander broke from most republicans and is urging the white house to start the transition process. Sort of two questions. Does biden camp need more republicans on board and start speaking out, regardless, are there things the biden camp can do to start this differently . They would tell you wouldnt hurt to have more republicans speak out, especially some in washington next year. Lamar alexander while he spoke out is retiring. He will be gone after january 3rd. Thats the frustration democrats have. It is just mitt romney, retiring republicans or former republican officials. Why arent we hearing more from people in power. The problem is theyre trying to read what are the potential effects of criticizing the president on their own political future. Beyond that, the Biden Transition Team could if they want to take legal action. The president elect said this week he doesnt want to do that, all options remain on the table. Despite the stalling, president elect biden is moving forward with some cabinet picks. What more can you tell us about that . Reporter he said that just before or just after thanksgiving, how is that for when is it going to happen answer, he will name treasury secretary who he says is someone that will be liked by all aspects of the democratic party. Thats important. Theres been a bit of ideological tussle among democrats, what kind of democrat, more progressive, more moderate, should lead Treasury Department to sort out economic recovery and domestic priorities. Beyond that, National Security picks, his former National Security adviser when he was Vice President , could be secretary of state, former National Security adviser susan rice is in the mix, so is former biden rival pete buttigieg. He is among those being considered for United Nations ambassador. Over at the justice department, sally yates who served as number two and doug jones, number two, in the mix as well. That pick isnt expected for a few more weeks. 60 days to go. Looking for the wipe board at some point. Thank you. The ship known as mayflower carried pilgrims across the atlantic and eventually to the coast of massachusetts. This year marks the 400th anniversary of that bridge, founding of plymouth colony, and first encounters between new settlers and native people. That tale has been told for now, it is being retold by a nonprofit plymouth 400, including an untraditional take on the thanksgiving holiday. Nancy chen has that story. Reporter 400 years ago next month, a ship carrying the heops of new future reached the shores of plymouth, massachusetts. The thing that would have been most dramatic are the hills. Plymouth has very high hills. Reporter the museums chief historian showed me around the newly restored reproduction of the ship which had in its dark hull 102 passengers, seeking religious freedom and a better life. This is a tight space. Can you imagine the journey lasted 66 days. They arrived at plymouth in late december, 1620, laying the foundation for the beginnings of american democracy. The mayflower compact was the first document to establish representative Self Government in colonial america. What happened here shaped american history. Well, it certainly shaped beginnings of our country. Reporter the executive director of plymouth 400, the nonprofit commemorates the pilgrims legacy with the collaborator previously missing from past anniversary events. Is this the first time Indigenous People have been included as a partner in all this . Yes, i believe it is the first time that we have board members, an advisory committee, native people, so it is the first real attempt to have a historically accurate and culturally inclusive commemoration. Is this something that could have not happened a generation ago . I dont think this could have happened 20 years ago. Reporter a member of the tribe, steve peters, created an exhibit for plymouth 400 about the pilgrims arrival called our story. Reporter how would you characterize what happened 400 years ago . Like the beginning of the end for my people. It is important that people understand it so they can start to be more humane, compassionate towards our people and the position were in today. Reporter there are about 3,000 members of the tribe today. They have been settled in whats now plymouth for as many as 14,000 years. Where we are now was the village. Yes. We are literally sitting on the land that would have been the village in say 1614. They were living, i would like to think, a rather idyllic life. Until a pandemic shortly before the pilgrims arrival killed as many as 90 of the population. Diseases were brought by earlier europeans. Known as the great dying. Donna carton, the executive director of pilgrim hall museum. Entirely wiped out. Reporter the people suffered heavy losses, making them more receptive to new alliances. Two groups came together for a feast of gratitude after the fall harvest, what we now call thanksgiving. Lived side by side for 50 years before war devastated the population and way of life. The story of what happened after, often forgotten in a tale of thanksgiving. Really so much is left out of history. Just because it is written down does not mean that it is, a, completely truthful, and b, the only way of expressing it. Reporter the goal is to tell the more inclusive history. But because of the pandemic, organizers postponed many events until 2021. Also turning some exhibits and conferences virtual. The Partnership Spans oceans. This is a four nation collaboration. Thats right. England, holland, america, and wam pan awe. Reporter it marks the start of the pilgrims journey as they set sail from plymouth, england. They were living 12 years in the present day netherlands. They developed a Program Named after the town where the pilgrims lived. All partners stressing a more inclusive history. The legacy of the mayflower endures today. Some 25 million americans descend from the pilgrims on board, including at least nine president s. Thats something many people can take pride in, part of their background and part of their history and their own story, but it doesnt tell everybodys story. Reporter organizers are careful to call it a commemoration rather than celebration. Still, there are wam pen awe members uneasy about the partnership. This thanksgiving marks the 50th anniversary of national day of mourning, when Indigenous People gather to honor ancestors and mourn the continuing struggles. Peters starts his day there before feasting that night like so many other americans, expressing gratitude. If you looked at our thanksgiving dinner, it would look like everyone elses thanksgiving dinner. What you would hear thats different is what we give thanks for. So we give thanks for our ancestors ability to persevere, in spite of every obstacle faced in front of them over the past 400 years since the european arrival and colonization of this country. Thats what we give thanks for. Reporter for cbs this Morning Saturday, nancy chen, plymouth, massachusetts. Goes back to that malcolm x quote, we didnt land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock landed on us. When you include everyones story in that, you understand why people feel the way they do about this holiday. Giving thanks for perseverance. The first season of the hit drama dallas ended with jr ewing shot by an unknown assailant. Jr, played by larry hagman was a character fans loved to hate, just about every other cast member had a reason to see him gone. Dont even dream of Double Crossing me. Katherine, dont threaten me, honey, youre way out of your league. Him to be shot made him more mythic. Had he gotten worse and worse, meaner and meaner. Anybody could have shot him. The producers had no idea the cliff hanger would be a worldwide phenomenon. That summer, hagman appeared on magazine covers, tshirts, beer cans. Vegas started taking bets. British royals were intrigued. Presented to the queen mother, she says i dont suppose you can tell me who shot jr. I said no, man, not even you. Such intense interest, producers worried the killers identity would leak. They spent a day filming each cast member pulling the trigger. Adding to the tension, an actors strike that delayed the fall tv season, when the episode titled who done it finally aired, 83 million americans, record 76 of tv audience, tuned in for the big reveal. I have finally figured everything out, thats all. Youre crazy. The shooter was kristin shepherd. Jrs conniving sisterinlaw and mistress played by mary crosby. It is hard to imagine a show drawing that kind of audience, 83 Million People to the tv for one night, one episode. We dont watch tv the same way. We dont all come together the same way. Wish we did. Wouldnt that be a scandal. That was a friday night, in the election that year, 85 million. 2 million more voted, but thats it. I miss that, dynasty, knots landing too. Never had another like it. I came to expect them and you dont get the same feeling. What happened after she shot jr . She was booted off the series. Kiss of death. He was the man. The major on i dream of jeannie. From names of buildings to statues, we are reexamining the historic figures we honor. Thats coming up in just a second. A british boy bullied for love of musical theater is turning his struggle into triumph. It is fair to say Charlie Christensen is obsessed with theater. His passion for song and dance made him a target for bullies at school. Called me fat, called me gay, called me stupid, called me idiot. Sometimes it got quite physical. Charlies teacher sent a plea on social media, it went viral with hash tag cheer up charlie, winning the hearts of the nation and londons west end theater community. Cheer up, charlie cheer up, charlie hundreds of performers from hit shows like wicked and hamilton sent messages of support. Charlie got to meet some heroes. Might be be hard, youll get through it. Look how loved you are. This will be your home one day. He even launched a Youtube Channel to chat with actors, including the actor from Young Sheldon who said he was bullied too. I always loved sparkles, pink, Things Considered girl things. Charlie is determined to help other kids. You will see a light at the end of the tunnel. You need to talk, talk, talk, talk. Dont suffer in silence. We cant change the world in silence. Owess teamed up with new celebrity friends to spread the message of hope. You will be found. Cbs this Morning Saturday will be right back. Over five years ago, then president barack obama changed the name of the tallest peak in north america, Mount Mckinley became didenali. And theyve chosen another mountain may be in line for a new name. From colorado, Gary Peterson has the story. Reporter the majesty covered by this photographer, john fielder, named for john evans, a territorial governor. Some say the naming honors the winning of the west. Can you see it from here . Yeah, right there. Front and center, over those trees. Location most anybody can see in the denver metro area. Reporter he is a member of a tribe and former executive director of Colorado Commission of indian affairs. The great grandson of the last chief of the mountain yute tribe. The name evans means this. His connection with the san creek massacre will forever go down in history on a mark on his status as somebody who has been a historical figure for state of colorado didnt participate in the massacre. Had a level of culpability. Evans issued a proclamation, kill and destroy all hostile indians. Some surrendered for protection, some settled in sand creek. A group of cavalry slaughtered mostly elderly men, women, children. Today, it is a National Historic site. Now the u. S. Board of geographic names is considering changing the name of mt. Evans, along with other colorado sites. Squau mountain, thats a derogatory word made of nonnative americans seen as racist and sexual slur. A member of the state Advisory Group on the name changes. Do you take into account that maybe it is difficult for people to use that particular name . I dont want to call something squa. For a certain percentage of the population, saying it would be uncomfortable moment. Reporter for 50 years, randy hiked, biekd, camped on mt. Evans, also on county commission where mt. Evans is located. While he supports the name change, a constituent does not. He said to me i grew up here, it is the only name i have known it by. That means a lot to me. I dont know why we had to change it. How do you recognize people that say but no, this is my growing up, this is my heritage. We have to listen to that. And those people are being sincere as well. Reporter theres something deeper going on. Statues, symbolizing americas slavery era toppled, protests over black people who have been killed and calls to face centuries of systemic racism. And changing century old names of places named mostly for white men as a way to broaden our history. We understand that the legacy of White Supremacy and native american people, removal of native people from their lands, these were, of course, egregious events. Reporter erica dunbar is a professor of history at rutgers. Our question to her, why now . We are reckoning with this very real issue around social justice, around representation. But it spilled over into the public space, into the public sphere of renaming peaks and mountains or forests or parks. This conversation about who we want to be as americans. Reporter tell me what youre going to feel when you look at the mountain and it has an indian name. I think the first thing im going to think about is those tribal elders that i spoke with that were sobbing, that took an opportunity to open up about what the impact sand creek had on them, but also the tribes forcibly removed from our beautiful state that continue to call colorado home that would love for an opportunity to go back to a mountain, take their family and say this used to be ours and it is still being recognized, were being acknowledged. Reporter whats in a name . Turns out everything. For cbs this Morning Saturday, barry peterson, denver. The question that shakespeare asked, whats in the name squa valley in lake tahoe, they are changing. Owning all of it. Thats who we are as americans. We have to own the good and the bad. We continue to focus on the best new books. Martin amos was a legend in england before moving to america ten years ago. In the past five decades, he wrote books that provoke, chastise. We met him as he brought his latest book, a deeply personal meditation on love and loss. Isnt giving you a good time, throw it over your shoulder. Dont waste your life reading stuff that isnt giving you pleasure. Martin amos has never been at a loss for words. In person or on the page. He grew up the son of one of englands greatest writers, kingsley amos. Was told by plenty he would never measure up. Early attempt at screen writing didnt help. The 1980 film saturn 3 starring curt douglas, playing astronauts on a station station with a homicidal robot. Let her go. Conform. But that interaction with hollywood led to a first breakout novel, money. Later adapted by the bbc. I think im going to run out of money. Thats too bad, afraid there isnt any more. Just kidding, slick. Zero problem. Ill send some over. He joined a group of contemporary writers, including ian mchun and salman rushdie. He spent better part of a decade in hiding after they called for his death. Together, writers kept turning out bold, unpredictable fiction. His latest called inside story. Is it possible to say what the book is about . In the end it is about death. But it is also a love letter to life. Yeah. But that just sharpens the difficulty of dying. I always thought pressure must come off, you must weaken into death. But it goes on being very hard to die. Inside story is called a novel, but is more than anything a goodbye to both family and friends. Like another fellow author, and christopher hitchens, he was one of the greats. His excesses in life and on the page well documented. Amos said he is the only person he could ever be completely honest with. Is there a way for you to quantify who you miss most, whether it is christopher, whether it is saul, whether it is your dad . I miss my dad, but it would have to be christopher, exact contemporary, and we work in the same building in our early 20s, got married at the same time, got divorced at the same time, remarried at the same time, had additional children at the same time. Able to get a few friends that seem to keep pace, but not many in your life. Theyre your twin in some way. For the last four years, he turned much of his attention to outgoing American Administration and says he is soured completely on the way democracy works. I was profoundly disappointed that trump paid no moral price for his presidency. There was no rejection of trumpism, far from it. He lost the election. I know. But he was competitive. I am an optimist about america. I thought there would be some self regulating mechanism in the american electorate that would say actually we dont like that kind of government. But you cant tell people how to vote. You can, you can be shocked by it, but also well, thats democracy. Yes. It is a system that has endured. Yeah. Amos politics never have been predictable. His writing routine is. Nearing the end of his career, essay cutely aware of life landmarks and that as a novelist and human being, documenting them, understanding them, are not necessarily the same thing. I went to a film with salman rush dewhile he was under police escort. The cinema which was full, there was no getting out of it. The film was four weddings and a funeral. No iranian torture could have put us through anything worse than that. On the street outside as i was wiping away my tears and smoking a cigarette, i said why is it so popular, that film. And he said the world has bad taste. Havent you noticed . Before you nail me, he wasnt going after four weddings and a funeral. No offense. But as we said, never at a loss for words. The book really is very personal. You can see how much christophers death and others weighed on him as he evaluates his own life. Interesting to see him go in on the election the way he did. Love watching the two of you. He has been outspoken for years on that. Good stuff, jeff. Well switch gears as travel deals go. This one cant be beat. Imagine if your lifes work is planning those celebrations. Thats the case for jess gordon, once named top wedding and event designer in the world. We sat down with gordon to talk about new challenges, her new book, what the future may hold. For the last decade jess gordon is known in the high end Party Industry as the rock star event planner. Could you have ever imagined the entire field you have given your life to work in would vanish one day . No. It is like a tsunami. It is my toughest spot. What are you doing with all of that creativity and drive you have inside you . Just thinking a lot. Taking a pause and trying to visualize my future which is really hard to do. I would like you to meet jess gordon. Hey, guys. At the height of her career, gordon was a regular on a reality show with celebrity chef. It is still in progress. You like . I cant believe you did it. Traveling around the world with a thriving Event Production company. I think people think that event producers live shiny lives because we sell luxury. We drink the finest champagne, travel the world. A lot of these things are comp. Ed, because were bringing business to those things. A lot of times living hand to mouth. I do not have a dime. I have no problem saying that. Every dime that i made i put back into my company to keep growing it. I dont like being 50, not knowing what my future is. I worked too hard for that. That lavish lifestyle is described in detail in her fictional account of the Industry Party on the moon. How close to real life is the book . I think some of the aspects are very, very real. A lot of the experiences mirror Awesome Times in my life. This is me as a very young girl in North Carolina doing one of my first weddings. She grew up in poughkeepsie, new york. She got her first job as a florist assistant. By 20, love of floral arranging blossomed into her own Event Production firm. At what point did you realize this is going to be a very, very long time. When i left my office march 13th, i kind of thought i wasnt coming back. Then certain clients like loreal paris said were a full go. I was like yay. I will produce this out of my apartment. Then when they cancelled a month later, thats when i knew. That was it. She moved out of her luxury apartment in one of manhattans most expensive neighborhoods. Back in with her mother in poughkeepsie. What is it like being back . It is surreal. Hard to describe actually because theres moments it feels so safe and wonderful and then theres other moments i just feel completely claustrophobic just with the general circumstances. I also havent lived with another human being for a very long time, let alone my mother. Describe for me what happened when you realized this is what your lives would be. My place in this is to support her. Nobody could have predicted this. And this is very difficult. And its okay and you have to recognize that. While shes waiting for the return of huge celebrations, the events shes planning now are small everyday moments of thankfulness. Thats sort of whats going to pull us through, to find moments of gratitude, things to be grateful for. We have to. Every day above ground is a good day, period. And i dont know whats going to happen in the future. Let me just get through today. Let me have my dreams. Maybe i want to open a flower shop, maybe tomorrow i dont want to. Thats okay. Let me vast late. I am going to fly like a butterfly until i land somewhere that feels good instinctively. I use the middle name as homage to her. It is one of my favorite memories. One of the places i fell in love with baking. She has been perfecting technique and recipes since. Making a good pie crust aint easy. Also true. I just dont know why it is so hard. The number one ingredient people forget about with pie crust is whatever the tools are. In my pie dough, flour, salt, butter, water. Ice water. Cold butter. Sometimes i put the bowl of flour in the freezer before i start mixing. It is not so much about the ingredients, it is about the technique. Did you ever have the discussion with gran, i am pretty good at this, i need to go to pie school. Inspiration for Culinary School came from other members of the family. I have three older brothers, two of them are artists. I desperately wanted to be an artist but didnt seem to have natural skill with pencil or paints. Then one day i came home from art class, ceramics class, mom was making a cake, using a tool i had used in ceramics studio. It was like a huge light bulb moment. I was like what if food is my medium. I started right then and there, i was 15 years old. I started making a bunch of really awful cakes. They were just terrible. So mcdowell decided to get real life training. After i got my first job in a bakery, i realized it is an artform. I could do this. The summer after senior year when most kids are hanging with friends all the time, going to bed at 7 00 p. M. So i could wake up in the middle of the night and go to work, but it was there i realized i really love this. Which gave her the confidence to apply to the famed Culinary Institute of america. The first time i went, i went with my parents to tour it. They said the smile on my face, it was my first time being there, i was like it was like meant to be. With so much to be thankful for even in 2020, she wont be able to be with her family for the holidays. At least not in the traditional sense. My favorite thanksgiving tradition is actually waking up early when mom is baking the rolls. And we eat some of the rolls fresh out of the oven slaterred with butter before anyone came over. Sometimes her and i or her and my dad and i, maybe my brother, sharing this moment before all of the craziness happens. And it is really special. What will thanksgiving be like for you this year . Im going to make those rolls. Thats one way i can be with them without being with them. Thats whats amazing about food. Its this incredible source of memory. This incredible source of sustinence. It gives so much. Look what we have. You know, were not going to be together this thanksgiving so i thought this was i will give you an apple pie. Cold eggs and hash browns. No one said there would be pie. Sweet and tangy. I love it. I love her and what she said about food and memory. Brought tears to my eyes, i wasnt thinking of thanksgiving in that regard, but it is, so many memories that go with food like that.
