Its kind of make or break. Reporter union square retailers say they need a big Holiday Season to survive after months of nearly empty streets and few shoppers. Some large chains have already filed for bankruptcy protection and the Small Businesses who feed on foot traffic from Bigger Stores say they are fighting to stay alive. We would really need them to be in union square, not only at our shop but all the shops welcome them, because we are all struggling to. It happened around 2 00 this morning when the onduty officer was driving down east second street. Thats when he struck 48yearold scott hamers. Police say the unidentified officer was not responding to any calls at the time. Obviously, it is a very tragic event for everyone involved, and you know, our deepest, deepest condolences go to the pedestrians loved ones and friends and family. We turn over all the investigation at that point to the california highway patrol, and the Solano County district attorneys office. And we are not part of the collision investigation. And tonight, Sonoma County is arguing that it should be moved up from the purple tier to the red tier in the States Coronavirus tracking system. The county is asking for the state to calculate those into their totals, but its unclear if that will happen. Santa clara county Health Officials are asking businesses please follow the health guidelines, otherwise, the county may have to roll back its reopenings. Its going to make landfall up the coast from tampa later on this evening and then weaken as it crosses the florida peninsula. A marginal Tropical Storm by this time tomorrow evening, 40 mile an hour sustained winds. Thats just above the 39 mile an hour threshold then will weaken to a tropical depression as it skirts the outer banks of north carolina. Just another weirdly behaving storm in an exceptional 2020 atlantic hurricane season. On our side, some clouds across the bay area today. A little bit of sunshine did manage to peek through those clouds this afternoon. The clouds will gradually depart as we head through the rest of tonight. You see that clearing line already moving into the north bay. As that blanket of clouds moves out, temperatures are going to drop off. Theyre starting to drop off, especially where weve already cleared out. Not downtown. 53 degrees. Santa rosa down to 48 degrees. The warm spot is oakland at 57. Temperatures are going to be chillier in the north bay to the low to mid30s tomorrow morning. Upper 30s for the trivalley. Barely around 40 for san jose with mid40s around the the bay and along the coast. A couple degrees below average, but nothing we cant handle. A few degrees warmer than today since we see more sunshine. Mid, even upper 60s in the santa clara valley. 64 in san jose. Same for dublin, danville and livermore. Mid60s in the trivalley with low to mid60s in the north bay. A few cooler spots in lake and mendocino counties. A very fallish feel to the atmosphere there. That next chance of rain is heading our way on friday. Watching a few showers starting to move into the north bay by midday on friday. These are going to be slowly making more progress to the south as we get to late friday afternoon, but then a nudge friday evening into friday night. Total rainfall amounts a tenth of an inch to maybe a quarter inch of rain. Not enough to cause problems in those wildfire scars, but still just enough rain to wet things down, and thats exactly what we need. Even better, its out of here as the sun comes up saturday morning.
