In recent years the relationship between the city of santa clara and the 49ers could be described as adversarial at the best. Can sometimes it was just downright ugly. Now, these three newcomers to the city council say they are not in the 49ers back pocket, but they do say that they believe the voters want them to change the tone of the relationship between the city and the team. He says he opposed the construction of the stadium and did not accept any money from the 49ers but believes that voters want the council to hit the reset button on the relationship you i did look into who was running for election in santa clara and if they had any history of working with the niners as opposed to not working with them so that definitely swung my vote. Other voters however say they are concerned about the 49ers outsized influence on the city and its elections. It is not a crazy, you know, company, so why would they spend money . The mayor and six members of the city council until recently the mayor consistently had four votes. Now she has lost two of those and so shes going to make any kind of, she wants to get something done, shes going to need to make a deal she no longer has a lock that would allow her to essentially push through her plans are priorities or agenda. Later this week, rain chances had our way but there still some discrepancies on how the forecast models are handling this. We put those models sideby side so you can see what they have in common. The american forecast model brings some showers in already by thursday evening. The european model holds that off a little it. They do agree that that activity is mostly going to wind down by friday morning. Again, it looks like another little ripple in the atmosphere is going to drive down potentially during that rain by friday evening or hold it off saturday morning. I embedding more of it is going to fall friday night and before the sun comes up on saturday, that is a long way down the line so that is something we are going to keep an eye on with another chance of showers potentially dropping down towards us by sunday night into early monday, but this is where any similarities come to an end. There are some wider differences in how the forecast data is depicting that chance of rain next week so it is just something we will keep an eye on them we will keep you updated so you can adjust accordingly but any outdoor plans this weekend, saturday is looking pretty good after a few early showers. Transit agencies across the bay area are getting hit hard. Andrea is live of the Golden Gate Bridge with the proposed cutbacks and possible toll hikes. Andrea. Ken and elizabeth, bridge districts and transportation agencies around the bay area are not expecting to get any more federal relief dollars because of the coronavirus pandemic. They say that cuts have to be made now. After issuing a 60 day warning in september, the Golden Gate Bridge district will vote on friday about whether or not to layoff 25 bus drivers and ferry operators. The pandemic has tanked ridership by 90 , bus ridership by 70 and bridge traffic is just above 50 of prepandemic levels. Everyday we have bus drivers that be sent home. Prepare them for a full eight hours where they dont drive. The district says they will run out of money in federal cares act money by the end of the month and either need to reduce costs or increase revenue. For the board of directors, there are three options. Layoffs, raising the bridge toll by 1. 25 and furloughing employees one day a week or raising the tolls two dollars with no layoffs. At this fiscal year if we choose one of these options we will fully spend out are in urgency. Drivers were wary of potential toll hikes, which would sunset after 180 days, but still worried about the workers. Those things tend to stay around a lot longer than what they tell you they will appear it would be a lot.
