Temperatures down to the 20s and 30s. So, below freezing. That is why the frost advisory is in effect until 9 00 am today. As we go through the afternoon, we will see the sunshine cool below average. Daytime highs in the mid to upper 50s to low 60s this afternoon. I will let you know how long this will last and when we see our next chance for showers coming up. It is cold and windy. Plus, we have a Traffic Alert around westbound 4. Right in martinez, we still have lanes blocked because of this trouble spot involving some sand in the roadway. Caltrans should be on scene shortly but in the meantime, you have quite a bit of a backup as you work your way through with one lane open for cars to squeeze by. Your drivethrough martinez is very slow. Expect a 41 minute drive time to go between antioch over toward 80 on the westbound side of highway 4. You can use 680 in either direction if you want to avoid those delays. Again, the Traffic Alert remains and we will let you know when those lanes clear. We do have a trouble spot near the bay bridge as well. There is a crash involving one vehicle that hit the guardrail. The meter lights are on at the bay bridge toll plaza. Reporter it has been a while since you have been able to see your breath in the mornings. That is exactly what is going on. This frost advisory is in effect until 9 00 this morning. That is not great news for these businesses that are exclusively outside. In santa rosa they have the streets shut down but i am told that folks are not going to want to utilize this. The cold temperatures mean that business, especially this week, was slow. Downtown was quiet, especially restaurants without heat lamps which are pretty much sold out everywhere because of the high demand to get them. Many restaurants have said that business is down 30 compared to a warmer sunday during the pandemic which adds insult to injury for an already ailing business during quarantine. Sonoma county is the only bay area county that is stuck in the most restrictive purple tear, indicating widespread virus risk. That means that Indoor Dining is not allowed. I knew there was a cold front coming but was not sure how cold it would be. It is interesting. A lot of Indoor Dining is open. I was shocked that everything is outside here. Sonoma county is hoping they can make and roads to a lesser tier here as soon as possible because these businesses really need and to survive the winter with the rain that will come. Visor came out and said has come up with a vaccine that is proving to be about 90 effective. The Company Plans to ask the food and Drug Administration for approval on this vaccine, emergency authorization later this month after it has collected the recommended two months of safety data. It is a two dose vaccine, 21 days apart. The protection appears to be solid. About 28 days after the initial dose of the vaccine. By the end of the year, pfizer says it was manufactured enough doses to immunize about 20 million people. This is as cases are surging to new records every day. Global cases have surpassed another milestone, 50 billion cases worldwide and almost 10 million of them, one fifth of them, coming from here in the u. S. Followed by india in numbers of cases. The stock market is set for a big surge on the news of this vaccine so we will keep an eye on that. Looking at dow futures, that is 1500 points. It is interesting when you break down what stocks are getting a boost from this. We will keep an eye on that coming up. President elect joe biden is already making plans to tackle the coronavirus. Today, he is expected to unveil his covid task force, his Advisory Panel will create a plan to deal with the pandemic. An Infectious Disease expert with uc berkeley says the most important thing mr. Biden can do is to rebuild trust in the messaging over the virus. He says that will start at the center for disease control. Trump politicized the cdc, decisions that were coming out of the cdc. We are watching the stock markets surged on the news of a promising coronavirus vaccine. Taking a look at it right now, a little bit down from its high this morning. The dow up now more than 1200 points. It shot up early this morning. A lot of the companies that are benefiting from this vaccine news, travel companies are certainly one of them. Pfizer, the news that we are reacting to, says that its covid19 vaccine is 90 effective, asking the fda for emergency authorization. After the initial dose, pfizer says it is ramping up production and plans to have enough Vaccines Available by the end of the year for about 20 million people. 6 55. President elect joe biden is unveiling the members of its covid19 Advisory Board today and it includes rick bright, a former Trump Administration whistleblower. The task force features a group of Public Health experts. Almost all doctors, some from ucsf. The president elect has camping on the promise of following science to navigate through the pandemic. President donald trump is reportedly planning to hold Campaign Style rallies to talk about the vote recount. The presid disputing the outcome of the election complaining about her broad. Neither he nor his campaign have released any evidence of that fraud. Kamala harris will soon have a senate seat open. Gavin newsom is likely to make the choice himself rather than calling a special election. Congresswoman barbara lee of oakland is among the potential choices. California is approaching a grim milestone with a coronavirus. It is getting close to 1 million total cases. Governor newsom will provide an update on the states response to the pandemic at noon. We will bring that to you live. 50 firefighters have been on the scene of a structure fire in a san leandro. This is at the georgiapacific facility on alvarado street. A very chilly morning which is not great news for anybody in Sonoma County who depends on outdoor businesses. These restaurants have the streets shut down but that will not do you much good if it is 30 degrees outside. These chilly temperatures meant that business was super slover restaurants downtown. It was quiet. You cannot find heat lamps anywhere to purchase because they are all sold out. Many restaurants said that business was down 30 compared to a warmer sunday even during the pandemic. Sonoma county is the only bay area county left stuck in the states most restrictive purple tier, indicating widespread coronavirus risk. That means that Indoor Dining is not allowed. They are hoping somehow they can begin to make and rose against the coronavirus here in Sonoma County so they can at least advance to the next less restrictive tier and move indoors because at this point, only outdoor seating will not work for very much longer. There was a lot of sand in the roadway. They are working to clear that up to the side.
