Is around 4,000 feet. Its a great landmark. When all of that swept across the bay area. Very few places got measurable rain down in the communities where we all live. But the lightning was impressive, and so was the small hail, which came along with it and now its done. This is what it looked like at the peak, 3 00 in the afternoon with the light snowfall out in Mount Hamilton. A couple lightning strikes up in the hills of the east bay, thats all gone. But thats the view right now from the top of hill, the mark hopkins hotel, looking off to the west. And we now turn our direction to whats coming next. And that is not bad. But over the next 12 hours, theyre going to plummet so much so that we now have a frost advisory. For the north bay, lets come in for a close up look there. The whole corridor below 101, petaluma, and that also extends down into marin. So you are included in this, in it from 3 00 in the morning until 9 00 a. M. Now the park ranger saying they dont have the right equipment to chop it up and remove it, but not today any way. But they will remove some branches, allow the cars to just drive on the shoulders for now. Reporter gusty winds knocked down small trees and big trees. Most appeared have shallow roots. Im glad, it doesnt seem like anybody was hurt, so thats the most important. Not too far away near the corner of cabrio and 38th avenue, high winds snapped a tree limb. Public works says its unclear when they will remove it. Same problem on polk street. This small tree is resting on the sidewalk. There are at least a dozen reported down trees in San Francisco. And daly city, also reported down electrical wires. I just tried to cross the bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge. I was pretty much driving sideways. Luckily there werent too many people on the biking lanes. But the winds were howling, literally screaming over the bridge. You couldnt hear someone next to you. The weather also made it difficult for people to enjoy outdoor dining. These friends say it was too windy. Theyre going to quickly finish up the bay area and head home. Its a lot harder than it has been the last couple of weeks. Reporter many restaurants saw fewer customers today compared to last sunday. They worry the winter months will drag down their business even more. We will get some food and go back home. Reporter back in golden gate park. Some say they will be mindful of any falling trees. Seeing that tree is definitely a wakeup call to notice whats going on around us. Reporter the park rangers say they should have the right equipment tomorrow. New at 6 00 devin fehely spoke to the bay area activist to travel to the battleground state of georgia to be a part of the process. Reporter the state of georgia has been a republican stronghold, a reliably red state for 20 years. That changed to the surprise of many and reverend jeff morris of san jose was there. By my presence of being there, i hoped to add strength, encouragement, and unity. Reporter when i last spoke to reverend jeff moore, president of the Silicon Valley chapter of the naac, be, he was preparing to fly to atlanta, where he would volunteer on election day as an official poll watcher. He describes the mood on the day of election as festive and upbeat. They were somewhat eager to get this process started. They were ready to go in there and do their civic duty. And they came with their children. They came with family members voting for the first time. Reporter he noticed a trend early on that many of the people who came to his polling station, by a 21 margin, supported joe biden. But reverend moore felt the tide turning. The black community there has seen the dust count. And their vote does matter. I expect to see them exercise that much more in the near future. It would take days of counting the mailin ballots in the suburbs before they were able to overtake donald trump. Now reverend moore says he feels like he was a witness to history. I wanted to be there for georgia and where they actually turned blue. I knew it was history happening and i wanted to head to the resume of life. Georgia still has two Undecided Senate races with a runoff in january. And reverend moore says he is considering a return trip. In san jose devin fehely kpix 5. Back to the california ballot. Two big property tax propositions are still too close to call tonight. Prop 15 would tax large commercial properties to raise an extra 12 billion for schools. And state and local governments. But right now the measure is trailing by nearly three points. One San Francisco lawmaker says the lack of extra revenue will deeply impact schools and communities. He also worries about what will happen to the states budget if prop 15 fails and the economy continues to tank. For a budget perspective, im very concerned. The economy and the revenues that it generates is what drives our budget. If its not open, then it is very difficult to generate those revenues. Now a spokesperson for oakland projects oakland schools would receive an extra 14 to 25 million if prop 15 passes. Those funds would not kick in until 2025. Also another tax question still too close to call. Prop 19 would also allow homeowners over 55, disabled or disaster victims to transfer the tax base of their primary residence to another. Uber is going to reopen in San Francisco headquarters to its staff for the First Time Since back in march. But with far fewer people. The offices are helping employees who want to work away from home. But uber incapacity at about 10 or 250 employees. The company told the employees they can work from home until at least july. Major Tech Companies like facebook and july have steadily pushed back their plans for broad office reopenings, which some planned as early as this summer. Well californias oldest Amusement Park is the newest to reopen. The board walk is back in business tonight with a catch. Only residents can hop on the ride and reservations are mandatory. Its unclear exactly what went wrong. One of the men walked away unscathed. The other had to be air lifted out bay helicopter, and his condition is unknown. Its beginning to look a lot like winter in the sierra. The region got hit with its first snowstorm of the season. One of our editors captured that video. Ryan hill is in el dorado county, where people are enjoying the fresh powder. Reporter whether it is having a snowball fight or building a snowman, some families felt the urge to take in the new snow dusting of thefoothills and the sierra. We were planning to do some hiking with the kids, you know, just walking around, but it was snowing already. Reporter its the first snow of the season and the first caltrans chain control too. While the snow is causing travel delays, it is also delighting families, looking for outdoor fun during the pandemic. We decided to come out. It was a great day. It feels good to be outside with the family and to enjoy the time out without being scared far little bit. Reporter thats right, reporting the ski resorts, take a look at the time lapse from the slopes of squaw valley. All of these pictures weve been showing you from rain to hail and wind suggests for the first time in what seems of an eternity, may not use the words, smoke. No, thats the best part about a blanket of snow down in the sierra. When we think of the smoke storms, one was a fire starting in the sierra again. You mean snowstorms . Smoke storms. Im talking about getting another inundation of smoke for several days. The more snow and rain we get in the sierra, the less likely that scenario becomes. We may not be entirely out of fire season yet. But the more we can do this in the sierra, the less likely that situation is getting. Speaking of the sierra, i want to take a moment to show you what happened over lake tahoe today. You probably heard of lake effect snows happening over Lake Michigan and the great lakes . Well it can happen in tahoe under just the right conditions. You can see it happen today in the radar. You see that plume of snow that develops up here along the north shore and then gets directed right towards the southwest side of the lake. Strong winds coming out of the northeast going over what is a relatively warm surface for lake tahoe at this point in the year. With all of the conditions that this storm brought in, we piled up anywhere from two to four inches of snow every hour between about noon and 3 00 today. While that plume was getting directed at the southwest side of lake tahoe. It is a very unique kind of micro climate situation that could happen out there, too fascinating to leave out of the story. But lets come back home. Right after that line came to an end in tahoe, we had our interesting weather here. In other words, right between about noon and 4 00 today, and you can see this really well organized line of showers, move across the bay area. Thats what brought the small hail we were showing you pictures of, giving us a light dusting of snow up on Mount Hamilton and some rain. We didnt get a whole lot of measurable snow where we live, but we did up in the hills and thats good. Now thats all done. That line is out of here and the skies cleared out in a hurry, so now we will turn our attention to the fact its going to get cold. Were on the backside of this storm, which brought snow level down to 2,000 feet in the sierra. That tells you theres a lot of cold air coming in with this. Were not feeling it yet out there. Those numbers are actually just fine. But overnight the temperatures are really going to drop. So the frost advisory will go into effect at 3 00 a. M. And stays in effect until 9 00 a. M. For the valleys of sonoma and napa county. Some temperatures will get down to the actual 20s. If you have a highresolution imagery for the coldest air and where it will be, the deeper the blue, the coldest the air. Thats why were focused up here in the shelter valleys of sonoma county, meaning you dont get a lot of influence in the bay and the cold heavier air will settle down in the valleys. So santa rosa youre going down to 30. But if we fill in the rest of the map, its still cold. Even if youre not as cold as santa rosa. Concord will be 35, livermore 34. Youre kind of sheltered away as well. 41 in san jose. If you look at what happens over the next few nights, well do this for a little while before we gradually start to improve things. You may not be that cold bay area wide, but it will be cold. Daytime highs tomorrow, morning lows, just about a week ago. Were not done. Theres another chance this is going to be the accumulated rainfall for this coming thursday through saturday. We start filling in the map again. Great news. Now we know it doesnt necessarily mean its going to play out exactly this way. Its a little too early. But this is kind of the way the system we just had looks exactly like last week. So perhaps another chance for rain, maybe a little more snow in the sierra. Well see how the temperature profile works out. Theres the sevenday forecast. Thursday, friday, a chance of rain on them, then well warm up towards the end of next weekend. All right, thats where the forecast will stand for now. Back to you. All right, a baby raccoon rescued by San Francisco firefighters after being trapped in a tree is recovering tonight. So cute. Neighbors called 911 after hearing loud cries and screams near 15th avenue and santiago street. This little guy had been wedged into a v split in the tree. Now at 6 30, no sign of an election concession any time soon from president donald trump. Tonights Top Republicans remain divided over declaring the election over or disputing the results. Senate majority Mitch Mcconnell is among the gop power players who have so far refused to publicly acknowledge president elect bidens victory. But while the Trump Campaign continues to scrutinize the results, cbs correspondent Michael George shows us the biden team is moving full speed ahead on an action plan for his first days in office. Reporter juliette, for the first time were seeing what some of the first priorities for a Biden Administration will be, where we are also seeing what President Trumps strategy is moving forward as he attempts to challenge the results of the election. Continue to reach record heights. Theyre going to take the biden covid plans that involves robust testing, tracing, dealing with the economic fallout. Reporter after a round of sunday golf, President Trump tweeted about the election outcome. Since when does the lame stream media call who our next president will be . We all learned a lot over the last two weeks. Trumps attorney Rudy Giuliani says lawsuits challenging the 2020 Election Results will be filed this week. On sunday the Trump Campaign held a News Conference in las vegas. Alleging issues with nevada ballots. This campaign has not observed, has not laid our eyes on a ballot signature, excuse me, an envelope signature, and a voter role signature on a single one of those 600,000 voters. Reporter so far President Trump has offered no evidence of his claims of voter fraud. Here in wilmington, delaware, where the president elect is known as uncle joe, many told us they have seen firsthand the qualities hell bring to the white house. Its just so nice to see that just a Community Coming together behind someone who is going to hopefully do so much good for all of us. Reporter and with its Hometown Hero heading to the white house, this city of just over 70,000 is about to get an even bigger place on the political map. And on day one president elect biden is expected to rollback some of President Trumps policies by executive order. That includes canceling the muslim ban, rejoining the paris climate agreement, and continuing the dreamers program. And in wilmington, delaware, Michael George, kpix 5. Senior white house officials tell cbs news the president will concede when all Legal Options are exhausted. Former president george bush is one of the first republicans to congratulate joe biden. The move is sending a message to the gop after President Trump refused to concede. In a statement mr. Bush says the American People can have confidence this election was fundamentally fair. Its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear, though we have political differences, i know joe biden to be a good man who has won his opportunity to lead and unify our country. Another prominent republican senator mitt romney is refuting President Trumps claims. He told cnn state of the union today he has seen no evidence of widespread voter fraud across the u. S. Hes going to keep on fighting until the very end. But im convinced once all remedies have been exhausted, if those are exhausted, by the way thats not favorable to him, hell accept the inevitable that. But dont expect him to go quietly in the night. Thats not how he operates. Have you seen any evidence, any evidence of large scale or significant voter fraud in the 2020 president ial election . Well, i havent personally. Ive listened to the head of the Republican National committee and to commentators on your network and other networks. People who are also registrars and so forth in various states. No one has alleged something as such to an efficient scale that it would change the outcome. Well the president has yet to speak publicly about the election. He has taken to twitter. It seems clear the next step is taking the fight to the courtroom. Today, he tweeted, we are seeing a number of affidavits that there has been voter fraud. We have a history in this country of election problems. And today we will talk to uc berkeley law professor. He says we can expect to see a scattered shot of lawsuits against various states as early as tomorrow morning. All in the attempt to erode the significant lead joe biden will have over President Trump. It is just the support of a narrative that President Trump has been sending out that this election was stolen. It may not be these lawsuits will overturn the elections, but perhaps for his supporters to support the narrative, you know, something went on. There is something stolen. But from what he has seen so far, he says there is no evidence of foul play. In fact the president s own tweet was flagged for that very reason. But even if there was wrong doing, ross says any legal action likely wouldnt affect enough votes to change the outcome of the election. In pennsylvania alone, 40,000 democratic ballots would need to be thrown out, a highly unlikely probability he said. And the only way of hitting those numbers would be if widespread fraud is proven in court. A recount is also parallel as a track option, but that would have to be bankrolled by the Trump Campaign, and it is not cheap. It doesnt seem likely that these lawsuits will have any affect on the election outcome. So the next question is whether President Trump will concede. Its not necessary over the constitution if there are no legal requirements, but it does facilitate the transition process. Without a concession, ross says biden will not be able to access Important Information that would allow him to hit the ground running. That includes secret and sensitive information. Ross says every president in modern history has conceded to his opponent, so its unclear how this will play out if trump does not. Your recipe to get cold and in fact the wind has died down, so you dont have much of a windchill. Dont let this fool you. The numbers are going to start to drop quickly in the overnight hours. Your first sign of that is the National Weather service, issuing the frost advisory up in the north bay. The valleys of sonoma, napa, marin, anywhere in light blue. So this does go down to san rafael, novato into napa. Just to show you how this looks when you put the temperature forecast for tomorrow morning. The deeper the blue the colder the number. You can see why santa rosa and why we will show you the sheltered valleys of the north bay, meaning you dont have access, direct access to the influence of the bay because you wont get much in the way of the wind, allowing that cold air to just sit there, heavier, will sink down to the bottoms of the valley, and they need to go down because of that. You dont see them in most other places, only going down to 41. And we are in the mid30s, so we will use it as an example for what will happen next. Wednesday, thursday, better, but not much. Weve seen that so many times in the fall, but not too strong and humidity levels, theyve been high for the past few days.
