New numbers in the race for the white house as counting continues in battleground states. Is the picture starting to become more clear . Breaking news in arizona as President Trump and some of his supporters demand a halt to the vote count. Once again the polls ahead of election day appeared to have drastically missed the mark. The former Vice President still leads in the Electoral College projections. He would need to win any two of the remaining five states to reach 270 electoral votes. Georgia announced some new numbers about an hour ago. President trumps lead in the peach state has narrowed to just about 20,000 votes. With about 90,000 unaccounted. Uncounted. We were expecting some new numbers from arizona as well. Where biden has an 80,000 vote lead, but that has been delayed. Here is why. Breaking news out of Maricopa County arizona, protests outside of a Recorder Office have a shutdown ballot counting tonight. About 200 protesters waived trump flags as they chanted lettuce in, they claim ballots are not being counted properly but officials insist that is not true. At one point in a protesters tried to make their way into the building. They were turned away by sheriffs deputies in tactical gear. That is just the latest development in a hectic day in keep battleground states. Lets begin with natalie brand in washington. Reporter tonight the race has tight end in the battleground state of georgia, that is also where the Trump Campaign as filed its latest lawsuit over ballot counting as and maintains an electoral boat lead overall. Joe biden picked up two key battleground states on wednesday as cbs news projects him the presumptive winner of wisconsin, putting him within striking distance of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. I am not here to declare that weve won, but i am here to report that when the count is finished we believe we will be the winners. President trump falsely claimed victory over night and is now mounting legal challenges. His campaign is demanding a recount in wisconsin and suing to stop the vote count in georgia, pennsylvania and michigan. In detroit the borders of President Trump demanded entry to a Ballot Processing Center to watch the vote count. In philadelphia demonstrators called for every vote to be counted. Election officials there say it could take days before the winner of the keystone state is known. We are going to win pennsylvania but they are trying to cheat us out of it because they know its their only path to victory. Election officials across the country said that the voting process has gone smoothly. Its estimated that roughly 160 Million People voted. All eyes remain on arizona and nevada because if biden maintains his lead there that would be enough electoral votes to win the white house without pennsylvania. We are expecting an update from nevada tomorrow. Its part of a nationwide movement to protect the election results. Similar rallies taking place here in the bay area including san jose and San Francisco. Demonstrators holding up signs and pushing for transparency in the president ial election. With the president ial election still too close to call, quit the race ultimately be decided in court . Weve been looking into the legal action President Trump is taking in the battleground states. Reporter there was flurry of legal activity by the trump team today to either challenge the validity of ballots or stop the vote counting and some of the battleground states, its a signal that trumps strategy for winning is shifting from the polling place to the courthouse. All votes must be counted. Tonight Community Groups of eight leaders gathered at San Jose City hall scared that the democratic process could be upended in this election. Frankly, we did win this election. Leslie President Trump falsely claimed victory. Today he filed lawsuits to stop the vote counting in ig, wisconsin and georgia claiming bias by poll workers and the lack of transparency in vote counting. He also challenge the validity of some mailin votes, saying he would take it to the supreme court. The more he looked into these challenges the less credible i find them. Stomach Political Science professor says that the president seems not to understand how the process works. He thinks he can just show up at the supreme court, put a stack of something on the table and they will rule. Thats not at all how this works. And for so many reasons including principally federalism. States run elections. If you have a problem with election you go to state court. Joe biden said what the president is doing is outrageous. No one is going to take our democracy away from us. These legal actions could at the very least drought this process and delay the final outcome for weeks or months. A lot going on, more than the president ial election. Take a look at some of the results of some of our own propositions. Prop 15, that would change commercial property assessments, reassessing commercial and Industrial Properties every three years. Residential property would remain under current rules. Right now the no votes are ahead with about 52 of the vote. Prop 19 would allow homeowners who are 55 and older, disabled or the victims of wildfires to transfer their primary residence tax base to her replacement home. And so far the yes vote is leading. This one is at 51 and have percent. Meanwhile the president ial election is still hanging in the balance but many polls leading into the race painted a very different picture. Trump has 51 and and has a 7. 8 . Had a dozens of president ial polls get this election so wrong . Clearly trumps support was underestimated again. The associate dean of the Political Science department at San Jose State University is an expert in political psychology and polling and says the president ial polling was often 2016 and 2020, and one of the biggest reasons why is because both years trump was on the ballot. Donald trump equally talks about not trusting the media. When a lot of these polls are done by media organizations and universities, you can see how a trump supporter might think no, im not participating in this. If that is in fact what happened that means that the polls would be off, skewed in favor of biden. These are not partisan polls, the purpose is to get it right or they dont have an interest in getting it wrong and its embarrassing when they do. Another place the polls got a run was in the house and senate races. But jackson says that could also be because Trump Supporters are not as likely to talk to pollsters. They will not just ask one question, they will ask about the president ial and senate race. So if the person who was supporting trump is not participating in that poll, then all their other vote preferences will not be captured either. There were the 2018 midterm elections, how accurate where the polls then come about two years ago . So that is the interesting part. In 2018 they were very pridenti election the posters went back and said okay where did we go wrong . They change their methodology for 2018, then the results showed they were really accurate. Now we going to 2020, eight youve seen whats happened here, so now those same pollsters will have to go back and look at it again. Bottom line is that its not over until its over.
