The Biden Campaign just released a statement in reaction calling the president s statements outrageous, unprecedented and incorrect. They called the president s statements, some of which have been flagged on twitter this morning for being misleading, naked effort to take away the democratic right of american citizens. They say the counting will not stop because that is what the laws that protect every americans constitutional right to vote requires. As biden said donald trump doesnt decide the outcome of this election, joe weigh den doesnt decide. The American People decide the outcome of this election. Bidens Campaign Said that they also have a legal team ready to go if any of the Election Results and any of the states that are still outstanding end up in court. Its a marathon, not a sprint. They stopped right after midnight with a little over three quarters of a million ballots in. Santa clara is projecting a new voter turn out record as a result of this election. This was the scene outside of the santa clara registrar of voter as Election Night wrapped up. Once the ballots made it inside poll workerns and volunteers then organized them into different piles, conditional, provisional, and also regular ballots. The next step is to then unfold them and then count them. Here is what one vote her to say about his experience in the nick of time in the era of coronavirus. When you cast a ballot, how did you feel . Just another day in american politics i guess. Was it a relief . Sort of. I dont know. Nothing is a relief nowadays. And record voter turn out was initially at 2008 in that that election. That was at 86 . If they shatter that record which they are expecting to do they expect to see upwards of 90 voter turn out. Another hotly contested race, rent control back on the ballot, proposition 21 allows local authorities to expand rent control. 60 saying no to that. 40 saying yes. And moving to proposition 16. It drew passionate support on both sides of ther. Lets look at the current numbers on that as we look at this. 44 say yes, 56 say no. Thats with 99 the precincts reporting in. Taking a look at video from chopper 5 last night. It went down at 10 15. 92ndnd avenue. This season ott southend of oakland. Oakland police just got back to us with this new information. Its still leaving a lot of questions. They say officers were investigating a report of an in progress robbery of a marijuana grow and they were trying to arrest several people when things got violent suddenly. Multiple officers were injured. I dont know the extent of those injures and apparently an officer involved shooting happened. We dont know who shot who at this point. The investigation is ongoing. In fact the opd is requested assistance from neighboring Law Enforcement to help with this investigation. We are going to keep you posted on that, back to you. New it was a busy night for police trying to keep track of looters. Nearly 11 cars pulled up to a fruitvale mall to loot a starbucks. Shortly after a car smashed in to a nearby dispensary where several items were taken. And a reported shooting during looting at a cannabis club. It happened just before midnight. The victim is said to have been shot in the arm and is expected to survive. And Police Responded to reports of a triple shooting just after midnight. A witness claims he heard at least ten to 15 gun shots and found multiple different shell casings on the ground. Police are investigating, no word on the condition of the victims. And looking live now at the scene of an overnight garage fire in San Francisco. It broke out around two this morning. Thats on 23rd street as that fire contained the three alarm blaze just before 4 00 a. M. Six adults are displaced as a result of this. One firefighter was injured but is expected to be okay. Its important for all of us to take a breath and practice being patient as it should take some states days to get in all their final tallies. The president tried to declare victory over night. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election. Cbs news has not projected a winner in the race for president with the numberer a number of states count ballots and neat candidate having the 270 votes needed. We won all voting to stop. We dont want them to find any ballots at 4 00 in the morning. The president said he is ready to go to court to challenge the results. The Biden Campaign called the president s remarks a naked effort to take away the democratic rights of american citizens. We believe we are on track to win this election. The many toker Vice President addressed his supporters in delaware. Just after midnight this morning. We knew because of the unprecedented early and the mail in vote that it would take a while. We are going to have to be patient. It into over until every vote is counted. Because of the pandemic a Record Number of americans voted early and by mail. Its taking longer to count the votes in states like michigan which hopes to have its results later today. Beyond tomorrow before we get the vote count. In pennsylvania or it could be days before there is an official result. What is most important is that we have accurate results. Biden held onto minnesota, georgia has yet to be called. Parently because a waterline break at state farm arena delayed counting ballots. Now poll workers in several states still counting ballots while others are expected to resume shortly. There are paths to victory for both of these candidates here. Both of them really want to win one of those states in the upper midwest. Lets talk about what we are wait for in georgia and the upper midwest. We expected to he will results yesterday as they were one of the polls we knew they received some mail in votes and also we knew that the polls closed earlier since they were on the east coast. They had the hiccup in Metro Atlanta and had to delay counting them. We should see something today. The secretary of state is actually going to address that later this morning. In the upper midwest the same could be said in wisconsin as they as well as the people in michigan were not allowed to start counting their mail in ballots until yesterday. They had a delay as well. The folks in wisconsin say they are triple checking today to make sure they have everything right. Live at the white house. Thank you. The measure rr, a sales tax to fund caltrain needs two thirds the vote from three bay area counties to pass. They are in favor of the measure. In San Francisco as we look at the numbers 74 are in favor. 26 of voters said no. In San Mateo County we are seeing that 72 of voters, voted yes and 28 voted no. In santa clara county, 67 said yes, 33 said no. Thats a comfortable pass. The sales tax would raise 108 million every year for 30 years. Its now 6 16. Here is another check of traffic. How is it looking for us . Its not to bad in some spots. The bay bridge getting busy as well as the pass. If you want to skip the roadways and not deal with the delays you can always use public transit. Everything is on time and moving nicely. That includes bart, muni, caltrain and ace checking in with in delays. Over to the bay bridge and look at this. Its stacking up pretty quickly. Metering lights on and we are seeing delays beyond that 880 overpass. Not quite to the maze like yesterday. We saw Traffic Building off the east shore freeway and 580. I will watch that to see if that traffic pattern continues. You will see brake lights as you approach the overpass. It extends up the incline and getting crowded across the upper deck into San Francisco. Taking a look at traffic through the pass. Westbound 580 still a busy ride. Its the usual stuff as you work out of tracy westbound, making your way over toward that north flynn exit. You get a break with no delays connecting over to 680 and 680 clear in both directions. Your travel times 35 minute, 05 toward 680. East shore freeway in the groan. Thats good news. Highway 4 if you are getting ready to head out the door. That will take you 29 minutes and right now the south bay ride looking okay through san jose. However, its slow, san martin to morgan hill. Thats a look at your morning drive and its a beautiful shot. You have behind you. Such a pretty view. As we are looking at areas of fog along the coast. Around the bay and even some inland spots. Georgia, michigan, North Carolina, pennsylvania and wisconsin all still counting and could still go either way. Both speaking to their supporters late last night with vastly different tones. We are going to have to be patient until we the hard work of tallying vote is finished and it aint over until every vote is counted. Eve ballot is counted. This is a fraud on the american public. This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election, frankly, we did win this election. This morning cbs news is not projecting a winter the race. And it could be a while before we find out who winsful last night we sat down with a constitutional and election law expert at uc berkeley. He gave some context on when he expects we could see this election called. I think what we should expect is that perhaps we will know by the end of the week, perhaps sooner. We have in michigan and wisconsin and pennsylvania which will likely be important states. They process the mail in ballots this start processing them until yesterday or today. It takes some time to process these and count them. We may start getting results in over the next couple days but it could be until the end of the week or early next week until we know the winner. Lets go now to wall street. Openingbell ringing. Stocks on a roller coaster over fears a contested election. The numbers show the dow is up about 245 points. We will continue to check on wall street throughout the morning. The balance of power is up for grabs on capitol hill. Lets go to ann who has been following hotly contested races in the senate. Yeah. As we see in the president ial election the votes are still being counted in a lot of these races. It looks like democrats are going to keep control of the house but the senate really up in air right now. Lets take a live look at capitol hill where the results will eventually change the face of things there. Democrats right now have 46 senators, republicans 47 the majority leader and Lindsey Graham kept their seats and the partys traded a pair of flips this went republican in alabama and to the democrat in colorado. In georgia, a senate race is going to go to a run off and the other close races are still going on in North Carolina. Maine and arizona. There democrat mark kelly is significantly ahead. Also, the four prominent democrats known as the squad all held onto their seats. Just one hour we will be allowed inside to the registrar of Voters Office where they will count ballots again. They made a last minute change to not start until 5 00 a. M. After a long night of counting ballots and some much needed rest they needed. At last count last night there were just over three quarters of a million ballots they had to go through. They were all brought in to the registrar a office and then from there they were organized into different categories. Provisional, conditional and then regular. Then they had to unfold them all and count them all. People showed up to vote in the evening. Despite the anxiety they felt. Its very hard. I tried to prepare myself mentally for about three months. Im on medical leave for work. Its very difficult. I have family and friends that live here. I decided to push through all the difficulties and come here to vote. So uof the area set records for early voting turn out but overall santa clara. The year to beat is 2008. That election. The numbers is 86 . Voter turn out. They get close to 90. Its really impressive. We will have a better understanding of some of the numbers and the latest updates. We will be allowed to go inside at 7 30. Then at 10 00 we will get the first announcement. Theres another at five unless something happens before then that they need to let us know about and we will be here for it. Reporting live in san jose. Turning now to some statewide results. Rent control back on the ballot. Proposition 21 would have allowed local authorities to expand rent control measures by replacing the cost of hawkins housing ad. Here is a look at the latest measures. 60 of voters said no. Another big measure should app based drivers be independent contracts . 58 of voters say yes, 42 said no. Now to proposition 15. Billions of dollars at stake for the state with this measure. It would change commercial property tax assess members. The biggest revision to the proposition subpoena 13a. Other than that things quiet if you are going westbound through richmond and berkeley. Its just south of there where we have slow and go conditions between san march tin and morgan hill.
