Mail and voting in marin and early inperson voting are at record levels. 121,000 ballots had been processed as of last night. That exceeds the total turnout for the primary election back in march. Soper, a record 60 of registered voters in marin have summitted ballots. One man thinks someone may have tampered with his ballot which he never received in the mail so he voted in person. Parishioners pack the pews yesterday at Calvary Chapel in san jose. Services are still being held despite the church facing more than 350,000 in fines. The church resumed Indoor Services two months into quarantine, hosting anywhere from 100 to 600 people without face coverings. The county issued a cease and desist and sued the church. The church is fighting back, hiring a team of attorneys. This is egregious and it is violating the Constitutional Rights of our clients. That restraining order, if it succeeds, will place this church in a position where they have to decide, are going to bow down to caesar or we going to obey god . I think this church will obey god. The North Valley Baptist Church in santa clara has also racked up tens of thousands of dollars in fines for holding Indoor Services. This morning, the city of milpitas is threatening a lawsuit to block the states Housing Project for the homeless. The plan, called project home key, converts hotel rooms into housing for homeless during the pandemic. Milpitas city Council Voted unanimously to take legal action against the project, saying they were sidelined and not allowed to weigh in on the locations, the size, or even if the project was a good fit for the city. It is a disappointment to me that there is a conflict but i think this is an opportunity for us as a community to have a thoughtful conversation about how we address homelessness.
