Developing in San Francisco, 28ucsf health care workerns under quarantine this morning. Five people at the hospital tested positive for coronavirus. Two patients and three workers. Officials say that they were infected with the virus at the parnassus campus. Ucfs said we have not yet determined the orange source or exact sequence of the infections. We have isolated the patients and employees and are working to identity, test and quarantine other individuals who may have been exposed to them. The state is reporting a slight increase in coronavirus cases. The positive rate has been just under 3 over the last two weeks but slightly higher, 3. 2 over the past seven days. The icu rate is up nearly 6 . Hospitalizations up 4. 7 . In Sonoma County 12 workers at the District Hospital have tested positive for coronavirus. Its believed no patients are infected. Public Health Officials said all 320 of the hospitals employees have now been tested. The county Health Officer said that ongoing Contact Tracing will shed light on the situation. The 12 employees worked in several different departments. Happening today, some good news across the bay area this morning. Movement with in the states reopening tiers. Marin and san mateo have all move from the red to the orange tier. Lets go live to emily turner with what this means for local businesses. Its a big day for four different counties and for all of the businesses that are inside of them including some of the restaurants here in downtown redwood city. That means maybe it wont be so packed outside. You wont have to use so many heaters especially as the temperatures start to drop. Thats good news for them. San mateo was able to meet the orange tier status with a test positive rate of 1. 6 per 100,000 people. That was the test there. There have been 159 total deaths since the pandemic started which is its still a sobering number but at least is moving in the right direction. Its great to be in orange. Better to be in yellow but great to be in orange. Something that some be celebrated but at the same time, something that shouldnt make us complacent. We have a long way to go. San francisco is the only county in the yellow but here is what this means for the orange tier. Indoor dining can go from 25 to 50 . In addition to the restaurants movie theaters, places of worship, museums, they can all increase capacity as well to 50 and then gyms can bump it up to a 25 capacity. Now, what doesnt change moving forward in order to continue to stay in this tier is the health and safety protocol. That means masks, social distancing, no large gathering. The blue ridge fire has damaged ten homes so far. The santa anna zoo is hosting 150 evacuated animal from the zoo. They were moved yesterday. That is there are several county that are moving to the next tier. Not so many outside. There will be more inside. San mateo is moving the red to the orange as of midnight. That also will include marin, and Santa Cruz County. Now the good news here is this has to do with positive test results. San mateo was able to meet the orange tier with the test positive rate of 1. 6 per 100,000 people. There have been 159 total deaths. At least they are moving in the right direction. Here is what it means. Indoor dining can go to 50 from 25 . That means that movie theaters, places of worship and museums can increase capacity to 50 and gyms can increase capacity to 25 . What that doesnt mean is that you can take this off, gather in big groups or get closer than six feet. Remain aware and hopefully everything will stay in the orange tie r and eventually the yellow. Time for a look at the other top stories. 28ucf Health Care Workers under coronavirus quarantine in San Francisco this morning. Five people at the hospital tested positive for coronavirus. Two patients and three workers. They were infected with the virus at the parnassus campus. The hospital is trying to find the original source. Pg e crews working to get power restored to all customers affected by the psps. It hopes to have the lights back on by noon. The utility said there is evidence outages help prevent fires during the wind event. Two fires burning in southern california. The silverado fire has burned more than 13,000 acres. The blue ridge has burned more than 14,000. Both had little to no containment. Preparing for election results. Unrest. The mayor said that San Francisco is ready. He adds the city supports the right to protest but wants to keep people safe. Bay area crab may not be in stores in time for thanksgiving. Thats because of new rules to protect other sea creatures.
