Sustained winds20 to 30 miles an hour, gusts in the 50 to 60 mile an hour range in the higher elevations. Lets break it down tonight and tomorrow, very low relative humidity, 5 to 10 inland and the offshore wind, gusty as we head through tonight and into early tomorrow morning. Humidity doesnt recover very much heading into the early hours of tuesday, still lower than 20 , still the dry offshore wind with gusts approaching 50 to 60 miles an hour. As we wind the clock forward to 3 00 in the afternoon, the offshore wind will continue. The humidity gets lower, but we start to see an onshore wind beginning to make its presence felt. That is going to move inland as we head through tomorrow evening. Then the humidity goes up, not a lot, but its a start. It doesnt take us out of the woods, but it does reduce the worst of the fire weather conditions weve tracked the past couple days. Now its nice out there this evening in all the cities of the bay area because were lowering in elevation. Its the gusty conditions farther up that have us concerned. Were dipping down into the 40s later tonight, low 40s in north bay, not quite as cool which we initially anticipated, the very warmest locations around or above 50 degrees. Thats pretty typical territory across the bay area. Temperatures along the coast upper half of the 60s, low to mid70s around the bay with a mix of mid to upper 70s and low 80s farther inland. About 5 to 10 degrees above average and stay in the same territory inland wednesday and thursday while around the bay and coast temperatures will steadily cool off as that marine layer makes its way back inland and will help with the fire weather concerns. We will keep a close eye on things until those winds finally shift and calm down. A local kid tries to make good in the world series tomorrow, but for the dodgers. Theres more bad news. Deebo samuel who missed the first three games of the season hurt his hamstring. Hes out the 49ers next two game which are against seattle and green bay. After the 49ers take care of the patriots the seahawks and cardinals played a thriller in overtime. Arizona kicker Zane Gonzalez booted the game winner to hand seattle their first season loss. At this location near the clavius crater they were very excited and when we heard it, we were literally over the moon. We didnt expect that this water molecule could survive the harsh conditions on the lunar surface. We would think it would escape in this airless environment. The clavius crater, yes, i would expect to find a lot of things there but not water, no. Researchers at nasa ames put a massive telescope on the back of that 747 and when it reached 45,000 feet where the air is crystal clear, spotted water, molecules on the sun lit surface of the moon. Before this it had only been found in some craters. I love this stuff. Its so fascinating, so much we dont know, so much we still need to discover. Thats right. Well be right back. I didnt choose this job because it was easy. But i cant say i expected this. To fight these fires, we need funding plain and simple. For this crisis, and for the next one.
