Heres paul and darren with the latest on what is going to be an unusually windy night, guys. Yeah. Its going to be a dangerous situation the next couple days. Darren will talk about the big picture in a second, but i want to get into the details for the next couple days beginning with our red flag warning in effect for the entire bay area through 11 00 tomorrow morning. So everywhere, not just hills and inland valleys, but along the coast also included in the red flag warning. Currently fire weather conditions on the map show a few spots in red flag conditions, but the yellow dots indicate spots that are close and theres about four dozen of those already. Were seeing 40 plus mile an hour wind gusts on mt. St. Helena and the humidity is incredibly low and will drop further overnight, down to 5 to 10 for most inland parts of bay area by early tomorrow morning. It goes down more heading through the day tomorrow. This is super dry air, 4 or 5 relative humidity levels. Combine that with the crispy dry fire fuels. Thats why were so concerned about this. Even once the humidity starts to creep up a little tuesday, its still going to be hovering right around 10 . So the red flag warning for inland parts of bay area continues through 5 00 tuesday. In terms of the winds were expecting wind gusts in the 40, 50, 60mile an hour range into early tomorrow morning. Thats going to be the windiest time period, the most dangerous time period for rapid fire spread if anything gets started. Anything in purple indicates 40 plus mile an hour wind gusts. Look how much purple is on the map early tomorrow morning. Those winds will still be gusty throughout the day tomorrow. They begin to relax somewhat. You see the wind arrows slowing down a little bit. There will be pockets of gusty winds through Tuesday Morning and then the wind begins to change direction. It wont be as strong. We head into tuesday afternoon. Thats hopefully when we can start to relax a little bit. Darren has a big picture look at why all this is happening in first place. Yeah, paul, i want to give us the perspective why this event is on the extreme end of the scale for wind and why it looks similar to an event in september when two large fires started in the sierra, the creek fire and north complex fire. First look at the satellite. Look at this deep trough out here that digs into a huge ridge over the pacific. If something is going to dig down that far to the extreme over here, its got to balance itself out on the other side. So youve got a big ridge here which means its got to come back down again. Its coming back down to our east. Look at all that energy flowing into the colorado rockies. Its snowing there now. Over the next 36 hours 2 feet of snow will fall on the peaks of the colorado rockies, good news for them because their fire season has been going, but this happened in september. You probably forgot about this or maybe you remember. It snowed just outside denver in september. It was kind of national news, but in that same scenario back in september that gave us two large fires in the Sierra Nevada because if you get such an extreme surge of cold air over here, that starts pushing the air towards california and we get our strong offshore wind events. This is going to hit the sierra a lot harder than it will hit our local mountains and this scenario looks very similar to the situation that sparked the creek fire and north complex fire. So were definitely focused on our local mountains, but with air quality concerns and california in general lets not forget the sierra is also a major concern from this over the next 36 hours. Back here at home morning lows go back to the low 50s for overnight lows. Well see daytime highs climb back up to the mid70s. Youll barely notice the temperatures. This is all about wind event that starts tonight and takes us through tomorrow. Theres your sevenday forecast. The temperatures go up a few degrees and come down a few degrees, no significant changes. If we can get through tuesday night without any significant fire starts, well go on to an absolutely lovely week, but theres a lot of unknowns between now and then. Well too do our best to keep you updated and track this. Darren, i guess you could say vegas crapped out and tom brady won the jackpot today. Brady throws four touchdowns. Even until the very end, you know, they played their hearts out and we got to play better in all phases, but it was a tough week certainly. It will make us better inrun. Hopefully it motivates a lot of people out there that you can accomplish great things in adversity. Todd gurley and the falcons trailing detroit. Falcons led 2216 after a two point conversion.
