Thats not going to change much over the next couple of days and those fire fuels are as dry as they get before we get into the rainy season. This is the current fire weather tracker. All of these dots are different observation points that feed data to the National Weather service and then to us. Theres 363 of these on the map. Exactly zero of them are currently in red flag conditions. Only six are what we would call close to red flag conditions. Thats good news for the moment. We do expect those conditions to favor the rapid spread of any fires that get started later tonight. This continues through 8 00 on friday morning for the red flag warning, the north bay mountains, the Santa Cruz Mountains and east bay hills and gusty winds possible. Were not talking about the worst fire conditions the bay area has ever seen. More of the moderate category. It just takes one fire to get going to cause major problems. Well have an update how temperatures will help us out over the next several days in a few minutes. San jose has now agreed to allow some downtown restaurants to stay open until midnight. Kpix 5 reports this came after a bit of a dust up when police tried shutting down diners early. Reporter after several months of being shutdown, restaurants were finally getting back into the groove and it was a busy saturday night when police came calling to shut the restaurants down. Restaurants at the popular san pedro square have been serving customers but came to an end last saturday night when downtown patrol officers shut the late night eateries down saying they were violating a city permit to be serving past 10 00 p. M. It was a bit of a surprise to all of us. I know other people on the block got closed down earlier than we did. Reporter the officers were correct on the letter of the law. Restaurants in the alfresco program had been operating in what they consider a harmless gray area. We definitely werent expecting Law Enforcement kind of just to come in in the middle of our dining and surprise us like that. Reporter by monday, restaurants were complaining to city hall saying their survival is at stake. Many are teetering on the brink of a Financial Reality where they might kind of call it quits here. Thats really dry for this time of year even as temperatures are going to be a few degrees cooler. Its not going to see a substantial level of recovery tomorrow evening either. In terms of the winds, some good news here. The forecast models indicate that the winds arent going to be that strong yet by early tomorrow morning except right along the high terrain in eastern napa county. That is where the wind could be gusting already as we go to early tomorrow. Some gustier winds in the offshore direction as we head towards noon tomorrow. 20 to 25mileperhour wind gusts which will back down again as we head into tomorrow evening.
