An investigation wrapped up thats the largest of its kind in the state of california, quite possibly the largest in the nation. Nearly 100 Law Enforcement officers spent thousands of hours over the span of eight months and in the end they had to sit through a Little Mountain of evidence and arrested a suspect whose nickname was the medicine man. We are in the Central Valley town of patterson because they did not need just an Evidence Room they needed an evidence warehouse. Professional thieves in the bay area, this has been a brutal week. This warehouse converted to an industrial size evidence Processing Center now full of recovered stolen merchandise. Trailer after trailer, been after ben and zach after sacked stored on pallets, stacked floor to ceiling twostory solve. It took a team of 30 people two days to catalog it, mostly merchandise from cvs as part of operation proof of purchase making it the largest dust of its kind in california history. 8 million in recovery. Reporter one of the top experts on organized crime says they have been tracking the socalled boosters as they enter their stores and stuff bags with merchandise. They then meet up in the tenderloin and according to investigators sold the items to leaders. Detectives say he actually posted this on social media, a trunk full of stolen goods and a stack of hundred dollar bills. They pay those thieves one or two dollars per item and then they sell the product to elicit wholesale operation. From there investigators a distributor buys the stolen items. This video shows him unloading truckloads full of merchandise at one of his warehouses. Mouthwash, cleaning supplies, shampoo, overthecounter medicine and more than 1 million worth of razors. He allegedly directs them to steal small compact items with high resale value. We are going across the bay and they were going into San Francisco and it just got larger and larger and more people were getting involved. Reporter the Crime Task Force is led by the chp. These Police Departments are not going to be able to connect under 1000 theft, the retailers know theyve had 10 stores throughout Northern California and they might have agencies working on these smaller crimes. The retailer knows that theyre connected to something larger. Reporter investigators tracked the stolen goods to 16 different storage lockers, warehouses and homes across the bay area. Much of the goods were then sold online through a Law Enforcement says is a Company Called deluxe otc. When Law Enforcement raided the home they found a 5000 in cash, a highspeed bill counting machine at multiple vehicles. His money was allegedly laundered through real estate transactions and other businesses. The alleged crew bus behind the picture frames they found stacks of hundred dollar bills totaling 50,000. The stolen goods eventually find their way to ebay, craigslist, facebook and amazon where they are sold at a steep discount. Theres a big societal cost of saving a few bucks. I dont think anyone would intentionally attribute that but everyone is looking to get what they need at the lowest price. Its understandable but if you take the time to educate yourself and take a look at where youre getting your product and even though the price might look good he might be contributing to something bigger that you dont understand. This is causing about 40 million in each year and the typical family pays about an extra 500 per year because of increased prices. Has resorts with wind up to 140 miles per hour. Parts of the u. S. Are already preparing as it could make landfall in louisiana by the end of the week. Its a beautiful evening despite the smoke out there, on as is kind of mellowed right through the golden gate and a lot of people battling 95 degree weather there, appreciating a little cool off. Lets take a look at the serious side of the weather we want to check in on hurricane delta trending toward landfall tomorrow morning. The peninsula headed right for cancun is a major category four storm with 145 mileperhour wind, you dont see that well defined eye of the storm because there is some wind about two miles above ground level trying to tear the store apart, that is reducing the organization over also is probably not going to strengthen a lot more, National Hurricane centers official forecastle calls for almost category five strength. Theyre going to have to revise that with the update coming about it a clock either way its going to be a major hurricane it is going to bring dangerous sustained wind and a ton of rain to cancun and other resorts. That makes its way into the gulf of mexico and turns to the north, becomes a category four hurricane starts to weaken as it approaches landfall. Once again in louisiana very close to where hurricane laura may landfall back in august and it makes its way inland and begins to dissipate but it will still bring a ton of rain to the gulf coast and even further inland. Some rain in the forecast around the bay area about for an hour tracking the fog as it makes its way in with cooler temperatures. So 80 degrees in concord and livermore. Visibility will be reduced, the fog spreads pretty far inland by tomorrow morning and is going to be slow tobacco, part of the reason why are going to cool down, the stronger breeze trying to keep the farm locked in place. Were starting off mostly in the 50s cooler temperatures in the north bay, a slow warmup with the fog and low cloud cover with low 70s at the warmest balance time with high temperatures inland and a mix of 70s and 80s, how nice is that compared to the 80s 90s and the 100s weve had, still 60s with 50s along the coast, in terms of range answers the forecast models are tracking one chance of rain headed our way on friday according to one of the forecast models and the other one says were still dry friday, we are going to see chance of light rain shower saturday, not enough to cause any significant debris flow issues but some welcome moisture is crews try to contain the last fire.
