So if one kid gets sick only the kids in the cohort will go into quarantine. The Health Department is measuring to make sure everyone is six feet apart, but it not desk to desk. There is no such thing as zero risk, its just about mitigating that risk. The Health Department has learned a lot about the virus since march when educators were more worried about cleaning surfaces. We know that children under 10 are less likely to be infected. If they are infected they are less likely to be sick. Dr. George rutherford says that because kids are much less likely to get sick he is generally comfortable getting students back to school as long as officials keep following the science. And things for the short term continue heading in a good direction. But the wind will shift on saturday and here comes the low level smoke back into the bay area. This is one version of one forecast model. It is a strong indicator that we need to be prepared for a decrease in air quality as we head into the weekend. The epas official forecast puts us back into the moderate category for saturday, sunday and monday. And we may see some orange or red dots indicating unhealthy air quality by saturday or sunday.
