We have a spare the air alert that remains in effect and we continue with smoky and hazy skies. We are record 21 days in a row with our spare the air alert in effect. So we are looking at a red flag warning, critical weather conditions up in the hills. The north bay mountains as well as east bay hills, that is from tonight all the way until wednesday morning. We will talk all about this coming up in my full forecast in just a few minutes. Lets check in gianna lets look at traffic. We start on 80, westbounder leisuretowne boulevard we have a crash with all lanes blocked that happened at about 2 30. This is a fatal incident. Chp is still on scene for the investigation. There is some activity. You will see a backup through that area. Use alternates if you can. Try to avoid 80 also until they get those lanes cleared. It is around vacaville, not too far from the 505 exit. The rest of the freeways are off to a good start with the Labor Day Holiday. We will not see too much of volume. It is quiet with a 21 minute drive time from 205 to 680. Highway 4 to the maze is in the clear, along is highway 4 to the south. Breaking news, a deadly shooting in San Franciscos excelsior district, this video shows a heavy Police Presence on ocean and Mission Street on the ground what appears to be a handgun. A witness who did not want to speak on camera tells us shots were fired during a slideshow. I saw all these cars just in the street, doing their thing and i stepped out, you know, for a couple of minutes and shots were fired and everybody took off. I went to my car and this person was laying dead on the side of my car. Police responded to another shooting at ocean beach shortly after 11 00 last night near fulton and glade highway. The victim is now in the hospital with lifethreatening injuries. No word yet on a motive or a suspect description. Now to our dangerous heat, some good news from cal iso. The power shutoff could also come as many people are working and standing from home relying on technology for distance learning. The creek fire has exploded to more than 70,000 acres and there is 0 containment. Evacuation orders are in place near shaver lake as firefighters try to protect homes from 100 foot flames. Interrupted so quickly over the weekend that hundreds of campers got trapped in Mammoth Pool Reservoir and dozens of them had to be rescued with military helicopters and others raced to safety in their cars only to drive right into the flames. I want to be clear that there are consequences for violations of our covid19 policies. With an additional 120 cases among students now confirmed, School Officials are cracking down to make sure students are following safety protocols from wearing face coverings to social distancing. Our students and other members and should not be traveling and gathering. They have known not. I have seen a lot of residence and a lot of people going out. They do not wear their masks and they are not social distancing. They have hired private security to patrol the college area and so for over 450 violations of covid19 policies have been issued. Eight organizations have also been put on notice. These violations could potentially lead to suspension or in rare cases expulsion although so far none have. There are some that are under investigation right now that could possibly go to that level. It is critical to remove any stigma around the students and also working to drive home the message to follow covid protocols. At least 120 new cases has 14 clusters identified with different locations while Health Officials are working to determine if any of these qualify as outbreaks, none of these cases have been tied to oncampus educational activities. An earlier outbreak among students identified to the county on wednesday, centered around students living in separate units and an off Campus Apartment complex. Of those individuals are isolated and their close contacts are quarantined. Officials say there are 150 students on an offcampus in quarantine and the students are under a stayathome order through tomorrow. A study in the uk is looking into a possible link between covid19 and new cases of type i diabetes in children. Researchers with Imperial College of london decided to look into the possible link after some hospitals reported a doubling of type i diabetes cases in the height of the pandemic. Some of the kids tested had active covid infections and others had antibodies. The next step in the study will be to analyze a larger number of cases to see if they can prove a direct link. Zooming in, unhealthy air is here for the starting our day. It is from redwood city to milpitas and the trivalley and dublin and pleasanton. As we look to concord, walnut creek, and danville and around the bay, oakland is unhealthy for sensitive groups and unhealthy for sensitive groups for the San Francisco area and sausalito and larkspur and moderate air quality for san rafael, petaluma, and santa rosa and windsor. The north bay mountains and the east bay hills, elevations are above 1000 feet where we will watch critical fire weather conditions with wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour. This is from ridge of High Pressure is keeping the heat with us for today and looking at the recordbreaking highs, this low pressure system to our north is going to sweep down and that will bring those northerly to northeasterly winds. We will see those winds pick up tonight and into tuesday and wednesday. Watch those northerly to northeasterly winds as we go through the next few days. Back on our fire watch, burning in eastern san diego, they have burned more than 9800 acres and is only 1 contained. They started saturday tripling evacuations last night.
