Cal iso was working to buy power from other parts of the western grid. Those other parts also had their heat problems to worry about. Generally at this point they arent willing to sell power until the last minute because they dont know if they need it for their own customers. If you want to cool off at the beach this weekend, many areas will be open, including San Francisco, marin, sonoma, and most of San Mateo County. However a different county in pacifica. Im trying to understand why they dont think the same way. Reporter we met some locals who would take advantage of the state beach ahead of the shut down. Since i had school today and i finished all my homework early, we just wanted to go do something before it closed. I understand it because you cant guarantee people are going to be safe and safe distanced. Although because Half Moon Bay is open and pacifica is not, this will still be tremendous traffic. Reporter this evening traffic was moderate, and plenty of space on the sand. We need to minimize exposure and keep everyone safe. So i think it is wise because people, they tend to flock to the coast especially when there is a heatwave. Reporter that is exactly what san mateo supervisor is urging people not to do. When they flout these rules, it keeps us in purple tears. It closes our economy. Reporter in addition to Half Moon Bay, other beaches in San Mateo County will be open this holiday weekend. Reporter each school in this conference will get two testing devices. With this system the athletes will be tested daily including before every game. Players are fully aware of whats at stake. We understand these are just unique times and we cant be selfish. We have to think about the bigger picture. Reporter they are keeping their fingers crossed that the testing method will let them play ball. I think just the fact were able to get efficient faster testing at an ideal and efficient time frame is huge for all sports. Reporter while this testing has been used in facilities such as Nursing Homes to reunite patients with families, this could help to further open up the economy. Experimenting with the Football Teams could pave the way to open up schools for kids and have workers return to their jobs. In berkeley Andrea Nakano kpix 5.
